I already despise this lazy cash cow game and its community but now you really have people excited about a possible expansion with pandas? lol@World of Warcraft
I still can't believe the Pandaland expansion is real . It seamed more of a late April fools prank to me than anything else .I guess only time will tell .
Personally i've wanted to see the pandarians in the game since launch.
After all, it was one of my favorite heroes in WC3.
I just don't get why they say they can't make a world of starcraft when there is a guy who has nothing to do with Blizzard getting it done.
Lizardbones I'm standing firmly in that "other hand" you spoke of I left WOW a little after the release of TBC because it seemed that many of the types of features I would have had an interest in was nowhere near the radar of Blizzard, they were just content with the fact that they were already a hundred times bigger than all of it's competitors.
Since then I don't waste my time saying how bad the game sucks or anything just indifferent since they don't have my gaming needs in mind.

Given theres other furries in the game I suppose its not out of place but at least the Tauren were a minotaur type breed and the Worgen a little like werewolves . I think the problem is a Pandaland expansion really seams lackluster after the last three . The last two in paticular had strong protagonists in Arthas and Deathwing . I really dont see Pandas in the same way no matter how cute they are . It sounds a little too much like Kung Fu panda for my liking .

Maybe they are more creative than world of starcraft + world of warcraft
I mean come on guys seriously. 7 years later and they are just now considering putting in a ward drobe type vendor? WoW got away with..release raid...nerf raid..release raid...nerf raid FOR SEVEN YEARS.
Best competition: Aion...WAR..EQ <----go figure it is #1 when you competitors make it so easy. Blizzard has not had to compete since they over took Everquest like that was all that hard to begin with.
Actual competition equals a serious decline in subs and everyone knows it.
To those of you saying that you can see a noticable decline in WoW.
an 8-10% change in Subs should not even be noticable to the average person. How can I tell? Because if you added 8-10% to anything most people wouldn't even notice! 20% more chips in this bag! Yet it still looks the same size as the other bags!
You guys are just tryin to make some Wow fans upset and it looks like they are biting. Though Mathmatically you are nuts!

8-10 percent is Blizzards official numbers and remember thats worldwide figure so say China held onto its subs or the numbers have risen the loses regionally for the likes of the EU and NA would be even greater than the 8-10 percent and possibly as high as 20-25 percent a loss of a fifth to a quarter of a regional player base would be noticable . Also you only have to look at the number of servers at a low population to realise theres less people playing . Then again it could be argued people are subscribing but are just playing less at any one time . Also its debatable that Blizzard have underestimated the scale of losses of are simply not being honest about them . I've found that using the cross server looking for a group tool regulary takes me between 10-25 minuites to find a group ( and I'm playing a healer ) so that means there must be less people playing or at least leveling at any one time than there used to be . Again it could be everyones playing the endgame now .

Meh now WoW is ripping off EQ2 which had the Panda land expansion in Sentiels of Fate.
Personally i don't want to play any game with Pandas as a intelligent fantasy race.
EQ2 has gone all kinds of Furry, steping away from traditional fantasy races to have Badger people, Otter people, Parrot people etc etc etc Sorry for getting off track

When people are litterally throwing millions of dollars at you, you don't rock the boat and change things up. (Why fix whats not broken) You just keep doing as little as possible to maintain the status quo and keep racking in the profits. Blizzard has done that well for years now
Who ever would have though that a game in it's 7th year would loose some subs? Ya know.. I've heard this shit every year since 2006 and WoW is still on top.. not by a little, by a lot. And don't give me this "f2P" bullshit... most of those games rape your wallet and such out loud on top of it. I've played a lot of them, you know what I keep coming back to? You guessed it. It's a solid game that runs on any machine. That's why it's on top.
FACT: Warcraft will bring out a new expansion; FACT: People will be waiting outside of Gamestop to get it at midnight, if they're not digitally downloading it. Don't believe anything else. Will the subscriptions drop? Sure, why wouldn't they. The game is older then some gamers... but this is a pointless and meaningless article written by someone that no one has ever heard of saying shit that many others have been saying since before anyone can remember.

Wow you dont half like to say shit a lot don't you . Fair points though . If the article had been a forum thread a lot of people might of accused the OP of trolling . Personally I think what she wrote was a fair comment on WoWs current state . I do agree with you WoW has got its specs just right . One thing that concerns me about the likes of StarWars TOR is will they be too high . I can play WoW on Ultra on my machine with no problem but RIFT on its lowest setting I was getting fps as low as 10 . (Age of Conan I can play well on medium to high settings) .Its a tough balance to get right I think some games over shoot the mark sadly and suffer for it . I think for any game to challenge it realistically needs to offer something with only slightly higher specs than WoW has now . ie if you can play WoW on its mid range specs the challenger should be playable smoothly on the low settings and still look good .
MMOs (WoW included) are a genre which is losing its appeal. It's not that people don't like the genre itself but the sub will go eventually (F2P anyone?). Companies DO NOT need the $15 dollars to support their servers. I would be much happier if they charged a price premium for the box so instead of charging you about 30-40 pounds for a new game, they should just charge maybe 50-60 but no fees ^^
Why would I want to pay a sub to play some borefest when soon I can play Guild Wars 2 or Diablo 3 by only purchasing the retail box? When D3 comes out ( the ultimate loot treadmill), I will not even think about playing an MMO (not that I am currenly playing MMOs :P)
Mission in life: Vanquish all MMORPG.com trolls - especially TESO, WOW and GW2 trolls.
I am predicting that Diablo 3 will canabalise a few million WoW subs within a few months of its launch. I am betting you we are talking F2P model for most of the content soon, backed up with cash-pay for premium content, in-game cash shop, and currency-based auction house with auctioners fee to Blizzard. They just gotta milk the WoW-bois for all they have.
I still have a wow sub but the only reason I pay for it each month is none of my friends can see past it still. I spend far more time in RiFT these days than wow, wow has had its day for sure.
WoW hasn't had any legit competition since it was released. Blizzard is like Wilt Chamberlain in 1960 scoring 100 points while playing against a bunch of 5'8 white guys in short shorts.
Only now are real contenders like GW2 and ToR coming along to knock WoW from the number 1 spot. WoW is a good game but it's ridiculously overrated. It just happens to be the only playable (assuming you're not a glutton for punishment or completely retarded) mmo available at the moment.
Already noticed it some months back when my entire server died. People cried for server merges on deaf ears.
It's about time Blizzard realises they need to do more than just release a raid every 5 months. The amount of content this game got in recent patches is laughable, and whatever does get added is just recycled content for the most part.
If WOW continues to decline at its current rate it will still be a successful MMO in 10 years .. that fact that its only started declining after 5-6 years in operation is mindboggling
There is only 1 thing that May kill WOW & thats World of Warcraft 2 , with maybe a slight chance of New FTP models able to make a dent .
MMOs (WoW included) are a genre which is losing its appeal. It's not that people don't like the genre itself but the sub will go eventually (F2P anyone?). I do not agree with your ideas. Market economics is never cost based. What a company need to recover cost does not factor into pricing. They can only price as high as the market can carry, and they will try to balance price with sales (higher price less sales) so that the profit is stable is likely maximised. Its a fine act of balance, and never once they worry about cost when setting a price. They look at cost when they consider closing down. If cost exceeds revenue consistently, its time to pull the plug. Blizz (for instance) may or may not need the $15 for this or that, but that has no bearing on whether Blizz would set a price.
Why do you want to pay a sub to play some borefest, you would not. But there are millions who see that the services from Blizz (for instance, again) is worth the money, and Blizz is happy providing the services which the customers happily consume. That is a fact, as this is a fully voluntary business deal where there are ample competition. Same applies to any other MMOs. Voluntarily transaction means both sides sees benefits to such a deal. Not held at a gunpoint.
As for B2P vs P2P, there are gamers that see MMOs and solo games as complementary. I have tons of solo RPGs, from Bethesda/Bioware stuffs to old games from GoG.com. I have maintained a few subs concurrently to MMOs. These are now my options when I sit down in front of my PC. I am paying for options, they are complementary to me, not competition.
I do not see the need to throw away my badminton rackets or tennis rackets simply because I like basketball most, nor do I need to stop upgrading my soccer equipment when I see a good product on the shelf.
Only problem is, like most game companies, you probably won't get to use your existing 'sub' account for f2p. You will need to start a new f2p account...
Actually that's not true. Lotro, AoC both allowed people to use their sub accounts when F2P launched. But i agree old greedy gus Blizzard probably won't follow the standard model God forbid.
Nadia Oxford get really paid for this???? Huh! I think we all know this and it is normal (or maybe not) that after 7 years people get bored with same game. Shame is only that there was not one serious game for competition. But don't worry Blizzard is long lasting company and they will invent something new. And cmon WOW have now over 10 mill subscribers and i think GW2,SWTOR and rest of top 5 Hype games will not sell so much copies of game together
Not a chance. Seriously, I still resub now and again, WoW is as busy as ever with no real signs of decline.
LIES!!!!!!
The game has half of its NA shards on low pop.
please stop lying to people. WoW gives players the illusion that its active because every lick of content is done through cross server queues that take people from 10-15+ server pools.
This is the person who is lying.
Right now, at almost 4am on the east cost, WoW has NINE realms at low population, all PvP realms. And there has *always* been low population PvP realms. So 9 out of 241 are low PoP at 4 AM on a weekday.
Now granted, we dont know what 'low pop' is eactly. I know 300 players is considered medium pop for Rift. But its certainly not true that the WoW NA realms are half low pop
No reign has lasted for ever ... but I'm sure Wow will stay with us for very long.
About so many f2p games hurting wow I do not agree.
That are cheap people which f2p model target, usually (not making assumptions, but know many) spending for smoking and drinking and rest 10x monthly fee of wow ... yet ... they would like to play for free. They love any free game, is the best for them. They love any hotel room that is cheap, even if they will have to sleep with rats. That is their kind hotel, best in the world. Long live rats.
In other cases parents simply does not understand and do not give their MC to pay monthly fee for their kids game. But again they have no problem spending money for some really stupid things. Again speaking from experience being 50 and with kids.

Of course not but maybe we will get some variety to the genre.
When it comes to AAA mmos we only get one flavor these days. that has to change.
When i mean variety i dont mean sandbox either... Look at GW2 its a themepark but its doing things differently.
We should have more games trying to be different it can all be done within the themepark sub-genre imo.
Playing: Nothing
Looking forward to: Nothing

WoW is a great MMO rather you like it or not. It's reliable, dependable, and has a huge player base, still after 6 years.
Do I hope another MMO can stand toe to toe with WoW and win in the future, yes I do.
