Would you play WoW again...

...If it added an Appearence Tab that would allow you to use a cool armor's look without giving up stats, thereby giving players massive amounts of new freedom to customize their characters?

The answer is 42 you idiot!

unless they don't fire Ghostcrawler and Activision bringing back the old team, theres absolutely no way I will touch this game ever again. Appearence tabs wouldn't change that maybe a tiny bit but overall, no.

We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!

Ghostcrawler's kinda taken a back seat of late and what has Activison got to do with the WoW team? or Blizzard at all they are seperate companies.

    For the record;

    1. Activision did not buy blizzard

    2. Activision did not merge with Blizzard

    3. Blizzard is owned by Vivendie

    4. Activision was bought by Vivendie

    5. Vivendie created a holding company called Activision/Blizzard (in name alone)

    6. Activision has nothing at all to do with the direction or decisions Blizzard makes and vice-versa

    7. You will not see any mension of Activision or Activision/Blizzard on any Blizzard game or products

    8. Bobby kotick does not run/own/manage or have any say in Blizzard games.

I played wow for approximately 8 months and have seen absolutely nothing that even comes close to drawing my attention back towards it.......If you think of it as an ex-girlfriend you'll understand what I mean.....

I am currently playing it again. Even though appearance tab would be nice i don't think it will make much difference to me. Although it might be very important for others.

Either you're on the payroll, or you had a big gulp of the kool-aid, my friend.

Kotick is the CEO of the Activision-Blizzard holdings company.  If you do a little research, you'll see he had a lead role in the creation of said company (a financial merger of Activision and Blizzard's holdings).  If you don't live under a socialist propoganda rock, you know that money trumps everything else in this world.

It is true that Blizzard remains an independant studio, but to say Kotick has no influence over what they develop, or how they do so, is laughable.  He who controls the purse strings, controls what ultimately gets done.

If you have any doubts, just look at the purely marketing-driven release structure of Starcraft 2.  Was there any development reason to split the game into three equal chunks and sell them for $60 each?  Couldn't they have relesed the core game as a $60 chunk and planned the other two parts as expansions, like every other RTS has done to date?  It was simple math.  $180 vs. $140.  Nobody will pay full price for expansions, but if they call them seperate games... BAM!

Blizzard will retain control as long as they continue to increase revenue.  Once their numbers slip beyond some threshold value, I'm sure Kotick put clauses in the contracts to allow Activision-Blizzard to replace key personnel and play a more active role in future development.

This was one of the dumbest, most lol-worthy posts I have read in a long time. Blizzard has freedom because they are the golden goose, it is as simple as that. Eventually, when and if they stop laying the golden eggs, they will be treated like every other Activision studio and have restrictions placed upon them.

And to answer the OP, an appearance tab would actually be pretty neat, I would love to run around in my Tier 2 Judgement set with full stats. Unfortunately WoW has problems far beyond appearances, and without them addressing the dfficulty of the game and the new content, and without them throwing something truely new and exciting at me, I will not be returning to Azeroth.

Stopped playing one week after I bought and BC was released, never been back or felt like going back, had fun when I played though but not fun enough to continue.

And don't feel that what ever WoW would bring new into the game would make me want to play it again. Nothing wrong with the game, just not my type of game anymore.

I do believe an appearance tab is desperatley needed. It really does suck having to look exactly like everyone else. This is a major annoyance when it comes to pvp. Alas, that is only one problem with a game that has quite a few.

This link should provide those thinking that Blizzard is still the same with some much needed information (old but gold).

    http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2009/4/15/former-blizzard-employee-talks-about-activision-blizzard.aspx

Its coming from a former Blizzard employee.

Still don't state crap like Activision doesn't have an influence. Morhaime is not the boss he used to be:

    see here:  http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/03/31/acti-blizz-restructuring-assigns-new-executive-to-blizzard/

    Basically ou know have.

KotDick (this name is pure gold thanks to massively lol) >>> Tippl (koticks BFF)  >>> Morhaime in fact Morhaime has 2 bosses now influencing him and his decissions.

As long as these two wont be gone Blizzard will never be the same, simple asthat and yes, it does affect their 1.000 pound gorilla too wheter you like it or not, its the sad truth.

I played it for many thousands of hours and years.  I love wow and will always go back every once in awhile to enjoy what it has to offer.  I was one of the people that didnt want to see the direction change from vanilla wow, I thought they could have gone a different direction but alas they did what everquet 1 did and start releasing x-paks.

Erm. No. Really, appearance tab? Is hardly the issue i have with WoW. Sorry. No amount of fluff is going to change my decission unless some parts of core gameplay and design philosophy will change, and that won't happen anytime soon. Can only hope that the rumored "Titan" will be something better.

  • KhrymsonKhrymson Member UncommonPosts: 3,090

Screw an appearance tab, most the gear in the past few years all looks the same anyway, so it wouldn't change much.  What I'd much rather prefer to see is "Housing and an Alternate Advancement" system like EQII has.  Rift is getting AA soon, and solo dungeons, which are a massive plus to them, so I'd rather crawl back in bed with Trion.

Rage of fire dailys are insanelly fun but they need to make npc more agressive also they need to balance faction server

I find it retarded that appearance tabs aren't in all modern MMO's (WoW has enough of a dev team to be on par with the modern ones).

Lotro has it and its one of the best features about the game.  Not a single person looks the same and the game is better for it.  Anyone who thinks it will ruin PvP with that stupid silhouette crap (a quick mouse over works too...) will be happy to know that Lotro found a solution in that appearance items are disabled in pvp areas.

As for whether it would make me play WoW again...no.  I have had my fill of that game forever and I have moved onto other MMO's (not before clocking up nearly 1000 hours though).

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

  • majimaji Member UncommonPosts: 2,091

Ewww what a horrible feature. I want to play an RPG and not some dressup makeup studio thing.

If I play a low level warrior who managed to scrounge up enough copper to buy some rusty stupid steel helmet, then my warrior should look exactly like that.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

So you're saying Blizzard has been making their own crappy decisions.

Anyway apperance tab would never bring me back.  That won't change the community.

I've played a couple of times this year for free with welcome back offers . The impression I get from the game now is that its very instance orientated . I used to like the world pvp most about it  but it doesn't really exist in any meaningful way anymore because players can port directly to instances ( same with the battlegrounds ). The effect it has had is making the gameworld seam dead outside of the citys .

I think if they offered servers without the cross server looking for group tool , no access to bgs from anywhere but the battlemaster , no xp from bgs  , no speeded up leveling and full character customisation . I proberbly would return . Essentially what I would play the game it was 4 years or so ago before they streamlined it so much it became so easy it became boring and unchallenging to play for me (and I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means) .

I guess theres some fun to still be had in it if your the type of person that like grindiing raid after raid .

Also I really hope the Pandaland expansion rumours don't end up being true because quite frankly if they are IMO it goes to show how far the game has fallen . Admitedly its still popular but I wonder how more popular it would be now had Blizzard not made some really appalling decisions in the direction its taken .

I think its really only number  1 by default because of the lack of any real competition . The minuite something really decent comes along people will leave WoW in thier millions and that may be sooner rather than later .

I, personally, want an Appearence Tab and if not better World PvP then at LEAST some PvP lakes like in Warhammer Online with keeps and such. If they added that I'd be resubbed quicker than a jackrabbit.

The answer is 42 you idiot!
