This award for pvp must have been given before SW:TOR released open world PvP, because they state in the last line: we can't wait to hear what BioWare has in store for world PVP.

So this won on the battlegrounds alone.

I"m not sure why people are so worried about awards, weren't they suppose to mean nothing, and throw away yet people are upset that one game won something another didn't..odd indeed.

Myself i just want a fun game, and SW;TOR seems to be that game for me.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

Personally, I think awards at this stage of completion are irrelevant.  Regardless of which game I want to play more (GW2), a game that won an award now might not have won that same award on a different day/week/month.  People need to stop letting MMORPG.com troll them.

MMORPG.COM has as much right as an user on the forum to publish their opinion peice. If users on this website are allowed to choose their favorite all the time why not mmorpg.com?

Needless to say this is my personal opinion.

if it is such a rush why even bother making PvE servers then?...enjoy your shared world where gankers shall delight and once they put a level cap on zones im sure you will complain. in GW2 i will enjoying my huge world that isnt an afterthought of devs and experience all other players who want nothing to do but kill me.

Because it is silly to force players to play on one kind of server? what is wrong with giving players more opions?

Why exactly is it "silly"?  Does every game have to have pvp servers because WoW did?  I don't get it.  ANet is not making a sequel to another franchise, they're making a sequel to their own successful game, if they don't want to change the way open world works, why should they change their vision?

Who said anything about GW2? did you even read my post. i was talking about SWTOR since the guy i quoted said 'why even bother making PVE servers if PVP is such a rush'. That is why i said it is silly to force players to play on one kind of server. Those who enjoy safe havens let them choose PVE servers and for those who enjoy constant PVP they have open PVP servers.

A population of those who want to do PVE and PVP is split anyways, otherwise it is forcing both sides into doing something they don't want to. So yes that is why SWTOR has PVP and PVE servers.

Good lord.  Why does it always come down to "My game is better than your game!"?  Why can't we just be excited that it looks like theres more than a few high quality MMOs coming in the near future?  You people are broken.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Interesting. Why would you even have to feel the need that the game you like is 'better than all others in everything it does'?

It sounds kind of... odd, that people should need to feel that way. I mean, shouldn't being able to play and enjoy the game you like when it launches be enough?

Seriously, I'll never get that e-peen kind of thinking, but it seems since WoW and maybe before the MMO scene is infested with it image

I play my game the way I want, I never ask for opinion from others.

I never tell them who I am, in which game, and what game I play.

That said, these forums are for us to watch for news and get information, about old games getting rejuvenated and new comers.  Inevitably, some people tend to use standards like WoW or EQ to illustrate their ideas.  That is where the comparison comes in, and a useful one.  That is the kind of writing I read and appreciate.

Because that would severely undermine the purpose of the PvE content in the game, dynamic events. The entire goal of that system is to bring players together so that they're working collaboratively by a shared goal, and want absolutely no possibility of griefing anywhere in the PvE content.

PvP servers would also differ from effectiveness of, say, if one person's questing as opposed to DE's, because with dynamic events, you're affecting an entire group of people who would generally want to avoid confrontation with a third party of players while trying to complete a DE and gain the reward from it, and the domino chain of cause & effect would cause even more havoc as certain merchants may not be available in capital cities due to the forced failure of a DE.

Also, the game doesn't have factions. In-fact, the entire theme is that the five races will come together to defeat a greater threat. The charr and humans have been at war for centuries, but are forced to settle their differences or else, be absolutely destroyed.

Generally, it just wouldn't work with the world Arena Net has in mind, and honestly, I don't understand what's wrong with doing WvWvW since it will still have the same thrills and excitement of being in an environment where not only one, but two groups of people can kill you.

Lol I like how I keep seeing posters mention that players will likely buy GW2 and one P2P game in a number of threads. Doesn't anyone realize the state our economy is in right now? If a B2P game is good enough for someone, I really doubt they would want to go the extra mile for a P2P one when they could be spending that money else where.

Oh and this might sound redudant and all, but WvWvW will never be shown at a con! It is just physically impossible, so stop trying to say "Oh well they haven't shown it yet." Cause it won't happen. xD

  • xmentyxmenty Member UncommonPosts: 719

Firefall or Tribes should have won the PVP awards. SWTOR gameplay sucks eventho their story /  voice over is good. Have you seen the SWTOR latest operation videos? How can a turret shoot point blank at the players and their hp never go down at all. WTF!!!

Pardon my English as it is not my 1st language :)

anyone who has any questionable thought about my GW2 needs to DIAF!!!!111

These kind of gaming awards ahouldnt exist to be 'evenhanded'... they should exist to recognise the best in each category. If each category if dominated by the same game then so be it, it's just the better game.

'evenhanded' exists for the politically correct crowd and gaming sites trying not to too offend Devs.

For me it's not even about money, it's about time. My schedule dosent allow for more then one MMORPG (and nor would I want it to), so I have to choose which one gets played. For me, for the long term, SWtoR and GW2 are definitely in competition. I only have the time to play one.

GW2 would be winning that right now even if it was a sub game tbh. The 'B2P' thing is so far down the listof why I choose a game.

Lol, so clever of mmorpg to put gw2 and tor together on the same page to guarantee responses ^^

PvP servers have little to do with WoW, they were already around in EQ. Just saying.

For me, it's easy to combine. I managed to play GW or LotrO next to P2P MMO's, so I foresee it being possible with GW2 and SWTOR too. Some cry continuously for innovation, for me, variation is the key and a good thing, it's nice when I'm not stuck to playing just 1 MMO but if I can vary between different MMO's and gameplay when I'm in the mood.

It is way too easy to manage two MMOS in one month time. I have done it before when GW came out and yes even i have a job and family to take care of.

Yeah, I get that some folks like to spread themselves about a bit more then I do when it comes to MMORPGs, but between RL commitments, other interests, and simply not wanting to spend all my spare time in an online environment with it's attached culture I intentionally limit my time in them to one at a time. TBH, even if I wanted to spend more time in them I find it hard to get inspired by more them one at a time... I tend to invest heavily in the ones I play in terms of character and community rather then flit about between muliple games. Not to mention I enjoy static groups with RL friends and we usually have an agreed MMORPG that we share.

Each to their own way though.

I am just saying that it's never about the money to me and even if GW2 had a sub I would still prefer it based solely on what it's offering. £2.50 a week dosent even start to inform my choice about what game to spend my time in.

I cannot wait to get into this game, it feels like liver failure.  I want this game sooooo much.

Anyways, I really hope they expand a lot into the PvP aspect of the game, and broaden what they do, because if they don't the game may not maintain being popular for too long.  Same thing that League of Legends forsaw, and they created Dominion to help broaden thier replayability.

Not a single mention about Firefall? I think that TERA was not even at PAX but only did a presentation at an office in Seattle. I don't know what to say... Firefall might not be a complete MMO but they do have MMO elements that many people here will love, I think it's unfair not to mention them considering that they were the greatest attraction at PAX.

At least keep us informed about the game, don't forget it as you've done here. I was not expecting this considering that there's even a forum in MMORPG.com about the game!
