Edited my normal spammy non-sense where i go on and on for no reason other than to read my own text!
I need Rift to fill in the gaps of other major video game releases The gap between Rage and Skyrim and Skyrim and Mass Effect 3. If 1.5 & 1.6 can do that ill stay subbed.
I use mmorpgs as my fillers in between releases of other games in other gaming genres.
Rift held me through the summer drought.
ill need Rift again to fill in the gap between Dead Island and Rage releases (three weeks).
Then between Batman and Skyrim (another three weeks) and again from skyrim to Mass Effect 3 (3 months)
I hope 1.5 and 1.6 could do that.
If Trion becomes known as the dev who keeps dropping content at very fast speeds that would definitely be something. 6 months in and if you list out the the stuff added it is just crazy. Patch notes alone come out to like 40-50 pages if not more.
When I say concept btw I mean RvR, alternate advancement, x-server LFG, addons, single/duo instances. This is stuff that changes how you play the game and no matter what content is released stays for years. Like if I get that +2% mount speed from one of the tree's I will have that 2 years from now.
MMORPG's now-a-days need more concept like a transmogrifier in WoW will be there years from now while this deathwing raid will be forgotten about.
What I see added with this isn't enough to keep me right now. I'll wait until I see it but as it stands at the moment, Veteran rewards don't mean much especially when talking terms of subs.
I've seen vids of the solo dungeons and they look short plus I don't play a mmo to dungeon crawl by myself. I play Torchlight and I'll be getting Diablo 3 for that. I'll check out the master mode thingy but if it's simply like what they do with regular dungeons (take the same old dungeon and add a few bosses again with slightly harder difficulty) and Experts.. nah. I've already seen these dungeons too much grinding T2/T3 gear.
Sorry but I can't buy a hype threadpost like this, even if a (!) is added to the title. Hype is what gets false expectations up and we've all had enough of that by now so no need to feed that monster anymore.
These patches are pretty close to being on par with WoWs patches in terms of they never seem to add anything big...
you forgot to add that Trion put them out every few months, with WoW its at least double that.
You guys forgot to mention that World of Warcraft's patchs actually removed things from the game, and turning it into the simplified/dubbed down version it is now. I hope Trion does not start going down that route.

They already did that by removing expert dailies, nerfing difficulty into the ground and basically making half of our level 50 dungeon content not worth doing for anyone in decent t2 dungeon gear. Thankfully they're starting to fix what they broke.

I really hate it when developers do this... I'm starting to think MMO's are not as good as they used to be. Or maybe it's just that I'm getting older now.. I don't know, but the games just seem so linear and simplified now. I think the only MMO that I found to be remotly interesting in the last few years was Xsyon Earth 2012: Prelude Because it was a sandbox'ish type game were you could build things from scratch, but I just couldnt play it because there were so many problems and things that were not added yet.. I don't know maybe I should just stop playing MMORPG's alltogether and focus on my clothing design job, because all these new mmo's all seem like the same thing redone over and over again. I've wasted hundreds if not thousands of dollars on these games over the last 7 years. Maybe it's time for me to just play games like fallout, or single players rpgs that dont require a monthly fee. I'm actually playing Dead Island right now with my husband and I am finding that more fun then some of the MMO's I've played. Weird huh?

Master modes are basically Trions answer to an issue you see in WoW all the time. They release a new heroic with gear better then everything previous, so all that content is now pointless to do.
This also addresses two other issues. People who hate raiding, but like 5 mans now get raid gear that is not just given to them and it helps progression guilds gear new people ALOTTTTTTTTTT faster.

There are definitely times that I prefer to play single player RPGs. I really enjoyed Mass Effect and Dragon Age Origins for example. However, I also enjoy the shared experiences that I get playing MMOs. I am enjoying pvping / instancing with friends / family in AoC and Rift atm as well..

My sub is up in October, first week.
