1. Wow is 8+ years old and they are losing subs since the game looks absolutely horrid compared to newer games and it's just the same old crap over again and ...
2. SWTOR is going to offer everything your typical MMO already has on top of being the first actual mmo (RPG) I can think of. I've never played, nor known anyone who has played an MMO that has actually read any of the quests lol. Most MMO's consist of pick up all quests from nearby NPC with ! over his head, hold mommy's hand and skip to giant flashing waypoint, kill x amount of creatures or collect x amount of items, turn in quest, rinse repeat.
People leave WoW every day and join newer games to "grind BG & Raids again" like you for some reason stated that nobody would ever do such a thing. Overall, it's Star Wars...it's guaranteed to profit, even if it starts to slowly collapse over time. I think this one will far outlast SWG as it has a lot of potential.
It's a very, very safe MMO design. Nothing about it breaks the mold, or dares to venture outside the box. If you love WOW but wish it was Star Wars flavored and talked more at you*, SWTOR is your game.
* Fully-voiced isn't new, Wizards 101 is fully voiced, most MMOs have some kind of voiced parts. Bioware just wanted to blow most of it's budget on voice actors.
I wonder if that much ignorance, with that much certainty, actually has a smell to it?
Like you can just "sense" it about a person?
Can we please stop spreading the same misinformation and lies around all of the threads on this web site please?
How was what he said misinformation or a lie? The SWTOR developers themselves have clearly stated that this is WOW in space, and Wizards 101 is fully voiced
I guess the only part that might be questionable is about the % of the budget spent on voice actors, but thats something nobody except bioware itself can confirm or deny
So around 2005, right at the peak of the WOW success story, the devs at bioware sat around and said 'You know what - if we make WOW in space with a few extra pieces from earlier MMO's that blizzard can't really include in WOW because of the fantasy setting, but we can, it will be a smash hit. I mean just look at the Star Wars franchise, there's and easy half mill box sales and 6 month subs before we even release the game'

Wizards 101 is fully voiced? By who? Bring your kids in to work day at the office over there? LOL that game looks like it has the budget of some 90 year old crack head living in the gutter.
What you're missing is our viewpoint on what makes a game not only fun, but gives it longevity. We don't eat through content like there is no tomorrow. Many of us don't play 12 hours a day. Their target audience enjoys things other than just the story, so even if we do reach max before the next expansion, there are plenty of other things to do in the meantime. We tend to be much more social than hardcores / raiders, so we spend a lot of time chatting, roleplaying, crafting and so forth that slows down progression even more. This game offers not only several game's worth of story arcs, but all of the trimmings that can be found in any other MMOs, some of which seem to have no problems keeping the subs of non-raiders / non-hardcores.
The old fallacy that only hardcores are loyal gamers has not only been debunked, but embraced by everyone but the hardcores themselves. This game has a ton to offer, the problem for people like you seems to stem from their lack of focus on hardcore needs and their pinpoint focus on casual gamers.
I think you're on to something here. I remember how much fun it was leveling my first WoW character. But still, there was a tension within our guild. Many of the 80s wanted us to power level so we could raid with them. I and a few others wanted to enjoy the leveling process, to explore, to craft, etc. I did the power grind with my first alt, and it was mind numbingly oppressive. I'm not paying a monthly fee to feel like I'm at work.
The point here being that there is this expectation, especially among hardcore players, that end-game content is where all the magic is, where the real fun begins. That attitude makes everything you do prior to the level cap a chore. For me the content is whatever I'm doing at the moment, regardless of level. That is the game. That is where the fun happens. When I leveled my next alt, I took my time and enjoyed what I was doing at the time instead of constantly thinking End Game! End Game! Must.... Get... To.... End g a ... zzzzzzzz

One for you and for the person you quoted very well spoken.

I'll add my +1 to this alos. Well said, well said indeed.
"If half of what you tell me is a lie, how can I believe any of it?"
I would agree with this., Its why I cringe a little when i see guilds advertising as being 'hardcore' for this and other new games, they are missing the point and more than stuck in a 'got to get first kill' rut.
Edit I should add this is one of the reasons why i am not attracticed to this game, it is aiming for the wow crowd, and a chunk of that crowd has a had a long time sunk intro addictive hardcore patterns, and will be headfing over. It is hard not to see that in a years time there will be websites showing first kills, dps charts etc, it will be in demand eventually. The will have an influence on how the game developes - especially once you get to end-game.

Um, NO, they have not. What they said was that it would be stupid for any MMORPG developer to ignore the impact that WoW had on the MMORPG industry.
That does NOT mean that SWTOR = WoW, no matter how you might like to spin it.

OP trolling? You need to consider the fact that
