I bought Xyson about 3 weeks ago, and at first i found it refreshing....then it just became boring, the crafting is a pretty big grind and the gathering is boring obviously..but lack of resources around decent areas causes that aspect of the game to be annoying. Graphics are decent enough for a game of this type, i think the one thing that i enjoyed the most was terraforming but it has more limitations than i would of thought before playing.
Xyson PVP is just horrible, they are redesigning it but idk how it can get much better, Xyson PVE is just not in game sure you can hunt a cple of wildlife mobs but its just not common and not really fun tbh.
At this point Xyson is an alpha test at best, very little too do and it requires a lot of tlc, personally after playing hard for 2 weeks i just stopped and will only be logging into the account page to cancel my sub next week.
Game has potential but atm it is 100% not worth a monthly sub.
i think this conversation reminds me of two people arguing at the morgue whether a corpse was little or too much dead...

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
Ive been there since day 1 the doors opened to pay beta. There has been some things added but for the most part its not very impressive. I could list them but I am feeling lazy today.
In May 2010 there was nothing in game only terraforming and logging. It was full of bugs and all of the skills were turned off.
Now we have tailoring, leathercraft, basketweaving, architect, masonry, bonecraft, weaponcraft, toolcraft, woodcraft, hunting, foraging, fishing, scavenging, combat skills and probably others I can't remember now lol.
Gekko has the full list here. If we went by the claims of the developers back then (not even going to touch the 80% thing), nothing new has really been added or updated since everything on the Features page was ready for the Prelude release.
The question was that what has changed in the game since last year, and not about the feature page.
Gekko's post answers exactly that, or are you saying he is incorrect?
Gekko's post doesn't answer it at all. That post is about what was promised and what has been implemented from those promises. He doesn't say a word about what was in game a year ago. Almost nothing from the feature page was in game last May, a lot of them are in now.
Again, the question was how is the game now compared to it's state a year ago, not how is the game compared to the feature page. The game improved a LOT compared to how it was a year ago.
You said that in May 2010, nothing was in game. You said terraforming and logging were in and all skills were turned off. Gekko's post goes through the entire feature list and shows what has been implemented and changed since then. How does that not answer the question of what has changed since May 2010, Sinella?
You are so busy making excuses for the game that you don't even realize when someone is agreeing with you.
I'm not making excuses, I'm just posting some facts. But it's not clear what do you mean...who is agreeing with me ? You ? Or Gekko ? If you think Gekko's post proves how much has been implemented during the last year then why are you arguing ?
Use full names please two of use have names with Gekko in them.
Let me just say, getting a refund a week before their (was it februrary or march?) launch was possibly one of the best calls ive made in gaming, of couse it nullifies one of the worst calls, which was jumping in blindly to Xyson.
I hear the game has all the same issues it did way back then? They removed more features? Shouldnt features get added at this point?
Also heard Hopi Tribe is gone, those people were religiously bound to supporting the game.
I hope im wrong, it was a game i still was looking forward to should it ever be a complete game in a final launched state (not the prelude pay to alpha test that i was in)
<--- The Praetorian Guards.. i live below hopi. im still kicking and runing strong. grant it server can be a pain in the ass at times, but im still here for now. Pm me if ya need home in xsyon on these fourms or xsyon fourms :-)
Well ran around got a bout 15 minutes, not a single thing to kill or do, didnt see anything or anyone. finally fell in a hole someone teraformed , couldnt get out, uninstall, game is boring as hell.
I decided not to buy the game for several reasons. One asshole were cutting down every single tree there was there and that means they are GONE and you can run around for hours trying to find a single tree to cut down. The same person started leveling his paving skills and same thing happened.
A few people seriously don't care about the game is designed and treat it like a kiddy tool.
The idea is fairly good but seem like it's getting killed slowly due to the lack of materials.
I think the game will die fairly fast due to the assholes who just vut down everything and ruin it for everyone else.
If it ain't dead you're not pressing 2 hard enough.
unfortanly i have moved on from this game all in all i give it mabyee a 5/10 it was very lacking drive and the need to trade with other chars was to much as i rarely saw anyone in game.
Current games; Star treck online Rift Eve online Firefall
Anyone tried running the game off a SSD with a fast 60Mbit connection or better?
Yes, whats your question about it?
State of the game has changed very little over time. I just posted a combat video. If you take a few mins to watch it you should get a pretty good feel of what its like in game, only likely wont ever see combat as there are very few people playing.
This game really needs to shape up with some of its patches to make the game fun. Forget about adding in another type of wall or another fluffy rabbit model add in things that make the game FUN.
Everything they should be doing now should be looking at the game and say "Will this make it more fun". Adding in slower running speeds because its more balanced isnt going to help, add in things like Zombies that raid your village and break down your walls and eat your leather.

I doubt that it would make any significant difference to gameplay.
The graphics are not very demanding, they should run fine on any mid/low-level card.
Imho, the problem with Xsyon is that it allows Terraforming. That's a pretty cool feature, not so ? The problem with that feature is that each player has to continually download terrain data from the server, because some other player may have dug a hole or built an earth ramp (changing the terrain map).
So the problem is not that you have to load masses of data from your harddrive, you have to continually get it from the game servers.
In all MMO's (afaik), the terrain data is static, so it can be installed once on the client PC and that's that. Usually it's downloaded when you install the game. In Xsyon, you have to continually download it every time you move a certain distance, because the terrain map can change from day to day. With many players ingame, that puts quite a heavy additional load on the game servers. It was a huge problem at launch, because there was a relatively high population (compared to the handful of current players).
