Ages of Conan was number 1 on that list at one time, put as much or as little faith in it as oyu want. You can alostry reading tea leaves, probably be about as accurate and maybe more so

I've noticed that people seem to be spaming the SW:TOR hype meter with the same cookie cutter "WOW" references.  At no point have I looked at this game and said "this reminds me of WOW".  I'm one of the biggest anti-wow people I know.  If this appeared like wow to me I'de avoid it like the plague, believe me!  I think that the hype meter is definitly being manipulated by the GW2 crowd.  It really found it upsetting.

It's a mainstream focused themepark game.  This site is friendly to neither mainstream or themepark games.  It shouldnt be much of a suprise.

Oh NOOOOSSS!  because lists of opinions of random strangers that have never played the game are so accurate!!!

In other news, The Sky is Falling!

Its entirely probable that this game's original hype level was rooted inthe irrational foundation of "'OMG STAR WARS"

If anything, the current score is a more realistic reflection of "not everyone will love it".

This site's hype list is about as useful at measuring hype as a... really bad measurment thing that isn't at all accurate...

There should be some type of weighted average cause not all games have the same amount of players also some cater to different audiences.  I would say the rating system though as it stands is pritty good I guess.

I changed my vote from when I first gave it a 10 to 7 though, maybee I changed everything.

It's militant GW2 fanboys who downhype everything with a 1 and then hype their precious game with a 10...i've not seen such rabid prerelease fanboyism for a game since Darkfall

I made the mistake of saying in my hype that the game didn't interest me in the slightest and I got some ANGRY messages from GW2 fans tellign me that I'm a huge faggot and don't know what i'm talking about...it was great.

Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

How does the score going down by 0.03 in the last month support your statement at all?

i have to agree with grachics but still they went that route so every one who has pc can play it and dont have to spend money to upgrade much.... again with you all wanting pretty grachics when you all going to realize grachics dont make a game its about game play and how it keeps me entertained. look at wow it looks cartonny and people still play it heck i still play nintendo and atari when it first came out and i still like it it looks terrible but then again not every one can afford super computers to play one game. so yeah thats why they went that route for grachics i played games for a very long time since i was 6 years old when atari came out so looks terrible but some times trash can be good.

Thats just plain wrong.  Sorry that happened.  Most of the GW2 fans Ive seen posting on the net seem to be pretty reasonable and decent.

But as for blaming Swtors hype level on GW2 fans, I think thats a little bit of a militant statement.  If thats really the case Id assume Swtor would at least be right behind GW2 on the hype meter.  Instead there's what?  Four other games in front of it?  I guess those guys are to blame too.   In fact, if it just wasnt for all those pesky fans of other mmorpgs coming out, Swtor would be at the top of the list wouldnt it !  Darn pesky fans.

Yup, the same standard BS line trotted out by people who haven't done any actual research on the game.  This is a multiplayer game in every aspect.

Don't really thing anyone is to blame, people are being people, GW2 fans will vote 10 on GW2 and low on swtor just the same as swtor fans will vote 10 on ToR and low on GW2.

The real numbers you have to look at to get a real understanding of how many people are hyped is how many votes each one gets.

    archage 581 votes - 8.31 hype

    planet side 2 164 votes 8.24 hype

The secret world 1004 votes 8.09 hype

    WildStar 51 votes 8.00 hype

Star wars the old republic 3,840 votes 7.98 hype

    Guild wars 2 2515 votes 8.74 hype

Notice the only one of the ones between SW;TOR and GW2 that gets even close to the number of hits is TSW and that is at 8.09 not much higher then ToR. the rest bearely break 500...if that while TOR and GW have it in the thousands of votes.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

And who are you to tell someone they can't enjoy a game because of graphics. If good graphics determine whetheror not someone can get into a game or not is theyir bussiness. Graphics DO make the game. Otherwise companies wouldn't be spending billions and billions of dollars a year trying to make them better.

There are plenty of leak sites out there... Mostly everything I have read has been positive.

That's funny. The beta leak site I've been following had one tester giving it a 6.5 score. Other testers were less than glowing in their assessments too.

I have pre-ordered the game myself but I'm being realistic in my expectations, which are that it's going to hold my attention for no more than a couple of months or so.

  • fadisfadis Member Posts: 469

6 or 6.5 sounds about right... I'm guessing.

  • starwarsnutstarwarsnut Member UncommonPosts: 230

keep in mind this game also gave lord of the rings online xpac rise of isengard a best xpac award when next to no one has seen it lol. Even if its dropping ill base the game after launch 3 months in the first month especially tells a lot.

That's funny, because the beat leak sites I've seen are filled w positive feedback.  In fact, the only negative "review" I've seen was from a SWG vet that was pissed the game wasn't SWG2.

I follow that site, and the score was given mainly due to bugs.

AoC and WAR were at the very top of the hype meter up to their release. Trust me, the hype meter means nothing.
