Ok, I agree. If you enjoy the game, more power to you. I am glad you have found a game you are happy with. But if what you are saying is true, why do the more rabid defenders of the game feel the need to come on these forums and marganalize and vilify the detractors of the game? I mean, just skim through some of the posts around here and we have "fans" calling those critical of the game everything from trolls to paid shills for other games (my favorite most pathetic excuse).
Glass houses, throwing stones, etc.
"fanboys" come here to talk about the game. They do so under the admittedly foolish impression that the Mortal Online Discussion forum is a good place to talk about the game, and not about stock prices. They find a bunch of people taking shots at the game left and right, of course they're gonna defend the thing they like. You make it sound like people complaining about the game is the norm, and people who play the game are somehow intruding on them.
About fans saying detractors are paid shills... do you even realize the detractors call the fans paid shills much, much, much more frequently than the other way around? Seriously, I've been accused of being a paid 'viral marketting' agent, of being Maerlyn, Black Opal, and Henrik himself. Come on now, this very thread was designed to twist fans' words around to insult the game they enjoy playing.
I honestly do no understan how you infer this from my post but whatever. Look, I have no issue with defending a game you like. What I take issue with is how some of the more rabid defenders of this (and other MMOs for that matter) seem to take a personal afront if someone belittles the game they play.
As to the second paragrapgh of your reply... So because the "other" side does it, that makes it right? Really? That's the defense. Are we in grade school or what???
I think the issue was that you were only chastising the fans, and by omission, making it appear that they are the only ones that engage in such behavior. Such a one-sided comment really appears to be heavily biased, or at least, does not accurately reflect reality.
As an example: for anyone that's participated on this forum for more than a day can tell you, accusations of being a "shill" are far, far more commonly aimed at fans of the game, by something approximating a 100:1 ratio. To me, it's pretty dishonest to complain about the scant few times it's been directed at critics of the game, while giving the overwhelming majority of times it happens a complete pass.
No, we're not in grade school. We're also not at the RNC or DNC, where one-sided rhetoric reigns supreme. Intellectual honesty is better served if such observations are fairly applied to all concerned, without favoritism or bias.
Also in a player house you could literally drop anything in your pack and put it on the ground and some people were pretty damn imaginative in some of the things they would do here are some pics...
Now we all know that MO has "territory Control" that is more roleplay than actual feature. Hell I was a member of the Matriarch Forum when CIR and all thier alliance allies said "we want territory control or we quit with all our members. Three weeks later we have what we now call territory control.
Player housing is a house with a work bench. No decoration no custimzation. Rains inside the house and most houses do not even have a light source. So you wither need to place a campfire or torch on the ground to light the place.
I seriously can not believe you say SWG pre NGE was not a sandbox.. I do not see any of you fanbot friends backing you up on that crap of a claim...
Or do you need other features?? Like social clothing? Or the many different skills like tailoring? Or actually having to hunt a node down to get materials? And then that node emptying out and you have to find another node not like MO's static nodes that ore magically refills 45 mins later??
LIke I said with your definition of a sandbox that makes UO not one either are you saying that as well?

Really? Have you counted or is this more of pulling numbers out of our...
Regardless, if anyone would care to waste some time, go through my post history and see that I have been supportive of some "fan" posts on here while at the same time being critical of some of the nay sayers. However, my view still stands that fans of the game tend to be overly protective of criticism of their beloved title and are more likely to respond with personal or ad hominem attacks. Just my view bro, no need to get riled up about it.
Lastly, I take exception to you calling me dishonest. If I had repeatedly joined in the rabid attacks against MO or decended to the level of personal attacks against posters as some on here do, I would agree with you. Just because I don't go out of my way to denounce every angry poster with a vendetta against MO doen't mean I agree with them. I just find it pointless and counter productive to give more attention to people who are obviously engaging in attention seeking behavior. Hell, I don't do it for the games I really like, I sure as hell am not going to do it for a sub-par product like MO.
P.S. Pulling numbers from thin air and then bringing up "intellectual honesty" smaks a bit of hypocrisy...
A man is his own easiest dupe, for what he wishes to be true he generally believes to be true...
I have taken a trial to see if this game had really improved, but sadly apart from the graphics which are definatly much better than before, the game hasn't really changed that much at all...
I do notice some pickables which weren't there before altho they are too little kinds...Else...Well, Tindrem the great capital city is still just a wall with nothing behind it and nobody around, no boats, everyone wearing the same armors, same helmets, same weapons...
Still no mages with cool looking scepters (cool doesn't mean fancy and unrealisic fyi) and wearing nice mage robes, nobody dual wielding light weapons, ie: a thief/rogue type dual wielding dagguers...
still a very small world that's completely empty, the most people you can find around you is 5 and that's inside major cities...
Still no hunting grounds, no real dungeons, no place to really go seek adventure but the risar dungeon and the jungle...
I won't even talk about the bugs, but really even for someone familiar with MMO including sandbox MMO's, I just don't understand how MO can be fun because of how little there is to do in the game.
You just really quickly find yourself with nothing to do and end up bored wondering what fun there is to do.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.
Fair enough... List the sandbox tools SWG had that Mortal Online doesn't.
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
Are you kiding me?? First read what I just wrote there was a couple in there. "Player house custimization and decoration and player city tools."

Oh and the Wiki

Now stop trolling I really think this is a weak attempt at trolling by saying SWG was not a sandbox. I really do not think you ever played it.
