So the launch date for North America is today? That's awesome. I thought it was still unannounced, playable in Europe only.
Time to go back to it and start building a space station that won't be deleted in the Beta Wipe
No hype, little fanfare, game "launches", just like that.
What's the catch?
Yet another under-funded indie effort that needs revenue to survive? Or is there a full MMORPG there to play?

A friend of mine downloaded this game in the open beta just to try it out and I stopped by at his place to give it a go myself.
I don't know much about. What I do know is that when I tried it the controls were so unbelievably squirrely that it was literally unplayable. I'm not joking and I'm not being spitefull. I sat down to try it with no pre-concieved notions because I hadn't been following the game's development at all.
My friend said he had already done everything he could to try improve the control when flying the ship. Well, it didn't help because it was truely awfull. Seriously, I don't think I've ever played any other game; single player, co-op, or MMO that had worse controls than this game.
After that I didn't bother learning anything more about it.
Neanderthal, what you're saying is total crap or at least nothing more then a personal opinion
I personally thought the controls where spot on, it took a little getting used to and i loved them after that, so you're either really hating on this game, or both of you just plain suck at it.
This.
The controls felt fine to me without any adjustment. They actually did pretty good in that aspect. It just takes getting used to.
I'm just telling it as I experienced it. I don't know enough about the game to hate it. I never would have even tried it if my friend hadn't downloaded it for the open beta.
I also will freely admit that I didn't spend much time with it. I spent maybe 20 minutes trying to fly around and it was so ridiculously bad that I couldn't take any more of it after that.
If it's not like that for other people then I don't know what the problem was. My friend has a pretty new computer so I wouldn't think it's his machine causing the problem but who knows.
All I know is that what we tried on his computer was so bad we were both shaking our heads at how awfull it was.
The controls are one of the better aspects of this game, especially when compared to similar free offerings such as BSG Online.
Yeah i thought the controls were fine, what i couldnt handle was the ammount of lag in the pvp areas, but maybe that was just beta "no it wasnt my connection, was constant", if they got that sorted then it would be a really nice game, just quite a few complaints ive seen about the way the cash shop works, but i didnt really use it, as i only played it for a week.
I was totally surprised to here this released. I had been watching it at some point and forgot about it, but I remember it looked cool. Looking forward to seeing some review threads here from you all.
Just remembered it is being published by gamigo -_- I think that's why I took it off my watchlist.
Yeah, controls were fine for me as well, with the keyboard and mouse. Took a minute to learn the keybindings and I was good.
It was the depth of the game that turned me off. Granted I did not get extremely far in the game, but in the time I spent in closed and open beta, there just didn't seem to be a whole lot to the game. Just some missions, choose a faction, do some meaningless pvp, etc. I KNOW there is more, but just what I saw did not entice me to look for more.
I'll give it a go again someday. However due to Steam's recent summer sale, that may be a while!
Unfortunately Gamigo company is a RACIST, not release the game to South American. Look message I get when trying to register on the site GAMIGO.
We're afraid you can not play this game in your location. Sorry.
Sorry my english.
ive been playing this game sence the start of closed beta its very fun and gives something new besides EVE online
and the controls are just fine and if you think its so bad id like to see you make better controlls
in fact be happy theres another space mmo besides EVE the space/sifi genre is my favorite type of game and these games are hard to come by for reasons of how to play making controlls for a space game is not easy and takes more work on then making the games universe its self. So instead of giving this game bad rep rethink on how hard it is to make a space game and the hard work it took to do this stuff
Your english is fine but your understanding of the word racist is way off. Not releasing a video game in a particular country is not racist unless they come out with a press-release that states "We are not releasing this game in South America because we hate black people". They can have a lot of reasons for not releasing something in a particular region, but it isn't going to be based on racial opinion. How would they know the race of the people buying a game? They can't, so it can't be racist.
If they discriminate due to nationality then that's another thing. Still not likely though, and unfortunately within their professional rights even if they do. I think every company in the world only releases their products in specific countries.
Why would you even want to play this game when you have Taikodom:Living Universe which is as far as I know only released in South America?
Wow, don't dare make a comment contrary to the fanboi ethos. They will eat you alive. Sorry Neanderthal. The forum for posting your opinion without being told you suck is the next website on the right.
I've been playing the EU version on/off for a month or two now and I'm having fun, and yes, the controls are pretty poor (not up to par with Vendetta Online, for example)
However, my major complaint resides with the cash shop and the fact that absolutely nothing in it is of any interest to me, I don't particularly want items that might make the mind numbingly bad crafting system actually work, XP boosts? meh. It seems that if you don't care about staying ultra competitive in PvP or crafting then the cash shop is somewhat superflous.

No Userbar here, sorry to disappoint.
The controls are fine, the problem is most likely lag, which really was bad, didn't play it in a while, because the main problem was the missing story.
The tutorial is really done well, but after that, there was no story, and just flying arond for the sake of flying around is boring.
Also, i don't get why some complain about the cash shop. Isn't it good if there is nothing you would want in there? Means, you do not have to pay money to enjoy the game.
I'll wait to the day's end when the moon is high
And then I'll rise with the tide with a lust for life, I'll
Amass an army, and we'll harness a horde
And then we'll limp across the land until we stand at the shore
1 thing i hate about people that plays games mainly PC games which is why i stick to console if they forget the meaning of this word right here >>>>BETA<<<<
does no one know what beta mean??
because its really pathetic when people bitch about a game in beta when they signed the user agreement and also should know what they are testing. If you don't like the controls then eather switch to a game pad or learn how to play with a keyboard and with space games beta's are long and controlls are always reworked if needed
and its even more pathetic when a person comes to a forum website like here and bitches about the game rather then thinking of ways to improve the game and sending a message to the dev's
think ppl have a very good understanding of that word on this site m8.

Is there PvE on this at all?? I know a large % of the universe likes PvP, but really, I don't. Is there really a story and a progression or this is for space fights?
To the bro with the beta comment, I think we do know what beta is. In Beta you iron out issues before release. But content and flow of the game is already set and you would not change much of that on beta, unless it truly sucks and you have to go back to the drawing board. Mostly, on beta, MMOs test load issues and bugs related to execution. So if the game doesn't have a good story and interface in beta, I wouldn't expect it to change much in the near future.
Oh, back to the game. How is the download?
Tested this game Beta, it has good mechanics and it looked promising.. But much lag at growded area and content just died after starting area and it got to really repeatitive mission grinding..which was dissapointing. much potential in game but needs extend the story based gameplay to later levels imho.
Still waiting for privateer/wing commander mmo but i'd give this 7/10
Here is how a beta MMO is these days:
Bugs and problems are identified and reported to the developers. Usually, problems persist week after week. Then, 2 weeks before launchday, still nothing has been done and still no word of any patch adressing the issues.
There is, however, a brand new cash shop.
Tadaaa!
Enter MMORPG.com. RAAAAAAAAAAAAGE!
The thing is that this game is long out of beta. Do you know the meaning of "launch day"?
