World of Warcraft: Rumor: Is 'Mists of Pandaria' the Next WoW Expansion?

The folks over at MMO-Champion may have uncovered the name of Blizzard's next World of Warcraft expansion.
The report notes that Blizzard has filed a trademark for 'Mists of Pandaria' on July 28th, is categorized as 'computer game software,' and uses the international code of 041, a code that, according to MMO-Champion, has only shown up in Blizzard's online game trademark filings.
Could this be the title of Blizzard's next World of Warcraft expansion? We'll be sure to let you know if we find out anything!

I believe they hinted at the next expansion bringing the next Hero Class to their game. If its set in Pandaria, then I could see a Brewmaster appearing.
Being my favorite race/class from WCIII, I dreamed of such an expansion for years. Now I just have no interest, after 25 exalted reps, countless hours of raids upon raids upon raids, the emotional rollercoaster of pugging, and the rapid addition of the same formulated content.
ps; didn't Blizzard do the same thing for the title Emerald Dream? or am i remembering wrong.

If it's a Hero Class, which it should be, then it will be available to both sides. Still, without playable Pandarens, it won't be the same.

One thing is a fact Blizz is been very busy it seems to stay ahead of the curve this year. I hope they can pull it off. I guess time will tell.

Great forum topic. No way to prove for or against the next expansion being named this. However, if this is actually true ... and you don't think woW has jumped the shark yet ... this would be the point where it finally happens. Going this route would truly turn the game into a characture of itself.
I think the Outland portals provide a much more interesting alternative for the next expansion, but I also think TBC was the golden age of the game too and everything since has basiclaly been downhill.
If you don't worry about it, it's not a problem.
Since when WOW took itself seriously? the Pandarians originated in Warcraft 3 if you ever played that game. it has nothing to do with Kung Fu panda. Pandarians are part of World of Warcraft universe.
As a 6 year old player of WoW (i stopped a few months ago) i have to say that although i now have ZERO interest in the game, the adition of the Panderan as a playable HORDE race, would bring me back to the game. I've been waiting for this since vanilla wow.
i'd take kung fu pandas over mechanohogs any second. besides, how much difference could be between pandaren and furbolgs or quillboars? antrophomorphic animals are nothing new in WOW.
True but to highlight kung fu pandas as a major selling point of the next expansion . Big mistake even in a game that does'nt take itself too seriously . This wont be the next expansion . Its not exciting enough when theres plenty of other things that Blizzard could be concentrating on for the next expansion . It is only just a rumour and someone wanting a bit of a laugh at the expence of Warcraft fans that take it seriously . I think the want to see how many of them they can fool .
No but you did make it sound as if Blizzard just came up with a new race to cash in the success of Kung Fu Panda when Pandarians have existed for years now. They are very much part of Warcraft lore and universe eventhough later on they became canon.
And believe it or not but a lot of Warcraft fans would love to see this race as playable and i see nothing stupid about using races from WOW universe that can bring something new (eastern settings in case of Pandas) or fun to an already amazing game.
your wrong, about 2 or 3 years ago there was a leaked blizz roadmap for wow, and the pandaren was penned in back then as an expansion, as I recall todate that leaked file got everything else right bar the name of the burning crusade which they changed.
Blizzard has trade makred the pandarn name now like they did with tbc and wrath so its not a rumour.
tbh tho its to little to late, i suspect with this expansion their going to try and pull in the 3 to 10 year old crowd who love kung fu panda type's

While these documents are not confirmed by Blizzard to be true, they have also not been denied by them.

Isnt there a big who'ha over depicting violence to pandas in china? Just as blizzard had to make changes to wrath (removal of bones etc)? If so I see this as an unlikey expansion.

I was joking when I made the Kung Fu panda comment lol Why on earth would Blizzard want to cash in on a movie like that . I can't believe anyone would take me seriously when I said that . Now I can see why some people are taking this rumour seriously . They can't tell when someones having them on . This definatly isn't the next Warcraft expansion but it does show how many fans of the game would swallow up anything Blizzard cared to put out . They could have a race of giant mutant chickens and an egg throwing class and some Warcraft fans would think it was the best thing since sliced bread .
Not even one comment here so far even hinted towards 'its the best thing slice bread'. But thanks for exaggeration. The point here is not whether it is the next expansion or not but that Pandas are an old race and part of WOW universe. This is not a new race so your comment regarding 'chickens and egg throiwng class' is null. I am 100% sure you didn't even know that panda's first came into origin in Warcraft 3. Fans have been 'swalloing' them even before WOW existed so it is not something out of the blue.
This looks more believable then Mists of Pandaria. Could be they are adding Pandaria with this expansion, as they talk about adding fan favorite races over adding any new classes cause of balancing being to much work.

Bioware trademark almost every combination of different titles for anything they can possibly come up with. I doubt it's the next expansion.

The transcripts of blizzcon seem more down blizzards alley than Pandaran + new hero class. Blizzard is more about re-hashing content / not taking risks lately. Maybe even some cash shop stuff in there.
I noticed some interesting content on this document that smells too much of april fool. I noticed even there are some supposedly spoiler on the document as well. So i will go with 'this-is-an-april-fool document.'
