Hmm. Given a time machine I'd probably log back on to Multi Player Battle Tech on AOL in '96.
No special reason, just MPBT was a hell of a lot of fun to play, despite the primitive graphics and 9600 baud modems (if you were lucky) of the time.
On the other hand, I don't want those hourly-rate AOL bills again :shudder:
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.
I just didn't appreciate all the innovation and the amazing design concepts behind this game. I took things for granted. I was still naive then and expected developers to keep innovating. So i kinda thought "this is amazing, but the next is gonna have all this just with even more polish", isntead the next games dumped all the good ideas and made "MMO for Dummies". Sigh.
Future: SWTOR.
Because it's a game that is pretty much guaranteed to provide 30 days of solid entertainment and one that i'll probably be able to "finish" in the 30 days given. Yes, i know you can't really "finish" an MMO, but with story-based games, once you're done the storyline, you tend to feel like it's mostly done once that's over.

Sarcastic answer- I would go far into the fut....(looks at someone elses post), well was already beaten to saying that, but yeah, bring stuff from the future that enhance graphics so much that people demand that God give real life a graphics update.
Serious(I guess?) answer. SWToR, see if I like the game. In addition I would want to go far enough ahead to see if the game is successful, whether its average success or crazy huge success like WoW was. Than come back, make these predictions, be called a moron, save the screenshot of posts, and rub it in when it comes true......btw can I bring back a sports Alamac from several years in the future to this time too?=D
Like several others said, I would play old school FFXI. Basically, any expansion before ToAU. I wish I found another MMO with a community as great as FFXIs back in the day.
This is a better version of the 'if you have 30 days to live what MMO would you play?' thread, because I don't think that there'd be anyone who would waste his precious 30 remaining days with playing an MMORPG.
So, the situation is, what if you're sick or recovering which leaves you unable to move much and leave the house, but you'd have access to a computer and, hey, whaddaya know, you also have a time machine
What MMO would you play, under the restriction that you could go back to any year in the past but only 3 years in the future (the future is fickle)?
And if you chose an MMO from the future as 1st choice, what MMO from the past would you choose as 2nd choice and what year?
My uncle Cletus is on house arrest and he does have a time machine. Its called Moonshine. Drink enough of that S%$# and your mind can go wherever it wants.
I will play ArcheAge from the future, and from the past... im not the kind of guy who play old stuff but I'd say Dark age of camelot, never played it on it's glorious days.
I would climb on the time machine, which resembles the bicycle-looking one from the older movie based on the Jules Verne novel, and journey back to a time in California decades ago when a young man was forming a small indie company named Blizzard. I would greet him and say, "Have I got a deal for you..."
I can't say for a future game as these days you can't trust a company to launch with what they say they will or with the same vision they started with that captured your attention. I'd take a long look at Archage (to see if they kept their initial vision) and short peek World of Darkness (to see how stupid ridculous their item mall is with their "cosmetic" and "power" items for sale).
"Many nights, my friend... Many nights I've put a blade to your throat while you were sleeping. Glad I never killed you, Steve. You're alright..."
If I would retain current memories then I'd only want to look further and further into the future(starting with what has been announced now). Going into the past to play an MMO will only be for the purpose of the community and people to play with, not so much for the enjoyment of the games themselves.

I think it was called Silicon and Synapse when they first started and changed their names a bunch of times before settling on Blizzard
yar.. i didn't post in the last thread because i thought it would be silly to spend your last 30 days of life playing mmo's
if you had 30 days of bedrest though hrmm... honestly id probably try a bunch of different mmo's and not be satisfied... i think i'd be more "entertained" by single player games or 36 max FPS room games atm
I absolutely love the concept of MMO games.... it just fails to live up to the epic experience i imagine atm

Past - Asheron's Call 1 at release and onward.
Future - World of Darkness
The Secret World - You never said I couldn't go forward in time.
To the Future: I'd probably skip ahead and start playing GW2.
To the past: Allods Online NA, the very first month of open beta, best gaming experience ever.
Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...
LOL I would play Fat Slooobs and Loner's Online and would BE one too.! Can you say, "Cabin Fever"
Seriously though, it would be Secret World or TERA.

Man Of Constant Sorrow
Asheron's Call or SWG (Pre NGE).

go future and get winning lottery numbers..

SWG | EVE | WOW | VG | LOTRO | WAR | FML | STO | APB | AOC | MORTAL | WOT | BP | SW:TOR
I would go back to 2002 and play DAoC
Go back to 2002 and play DAOC of course
I would goto the past and play Earth and Beyond on day 3 or 4.
Then jump over to SWG on day 2.
And if I had times jump into the future and play ArcheAge.
If I would retain current memories then I'd only want to look further and further into the future(starting with what has been announced now). I'd have to say I'd travel back to 2000 when Kunark came out for EQ1 and play an Iksar Necro or Monk.
I'd go into the future to play World of Darkness *if* and *only if* werewolves are a playable race. Who gives a dried-up crap about vampires?

DAoC, without a doubt
Tried: Most MMO's, Playing: EQ2
Id go forward a few hundred years and see what they do for entertainment.
