First off i,ll say i,m not the biggest star wars fan ,but do you guys not think that your hyping this game up too much.majority of you have'nt even had a chance to play the game yet and your spending a fortune on CE copies. Now dont get me wrong guys but after all the hype of such games as conan and others should you not aire on the side of caution given all the problems that some games releases have brought nothing but pain and misery to thousands.
Personally i really hope you enjoy this game ,i just hope spending all that hard earned coin does'nt backfire on you guys.

$150 is a fortune?
The most anyone has spent at this point is $20. There is ample time to digest new information released, the possiblility of getting into the beta to look for your self. Leaving plenty of time to cancel if you believe you pre-ordered too hastily.
In the event you're still excited for the game come release time, it is comforting to know you have your copy secured and you are near the top of the list for early access.
Sure, but then again, I think I have more faith in BioWare producing a quality MMORPG than I do Funcom who have failed every time to produce a quality MMORPG at launch and Arenanet who not only have never released an MMO before but have only one other game to their credit as a development studio.
That is, of course, not to say that The Secret World and Guild Wars 2 won't be polished and successful games. In fact, I believe both games will achieve some measure of success, but I don't understand why so many people are determined that this game is doomed to fail when pretty much every other MMORPG is in the same position of being overhyped and developed by a studio that is unfamiliar to quality MMOs. I like to think some people on the forums just like to go agains the grain of popular opinion. It's the same reason people play Rift while bashing World of Warcraft. They're more or less putting their eggs in the same basket but they simply like the fact that they're some of the few that are doing so.
You only need to plunk down 5 bucks at the EA Origins store, mind you some versions maybe out of stock already.
It depends on how you went about making your decision to buy the game. If it was an impulse buy just because it went on sale and you might miss the CE. Then you could have made a mistake. If you have been following the game for 2 years and have digested everything you could about the game. Then you are safe in making the purchase.
BW is a safe bet for a fun game at launch. At the very least, you have paid for 6 KOTOR SPG games. If you just play one class from each faction out of eight total. So just on the story content alone, you are fine IMO.
How many people long for that "past, simpler, and better world," I wonder, without ever recognizing the truth that perhaps it was they who were simpler and better, and not the world about them?

Even at $150.00 I think I am probably getting a small bagain. The apparent size and content of this game alone should keep me entertained for at least 3 months, breaking down to $60 a month at that time, which means I am saving $10.00 or more over buying a decent console game every month. Seeing as they seldom keep me occupied for a month, I make out in the end. On top of all that though is the fact that MMOs are seldom static like most console games are so new content gets added AND then there is the teaming factor which most other types of games can not even begin to replicate.
So no, I haven't wasted my money at all nor made any kind of mistake.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
First off conan wasnt really "Hyped" there were not that many people looking forward to that game as it came out while wow was still the biggest things since sliced bread. As for this game flopping...there is a chance all games run that risk but if you go back over the past 6 years of bioware history you wouldnt be able to find a game that has flopped. Yes the MMO market is a very very tuff one but Bioware and EA have been working on this game for going on 8 years now. Will it have its kinks probally but from what im hearing from my roommate at comic-con and a few friends that got to partake in E3 the game is anything short of amazing. So was my 150$ spent wisely? (even tho i havnt actually spent the whole 150 yet) as of now yes i do believe it was because the faster they make back production costs the faster even more content can be funded .
i am not saying the game is doomed to fail..i really do hope it does well.for everyone concerned.i sometimes worry that maybe a game i think i,m going to like is,nt going to measure up to what i think it will be like.
And seriously, if a game causes you pain and misery then you should seek help. Games are just entertainment, not real life.

The only people who don't make mistakes are those who don't do anything. I don't fear this type of purchase.

umm...i have a good job, and i get paid very well. So for me the money is not an issue. I just hope the game is good.
Currently Playing: SSFIV AE, SFxTekken, SWTOR, WoW. Waiting for: GW2, Resident Evil 6.
X2 for us However the SO and I simply decided that we would cut out our morning Lattes, in less than 2 months the purchases are paid for
I do not fear making a mistake by spending $150 on a possible fail game.
[Mod Edit]
i am pretty sure people that bought the CE, including me, have the HUGE amount of AMAZING money amount of 150 (it took me 20 years to get it) are ok. 150? yeah...we wanted it....so we bought it. we're not making a huge mistake. the end. i love pointless threads.
UK here too, and honestly, £130 for the CE is less than I spend on a night out.
It is not a fortune, not even a small one.
A creative person is motivated by the desire to achieve, not the desire to beat others.
The money isn't that much.
I mean, I'm not interested in a collector's edition (so just did the deluxe) but I just treated friends to a movie so that's $60 there including myself. Then I paid for my Girl friend's dinner so that's another $15 right there (we went to a cafe so not very expensive).
So all together with my dinner I paid $87 or a bit more. On one night.
I could easily play a game for a month or so so any amount I spend on the game would easily make itself back.
I think at worst SWToR will be a competent game so even if I purchased the collector's edition it really wouldn't be a big deal.

My expectations are resonable. 150$ is nowhere near a fortune, for me. Unlike you, I like starwars alot and I see myself playing this game for many years unless it is really subpar (read: darkfall, mortal online etc. no offense to ppl enjoying said games! but they are not top notch titels) and I dont see how that can seriously happen with Bioware producing it. Will it be WoW in space? With a few new features that's actually good enough for me. I'm not expecting an MMO revolution or the next coming of christ. I'm still buying the CE tho.
Honestly $150 for some bioware and star wars goodness sounds like a bargain too me. Bioware has an amazing track record and the Star Wars franchise has produced some of my favourite games ever (KOTOR and Dark Forces 2 in particular). My main gripe is that preorder is not available in Australia so I had to preorder the CE from Amazon.com.
You beat me to it. I have spent more money in one night at bar with friends.
Only mistake I'm wondering about is if I should have done the CE and not just the digital standard, hrmmm.
But that is it I am 100% certain I can get 2-3 months of entertainment at the bare minimum from the game and in that case it is money well spent. Not many hobbies are as cheap as MMOs relatively speaking for how much time you can spend on them.
You make it sound like people have been physically injured and mutilated by games that have failed or that they've suffered some terrible heartbreak. It's a GAME for crying out loud and 60 to 70 bucks isn't that much of a risk. For those who bought the CE they can probably ebay that statue alone and make their money back if they so desired.
This is something I'm absolutely sick of hearing about. People whining and complaining over a stupid game. You know what, if TOR fails I'll go on with my life. You won't see me here moaning and crying about it nor all in a rage. I understand that there are people who do that, especially in the MMORPG.com community, but they are a minority who are far too caught up in gaming than they should be. I suspect those who are making all these so called warnings are the same people. No I'm not saying I won't be disappointed, but it's not something I'm going to dwell on for any length of time.
First of all, 150€ isnt very much to me, and that's not the amount you have to pay to play the game if that's all someone is considering. Second, I've played most of Bioware's games and I've yet to be dissapointed, I dont believe I'll be dissapointed this time either.
When Kotor was released back then, we talked with some friends how much fun it would be to play it in co-op and it seems we finally get to do it
You got good point, but as far as I know, just about any retailer will let you cancel/refund your pre-order even after the game releases.

Mistake? Hell no!
This CE is going to sell for twice the price in a matter of weeks after launch, a lot more if the game really delivers and reaches cult status. But even if it does fail, the real fans will pay premium for the CE and that will let me play for free, pay for some other games and a few nights out with friends.
This is not even a risky investment with an IP like StarWars.
Thanks to whoever invented Collectors Editions, best friggin idea ever!
