"The order in which you redeem your Pre-order Code is the order in which you will gain Early Game Access before the game’s official release. So don’t wait and pre-order now!"
It says, make sure to enter your code so you get pre access... nothing about 'the order in which you..." They want the codes entered early so they have preorder numbers and that's the single easiest way for them to track em.
Actually, I stand corrected... it DOES say that... just on another page. WoW - ok I understand the feeding frenzy now.
LucasArts Marketing Department is remarkably good at what they do...
I had some trouble out of game stop with my duke nukem forever pre order. I ordered the balls of steel edition with the duke statue , and got the normal edition becasue the did not ship enough to the store.
I went to the party they had that night to pick it up, but they only had 4 but 5 guys there to pick it up. I have to say they made it right by refunding my money, and gave me a 20 dollar in store credit.
However I did not pre order from them this time I went and got it straight from ea.
Game stop used to be a great place to do business with but now all they have is teen agers running the store, who don't know how to do anything right, well at least at the location closest to where I live. All they seam to want to do is sell me used copies. I had 2 or 3 returns because the disk was so scratched my xbox360 would not run what I got. When I asked to get a new version of the game it was like hey we have another copy here for 20 bucks. So obviously they cant keep much in stock.
I dislike Amazon for one reason, half the time the stuff gets to my house the box is destroyed, because ups has no clue how to treat a package.
I did the same thing, pre-ordered from Gamestop and then got screwed on the Pre-Order code. I likewise sent them an email and lost my 'cancel order' button. I gave customer service a call direct at (800) 883-8895 and asked them to cancel. There were no questions besides what my order number was, and the woman there cancelled it all out for me in about 30 seconds.
Then I went to Amazon and pre-ordered and got the code in about a minute later, and also saved $20 on tax and shipping.
Just call Gamestop Customer Service direct and have them cancel for you.
I've had some preorder cancellation problems myself with gamestop. If I recall right I tried to get them to cancel it but it was too far along in the process even though their website didn't say so and I had to wait for it to ship and then return it in their store (no shipping refund). So because of that and their higher shipping/tax cost they will be the last option if I do that again.

the problem is, the CE is sold out everywhere else.
So if you cancel your Gamestop CE order, you're boned.
I had the issue where I got the Gamestop Code after ordering the collectors edition, but the code was for the standard addition. I have to wait until tomorrow to resolve it. I have EA who said they are looking into it and an email to Gamestop customer service to hopefully look into it after denying that the code makes a difference whether it pops up as Collectors or Standard.
Well when i Preordered the CE version on GS website the only way to get a code was to have a home store applyied to your acount . after that i called them and the clerk Gave me the code over the phone. But what worries me if the game comes out one day but i dont get the physical game until release then are they gonna do a digital download for the early release or do u still have to wait on the physical CD to still play??
Just heard from EA, was told its not their problem and I have to take it up with the 3rd party vendor. Yup, looks like EA/Bioware gonna become the new Blizzard when it comes to dealing with issues."
what do you really expect EA to do here if the party you bought from is having issues with giving out codes? Do you just want EA to give you another code? Do you want them to call that party for you? Idk but it makes sense to me that it's not EA's problem to fix issues like that, unless you are buying from origin of course.
I also find it amusing that people still pre-order stuff from gamestop. Every single time a new MMO comes out, it seems there are always countless threads saying how gamestop didn't give them their code and all that. I have never pre-ordered something from them, so I wouldn't know first hand what their service is like, but why complain if we already knew that this was a possibility with them?
I Pre-Ordered from Gamestop yesterday, and the same day I received the email with my pre-order code. I immediately went online to SWTOR and input my pre-order code so I can get into the beta when available.
Does anybody know if you pre order from Amazon do you get the pre order code instantly after you purchase it? Just wanted to know cause I stopped by Gamestop this morning and the Duff that worked there didn't know what I was talking about and asked did I want to pre order it on PS3. Thanks in advance.
Amazon has more instock now. If you switch from Gamestop to Amazon you could save about 20 bucks if you use the prime trial. Just remember to cancel the trial.

As I said before, I've never had a problem pre-ordering from Gamestop and getting any applicable code(s). My advice? If pre-ordering is supposed to get you some sort of early access/bonus item/whatever code, don't do it online - talk face to face with a real live person. Go to the store, pre-order the game, ask for the code, and don't leave the store until you get what you're supposed to get. And if the clerk doesn't know, get the manager.
Really, how hard can this be?

I put money down on SWTOR last month, went into Gamestop today and got my preorder code. Never had a problem with Gamestop that the employees in my local store weren't able to fix.
Of course, I didn't buy the CE I just got the standard edition.
I preordered mine from origin and had my code within 5 minutes of the order. Since i dont have a gamestop closer then an hr to me this was the easiest way for me.
Assholes don't let you cancel your order even if it's only a few hours old. Wanted to switch to Amazon since gamestop don't care how long you wait for your codes. A big price like 175$ is not enough to get quick service it seems. Should have read the forums BEFORE choosing a company. Got screwed again.
edit: gamestop not spot... did the error twice... fail
I went to Gamestop yesterday preordered had code in my hand when i left . Should of got your lazy ass off the chair and gone into the store . and dont gimmie the oh its too far because if it was you wouldnt have ordered it from there in first place . Any halfway intelligent person would know if they had no intention of picking it up at midnight release you order from amazon or one of those sights. not saying you didnt get screwed just if you want something right you have to leave the basement and go out into that bright ball in the sky they call the sun
I recommend not buying the CE at all.. buy the standard edition and do yourselves a favor..... This game isn't doing great things and believe me this is more than likely a money grab.

Not even sure why anyone can claim a collector's edition would ever be anything but a so called "money grab". They are selling a product and people want stuff that may seem useless to you. CEs are for the fans who usually will pay tons of money just to get that extra doodad in the box. If you don't think it is worth it, don't buy it. Don't claim that everyone else is wrong in doing so. They are going to charge people as much as they think people will pay because they want to make money. It is the way the world works.

though the stuff including including the keycode generator would be nice to have i am a sw fanboy but i cant see spending that much money before christmas have to think of the children
I put a deposit of $5 for Moria when LOTRO was expanding. I kept calling to see when it would come in. They didnt have it even after a month after release. By then I bought digital through Turbine. I went by to either get a $5 discount on a purchase or my $5 back and they say they couldn't find the deposit in their system.
Gamestop changed their policies on Pre-Orders somewhat recently. I went in to pick up a game, and had $10 credit left over from pre-orders I didn't pick up. The clerk applied the credit to my purchase, but told me that they were changing how their pre-orders work, since folks were getting things like beta keys and not picking up the games. I can't blame them really. Of course, I only ever put $5 down on the games I pre-order, so I'm only out 5-10 bucks (depending if I pre-order for the wife too), so it's not that big of a deal.
As always, buyer beware, make sure you fully understand the fine print in whatever purchase you are making.
Well, good news, sort of. According to Bioware support, it doesnt matter for the early access whether it pops up as Standard or Collections. Here is the correspondences between me and them. This is sort of what GameStop said as well. Now when they release the details and if for some reason the Collectors Edition gets an earlier head start, I'll worry about it then. For now I'm not loosing any sleep over any of this.

We can confirm that there is no longer any need to amend the code attached to your account. Any code applied to your account will grant you access into the Head Start program.
Please do not be concerned if when going into the ‘My Account’ section the edition listed there is incorrect. When you receive your product code at launch and apply this to your account this will then grant you all relevant in-game items that are associated with the version that you have purchased.
That 'droid' business is really fantastic. They are already setting the atmosphere for this game by roleplaying customer service, lol.

Thank you for your quick response, the concern from the forums was:
1) That those who have the collectors edition will be granted earlier access than those that have other editions (like Standard).
2) Whether or not you could use your collector addition ingame items during the early access.
From your response, the answer is no to both, right? If so, then you're right..I have no need to be concerned.
