That video has the worst AI I have ever seen, and that is before we go into all the bugs.
Can you tell me why you think that combat and AI is better than all other games out there? You must think so since you refused to play any other game for 2 years but now are in love with this game. What mechanics made you subscribe? What was wrong with all the other games that is right in MO?
I heart when people post a video and say it is the awesomesauce, when there is so many bugs in the video lol. I love how time after time a risar would run away to its start position and let you beat it to death without fighting back.
Wait maybe that is why they think it is awesome they can kill mobs without dying lolz.
That video has the worst AI I have ever seen, and that is before we go into all the bugs.

for us this is not fun, and every mmorpg came out (rift, war...) in these days are like in this video.
MO is unique, only first person, no loading zones, no sitances, sandbox with a realistic combat (or try to be realistic). Yes it has bugs an Ai is bad, but it's fun.
If you can find me another mmorpg with these features every MO player left wll leave and go in this mmorpg. But... there isn't so we play MO :-P
I didn't realise WoW was ALL other games. Is it the only game in the world? This is news to me, could you prove that please?

The MMO I play is nothing like that video. But of course I must be imagining it, as you claim ALL games are WoW clones.
MO is unique, only first person, no loading zones, no sitances, sandbox with a realistic combat (or try to be realistic). Yes it has bugs an Ai is bad, but it's fun.
The only unique part is forced first person view, a feature that was on no ones "must have" list ... ever. If you play the game purely for that reason, then you may be right in saying it is your only option.
However the rest of your list is available in plenty of other games, except it actually works properly. But if you get your fun from whacking on a NPC that has zero chance of killing you due to lack of AI, be my guest.
Oh and MO has loading zones, they are called nodes and they have never worked properly.
If you can find me another mmorpg with these features every MO player left wll leave and go in this mmorpg. But... there isn't so we play MO :-P
A UO free shard. Has everything you want (apart from first person of course) and it works. It is also free, as a few people in their spare time can do a better job than SV, who take money every month from you for the honour of playing their completely broken (your own admission) snorefest.

Yes, UO is cool but... it's old, you can play UO for 4 years, 5-6-7-8 but it's going to be bored now. And the graphic is a bit outdated :-P
MO don't have loading zones, for loading zone I intend (Loading in progress screen). Nodes are straming, nothing to do with loading zone.
Please, can you say me the name of the mmorpg with realistic (or try to be realistic) melee combat?
Hello David, I like your opinion about the game. I used to play mortal also for a short amount of time.
I know exactly what you mean why its fun, its just something different. Allthough the game is pretty buggy and has a pretty bad company developing it imo.
But yea like your vid showed, your having fun with your friends and your trying things out so you might inspire some people trying the game out.
I liked your vid, allthough the game is far from beeing buggfree its just a fun game with an unique tough.
MO is a lot buggy, perhaps is the only MMORPG that can give me fun.
I played a lot of mmorpgs (I tried every P2P mmorpg) but this is unique. If I didn't like MO I would left in no time like in every other mmorpg I tried.
Yes, UO is cool but... it's old, you can play UO for 4 years, 5-6-7-8 but it's going to be bored now. And the graphic is a bit outdated :-P
What has age got to do with it? It doesn't mean the game features you listed do not work in UO, as is the case with MO. You said you'd leave MO instantly if I found you a game with the same features, and I just did.
We are talking about gameplay here, not graphics. You didn't mention graphics at all, and if that is your primary concern you should be playing any number of Korean MMO's that have amazing graphics.
If what are really saying is you want something new and shiny to play with and the features are irrelavent, why didn't you say that?
Your reply makes no sense in the context of this discussion.
MO don't have loading zones, for loading zone I intend (Loading in progress screen). Nodes are straming, nothing to do with loading zone.
Crossing nodes pauses the game for anything from a few seconds to a few minutes in extreme cases, just because it doesn't say "Loading please wait" does not make it seamless. That hitching is caused by the next node being loaded. You can also be invisible on the other side of a node from a player despite being only feet away from them, which in a PvP game is unforgivable.
Please, can you say me the name of the mmorpg with realistic (or try to be realistic) melee combat?
I can certainly say MO isn't one. Their combat has never worked properly, and all the long time PvP'ers agree on that. They also say there is very little skill involved in MO combat, and your video shows that clearly.
There will NEVER be realistic combat in an MMO this side of VR. If you have ever been in actual combat that much is obvious, so don't pretend spamming left click is "realistic" in any way shape or form.
EDIT : You claim once again that MO is unique. Apart from forced first person, please tell me what the unique features are.

I am waiting to hear about these unique features as well.

sorry but it seems that you can't understand.
Mo is unique yes, unique crafting system, unique cooking and alchemy system (you can cook everything without recipe, from a cake to a head), unique combat system (maybe for you it isn't fun and realistic, but IMHO is more fun the combat in MO than in oblivion (ofc, mount and blade is the best). And others. This make me want to play only MO (I'm looking for a better game when it comes out (IMHO))
and what I was trying to say you. I played UO for 7 years, it was fun but stop please, I want to play something else and here it comes MO.

Ah shit he done sold me there I am going to start playing again.
You mean the unique crafting cooking where the better food is the stuff not cooked?
Or the alchemy system where the less refiened less expensive mats are better?
Or the armor/weapon crafting system where out of the millions of combinations only a handful are viable?
This is Tizio's guild btw. We all know Tizio plays in a bubble where there are no bugs in the MO universe. I remember him saying in threads there was no bugs in a patch when there were tons.

Ah but I do. Sorry you cannot understand my understanding.
unique crafting system,
A third rate ripoff of SWG crafting.
unique cooking and alchemy system (you can cook everything without recipe, from a cake to a head),
But it serves zero purpose to do so as basic food is better for eg. It is also a ripoff of SWG.
unique combat system (maybe for you it isn't fun and realistic, but IMHO is more fun the combat in MO than in oblivion
It is unique in that it doesn't work I grant you that. And realistic is not subjective, it simply isn't realistic. If you have fun though, good for you. Twitch combat is also not a new thing in MMO's, see Planetside for eg or any number of deathmatch games.
This make me want to play only MO (I'm looking for a better game when it comes out (IMHO))
I already told you a game that has the features you want, in a working form. Why the delay in switching games?
and what I was trying to say you. I played UO for 7 years, it was fun but stop please, I want to play something else and here it comes MO.
So you stop playing a working game, that can be played for free, that has more features to play a mostly broken game (again, your admission) that has less features. So in reality you appear to be playing MO for the new car smell, not for any game features or content.
Why didn't you just say so instead of claiming these mythical unique features?
Im pretty sure thats an old video and does not represent the current state of the game. However heres al ist of features i think noteworthy/unique to mo.....
.multiple hitboxes on character models, head lowerbody arms torso (most games have 1 some have 2 mo has 5)
. first person perspective
.10 body locations to equip armor each affecting the protection of the given hitbox area.
.twitch based melee combat no charge attacks or tab target (2 games currently darkfall and mo and mo does melee better)
. Unique mount system were every monut is unique looking with differing height speed strength health visual appearance (albiet buggy)
.day night cycle were the nightime is actually dark (truth is it can be adjusted outside of game to see at night)
.directional blocking, block a left swing by blocking left, block a right swing by blocking right.
.easily over 1000 skills possibly 1000s
.thievery (only uo previously had this)
.full nudity
. intricate crafting system over 1.something million weapon combinations (and yes new weapons are being discovered regularly) for example the duel wield swords many mgiht have seen aq recently using.
. dying and going to the etherworld as a ghost (only uo previously had this)
. a gathering system reminicent of Oblivion
.complex fishing system capable of rivaling a dedicated fishing game. select line, hook, rod, bait and depth along with location. wait for nibbles, tug line to atract fish and reel in to catch fish when you have a bite. use anything you like as bait even a fish you caught recently or a silver coin
.butchery proffesion hunters kill animals and must find someone to butcher them in order to obtain usable resource (bone, jaw, teeth, leather, scales meat etc
.full loot full pvp a sandbox with these as some of its features (not many full loot full pvp mmos out there)
.archery were you must actually fire at the target with your aim over the target, aim at the head to hit the head aim at legs etc, mounted archery also (only mo and darkfall have archery like this, whilst darkfall edges mo in this regard in most peoples opinions mo arcvhery is still good)
.ore msut be extracted and processed, discover the best exraction methods and recipes to obtain minerals and metals previously unatainable or discover more efficient ways of doing something.
.no ingame map jsut a compass
.weight gain and weight loss, eat fatty foods and you will gain wait, dont eat or just drink water and you will loose weight. Weight affects your atributes and offers + and - points to them depending on your weight for example at fit you have no alterations, at lean you are -5 str +5dex and at stout you are -5 dex +5con +5str.
. Eat jsut about anything you like, however if it sounds/looks disgusting chances are its gonig to make you sick. eat to regain your reserves, eating in mo is actually a day to day activity and not jsut fluff like msot games. (and no prepared raw food isnt the best food you can make its simply easy and good that is why its used)
mo has similarites with both darkfall and uo in terms of its features and planned features but mo also brings alot of new things to the table not seen in previous mmos mo is certainly not a clone. i have palyed mo since beta and so far it has held my attention longer than any previous mmo including uo and i played uo during TSA expansion release back on the old 56k with a pay per minute plan (200.00 phonebill in 1 month ouch) Also MO is the closest comparison to oblivion when it comes to elderscrolls compared to an MMO. That certainly doesnt mean it is jsut like it or even that close to it but it is the closest mmo.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
Im pretty sure thats an old video and does not represent the current state of the game. However heres al ist of features i think noteworthy/unique to mo.....
Does it count if they are bugged or not working as intended??
.multiple hitboxes on character models, head lowerbody arms torso (most games have 1 some have 2 mo has 5)
And you know these hitboxes are buggy and even different when you are on a mount. They are always buggy and people have even suggested to not have so many hitboxes.
. first person perspective
DF has first person
.10 body locations to equip armor each affecting the protection of the given hitbox area.
There are multiple games that have this many locations and more.
.twitch based melee combat no charge attacks or tab target (2 games currently darkfall and mo and mo does melee better)
That is debatable and Earthrise has twitch based and so does Xyson and so did planetside.
. Unique mount system were every monut is unique looking with differing height speed strength health visual appearance (albiet buggy)
Yup verry buggy.
.day night cycle were the nightime is actually dark (truth is it can be adjusted outside of game to see at night)
Yeah and everyone does adjust the gamma so what is the point?
.directional blocking, block a left swing by blocking left, block a right swing by blocking right.
Buggy and with the prediction does not work as intended.
.easily over 1000 skills possibly 1000s
Are you really going to count all the secondary lores in the game as skills to be lauded over?
.thievery (only uo previously had this)
WRONG!! Shadowbane had thiever and both games did it much better.
.full nudity
lol you got me there. Major feature.
. intricate crafting system over 1.something million weapon combinations (and yes new weapons are being discovered regularly) for example the duel wield swords many mgiht have seen aq recently using.
Man we all know that people use the same shit.
. dying and going to the etherworld as a ghost (only uo previously had this)
Yes you are right. But arent we asking for unique features??
. a gathering system reminicent of Oblivion
Ehh Xsyon has a pretty decent gathering system so does fallout.
.complex fishing system capable of rivaling a dedicated fishing game. select line, hook, rod, bait and depth along with location. wait for nibbles, tug line to atract fish and reel in to catch fish when you have a bite. use anything you like as bait even a fish you caught recently or a silver coin
Has the second half of fishing been put in yet?? When I had my EPIC conversation with Henrik he said the second half would make it like UO? That was over half a year ago.. And fishing is very unrewarding. Hell I got to 100 fishing without catching a fish in 10 mins.
.butchery proffesion hunters kill animals and must find someone to butcher them in order to obtain usable resource (bone, jaw, teeth, leather, scales meat etc
There are many games where you skin animals to get the resources
.full loot full pvp a sandbox with these as some of its features (not many full loot full pvp mmos out there)
UO, DF,Xsyon,Shadowbane
.archery were you must actually fire at the target with your aim over the target, aim at the head to hit the head aim at legs etc, mounted archery also (only mo and darkfall have archery like this, whilst darkfall edges mo in this regard in most peoples opinions mo arcvhery is still good)
MO's archery does not even have physics... You do not have to lead your target. All you need to do is have the right arc I found aiming very easy as long ass you practice 10 mins with your bow to get the right arc you will hit everything. You are right DF's archery is better you actually have to lead your target.
.ore msut be extracted and processed, discover the best exraction methods and recipes to obtain minerals and metals previously unatainable or discover more efficient ways of doing something.
SWG had a very good system along the same lines.
.no ingame map jsut a compass
EQ did it first.
.weight gain and weight loss, eat fatty foods and you will gain wait, dont eat or just drink water and you will loose weight. Weight affects your atributes and offers + and - points to them depending on your weight for example at fit you have no alterations, at lean you are -5 str +5dex and at stout you are -5 dex +5con +5str.
There are many games where you eat food and get bonuses. I do not know about the weight gain or loss.
. Eat jsut about anything you like, however if it sounds/looks disgusting chances are its gonig to make you sick. eat to regain your reserves, eating in mo is actually a day to day activity and not jsut fluff like msot games
And eating the most basic of foods is the best thing right now.
Didn't Betel ask for a list of unique things??
u·nique [ yoo n?k ]
only one: being the only one of a kind
special: different from others in a way that makes somebody or something special and worthy of note
limited to somebody or something: limited to a particular person or thing
Im pretty sure thats an old video and does not represent the current state of the game.
That is your opinion, you have presented no proof. The video was posted a few days ago so your claim is without merit.
multiple hitboxes on character models, head lowerbody arms torso (most games have 1 some have 2 mo has 5)
I believe Huxley has multiple hit boxes, Planetside did, and so do any number of arena type games - many of which have more concurrent players on one server than MO does.
Of course MO's hitboxes don't actually work properly (surprise!), try testing it on a MOB. Can shoot a wisent in the head and it counts as a miss.
Because large numbers of players have been crying out for forced first person perspective for years have they? Can you find me some references for that please. I already said you can have this one, but that is only because no one else wants it.
.10 body locations to equip armor each affecting the protection of the given hitbox area.
See above, multiple hit locations and armour to cover it are not unique to MO.
.twitch based melee combat no charge attacks or tab target (2 games currently darkfall and mo and mo does melee better)
There are many twitch based games, UO and WoW to name just two. And to claim MO has the best twitch melee combat is just lol. Why don't you ask your own guild what they think of combat in MO just now? The people I used to play with/against from your guild in the old days say it is even worse than it used to be.
. Unique mount system were every monut is unique looking with differing height speed strength health visual appearance (albiet buggy)
Buggy to point of uselessness. Tried riding a mount uphill recently? Yeah, you can't as SV are so incompetant.. A feature that is completely broken is not something you should be using to advertise your game. Anyway, chocobo breeding, ever heard of that?
.day night cycle were the nightime is actually dark (truth is it can be adjusted outside of game to see at night)
UO had a day night cycle 14 years ago, even WOW has one. If you think that is unique I just don't know what to say, are you desperate for bullet points? Plus of course it is never dark on a PvP'ers screen in MO as everyone gamma hacks.
.directional blocking, block a left swing by blocking left, block a right swing by blocking right.
Can do that in the FPS style games mentioned earlier.
.easily over 1000 skills possibly 1000s
Be honest, how many of those skills are purely material/plant/whatever lore skills and not actual abilities. MO does have many skills though, and almost all of them are bugged.
This is also not unique, just a feature.
.thievery (only uo previously had this)
So you admit it's not unique. Why the hell are you posting all these non unique things in a list of supposed unique features? Was the list looking a little small?
.full nudity
Yeah cos no Korean or Japanese game ever has boobies everywhere lol, try Pangaea for eg.
. intricate crafting system over 1.something million weapon combinations (and yes new weapons are being discovered regularly) for example the duel wield swords many mgiht have seen aq recently using.
The system is not unique (this is meant to be a list of unique things remember?) and is a rip off of SWG, which did it FAR better. Those millions of combo's are of course useless in the main and people use the same few weapons made of the same few materials. The only reason new weapons claim FOTM after patches is because SV always breaks something in it's patches.
. dying and going to the etherworld as a ghost (only uo previously had this)
Again you admit it is not unique so why is it in this list?
. a gathering system reminicent of Oblivion
Or WoW come to that.
.complex fishing system capable of rivaling a dedicated fishing game. select line, hook, rod, bait and depth along with location. wait for nibbles, tug line to atract fish and reel in to catch fish when you have a bite. use anything you like as bait even a fish you caught recently or a silver coin
UO has fishing, with actual interesting results such as treasure maps rather than pulling up fish that are useless (basic raw food is better). So again not unique and in fact far worse than UO.
.butchery proffesion hunters kill animals and must find someone to butcher them in order to obtain usable resource (bone, jaw, teeth, leather, scales meat etc
Many games have crafter/fighter interdepencies where the fighters get raw materials to be processed by crafters, and the players enjoy them. Tell me, how do MO players currently view butchery? Or do you want me to post the many links where people agree it is killing the game?
.full loot full pvp a sandbox with these as some of its features (not many full loot full pvp mmos out there)
So it is not unique to MO then. Why do you keep putting these things in this list? I guess it was REALLY short beforehand.
.archery were you must actually fire at the target with your aim over the target, aim at the head to hit the head aim at legs etc, mounted archery also (only mo and darkfall have archery like this, whilst darkfall edges mo in this regard in most peoples opinions mo arcvhery is still good)
For god's sake, and again a feature that you admit yourself that is not unique. Your list is turning into complete nonsense.
.ore msut be extracted and processed, discover the best exraction methods and recipes to obtain minerals and metals previously unatainable or discover more efficient ways of doing something.
Plenty of games you aquire a basic resource and refine it, even WOW. There is also nothing to discover, it was all discovered in beta or days after being patched in.
.no ingame map jsut a compass
Meridian 59 didn't have a mini-map either. Sure there are many others.
So, almost all of your list (bar forced first person) is not unique. You even say yourself that your points are not unique. So why did you post them?
Just a small snippet as I cba to write up the whole list, I can't believe you're listing the etherworld as an unique feature when it just happens to be the single most annoying thing I ever found in WoW.
fps style games arent usually mmos, its unique to the genre as in not seen in an mmo before. Also you quoted my post but snippeted imortant info out of it, "noteworthy/unique " was what i listed and unique is unique to the mmorpg genre, plaentside is not an mmorpg, it only has 2 hitboxes also. MO is unique it has many more than the norm of 1 or 2. regardless of how you feel about each of those things i have listed they are features that are worth mentioning and many are unique.
i dont recal uos nightime actually being dark though, so yea it is unique, its unique in that they take a risk with it and it has a direct impact on the palying experience unlike uo wow darkfalls nightime.
regardless of if every single thing i posted is unique, mo with its above features combinedmakes a unique gaming experience far removed from the usual wow,tor,eq,eq2,war,sto,ao,aoc,tera,rift themepark style. also it isnt particualarly similar in gameplay to either uo, darkfall eve, swg, dawntide. its a unqiue experience you cannot get from any other mmo, unlike th wow experience aion is exactly like wow perpetuum just like eve etc
also i never played wow, it didnt appeal to me i much prefered uo and swg since i have had such a bad experience with ao, aoc, eq2. the themepark genre i just dont enjoy i guess, but i understand people like those sort of games so i just leave them to it.
and plaease show me an exciting mmorpg pve video.
there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.
OP, I'm glad you found a game you like. I appreciate why you like it. You attached a video which shows the gameplay as it is (or was, I don't know).
I played for a couple of weeks from release, but found it too buggy at that time with a lot of server downtime, so that it was basically impossible for me to have satisfactory gaming sessions.
How is server stability now? That was the biggest issue for me at the time.
Is it possible for new players to come back and get started up on their own? I'm asking this not because I'm anti-social, but I don't want to have to join a guild straightaway. I want to take my time, get my bearings in the game, make some mistakes, probably reroll a few times, and get to know who is playing and what the guilds are like before attempting to join one.
Is it a gankfest on new toons?
After a while, if I stick with the game, it would be good to get into a guild. Is it pretty easy to find one that is open to new players?
And like I said, whether I ever come back and try MO again or not, I'm glad you enjoy it. As long as people don't misrepresent the game, I can't see what's wrong with trying to let other people know about it. There is a free trial as well.
server stability is really good now, usually the server is restarted for maintenance a couple of times a day but its roughly a 10min downtime each time, considering msot have 1 hour downtime per day maintenance its not to bad. The server does on occassion crash but its rather a rare occurance. with a free trial you can easily find out for yourself.
i played mo solo for 6 mnoths, i certainly wouldnt recommend it since its alot harder but still a rewarding experience, itsj ust that guild paly makes it so much easier and fun. There are plenty of recently created guilds in mo that are looking to fill there ranks. provided you use the /h channel during your trial and irc/forums after that you wont have a problem really playing solo.
theres also a guild dedicated to training new players in mo and also a guild setup for solo palyers to have fun on occassion iwth other solo palyers (strange iknow) vagabond i believe its called.

Look forward to your replies.
I heart when people post a video and say it is the awesomesauce, when there is so many bugs in the video lol. I love how time after time a risar would run away to its start position and let you beat it to death without fighting back.
Wait maybe that is why they think it is awesome they can kill mobs without dying lolz.

A awful video...
He who keeps his cool best wins.
what's wrong with all the other games?
Just a video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pceMK9Fxz3U
for us this is not fun, and every mmorpg came out (rift, war...) in these days are like in this video.
Keep making these kind of vids!
Best of luck!
Yes, this is what I mean.
MO is a lot buggy, perhaps is the only MMORPG that can give me fun.
I played a lot of mmorpgs (I tried every P2P mmorpg) but this is unique. If I didn't like MO I would left in no time like in every other mmorpg I tried.
Longest beta ever...
My God, that looks awful. Can the bugs be any more apparent?

OK, you got me there. Something about eating the raw head and carcass of your enemies does indeed appeal.
We donn need no koooking dat way.
Its about me
This is Tizio's guild btw. We all know Tizio plays in a bubble where there are no bugs in the MO universe. I remember him saying in threads there was no bugs in a patch when there were tons.

I was sarcastic about no bugs >_>

Didn't Betel ask for a list of unique things??
u·nique [ yoo n?k ]
only one: being the only one of a kind
special: different from others in a way that makes somebody or something special and worthy of note
limited to somebody or something: limited to a particular person or thing

OP, I'm glad you found a game you like. I appreciate why you like it. You attached a video which shows the gameplay as it is (or was, I don't know).
