If you are over 18 ,why do you play games?

I figure i will quit playing games once i get older, when im 19 or 20 ;'cause i'll just be into grown up stuff at that age.

So for all the old people that play games......
What is your excuse for playing games,do you have kids that play and you help them or what?

I seriously doubt you'll quit playing games just because you're "grown up". Typically what you found fun as a teen you'll continue to find fun as an adult :)

I still play games becaue, frankly, I still enjoy playing games. No other reason than that. Plus it's a lot cheaper to play an MMO than to pay for a membership at a country club :)

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.

simply because I have been playing video games since they were basically invented... and I plan on being 90 years old in my VR chamber battleing other players in combat!

September 15. Oh geez, I only have a couple more months...I should probably start grinding for the next couple days.

Although not 18 (yet), I'm sure they most will say that they are just fun. fun to play. something to get their minds off what his happening in their RL. Entertainment is a way to put your life on hold and have a little fun.

yeah, it's not like when you hit 18 a lightbulb suddenly goes off in your head, and you say, "oh, wow! I'm a grownup, I don't need video games any more!"... or if it does, it missed me image

    p.s. first post! woohoo!

the older i get , the more i play.

if you think about it, the kids are the ones that are foregoing thier life. now is the time they should be shaping what they will become, concentrating on school, sports, opposite sex, friends all that stuff.

the older people have been there done that, most likey cant go out cuz the wife/hubby dont like it, married so why go to a bar, already been through school basicly just have work, and if their smart they wont even do that long.

personaly i do nothing now but watch the baby, ive partied in more places you can name, met more people than you can immagine, graduated college, got a job, retired at 27. ive been to 47 states, 5 continents, 20 some countries *cough 3 prisons* and i dont really want to leave my house anymore.
im married i cant go out, i got a baby i dont want to get drunk and do something stupid with her around, i couldnt stand working for other people which is why i figured out ways i didnt have to.

so anyway not to jump all over anyone but "old" people are what keep these games alive, you wouldnt even have mmorpg's if we all quit playing at 18.

when you get married and have a house and mortgage and bills up the wazoo and have to work multiple jobs, you still love to play video games and always wish you could play more :P. It helps to have a wife that likes video games like mine hehe, but I still get the " your on the computer too much !" speech all the time heheh.

you can compare playing games like any other entartainment (sports and stuff like that), and why the hell should we stop playing games when we are 18 or more, its not childish at all to me, i think its childish to stop playing games you like when ur 18 and say: "I'm a grown up now im much too old to play games, my mommy told me to do that."

I get off work. I come home and do my work around the house. Mow the lawn, shovel the driveway or whatnot. I spend time with my family but I need to "relax" and wind down. The way I do it is to play MMO's. Some folks read books. Some folks play yahtzee. I prefer online gaming.

What you consider "grown-up" things to do?  News flash, when you get old doesn't mean you stop having fun in life.

    wow

    lots of old ppl

I guess it's cool that all you still find playing fun still i guess

Just hope you arent the type to always corect spelling and stuff or start talking about your wife or kids when u play that just is really weird

Calling me imature and stuff i hate that when they say you play all day and dont work or something thats why youre that level etc or have that item or what not

    Well, what everyone else said.

    Plus..

My glasses broke. Again. They're simply not going to stay together so that's, oh, what is it now? $200 or so for a new pair (prescription has changed so may as well get new lenses too)?

My hip joint is gimped. It makes funny grinding / thunking noises when I move it much. It hurts occasionally "just because". Doc wants me to do physical therapy to fix it. That's doc's visit, hospital visit for x-ray's, and now physical therapy that everyone's going to want to get paid for.

Can't do my karate classes because of it.

Can't even do situps because of the hip joint doing its funky thing when I sit up from a laying position.

This is all somewhat relaxed compared to what some wrestle with. Games are better and more relaxing than real life. ::::20::

Just think about this just one sec , who do you think are making these so called games and am sure they play them too , just look at the eveonline devs they play .

It's all about having fun, there no rules about what age  we should do what .

am 36 and still kicking ass and having a blast .

  • eschienteschient Member Posts: 72

Oh my god, I'm 27, my life is over!!! Someone call the nursing home and get me a room!!

Seriously, why would I stop playing games? It's a good form of entertainment, certainly cheaper than the operas and wine tastings and ski trips I'm supposed to go on now that I'm all grown up and respectable *hides the black, blue and blonde hair*. Games don't have timeframes, they are there when I'm ready to play. They don't close. I can still be social and I don't have to make excuses when I have to get up and do something else.

Whoever posted that really needs to look and reflect. Do you really think you will stop playing games because you hit a certain age? Thats like hitting 18 and being like "Well, I can buy porn now, so I guess I can throw out all my old magazines"

It makes no sense just to overhaul your life because you hit a certain number, because thats all age is, a number. Just ignore it, and live life, stop being so cynical you children, I hit 18 a few months ago, and I can tell you, I will never stop playing or making games, it's my passion, and I will never let it go.

    Long Live the Gamers!

  • I'm a 22-year-old fuul-time wife mother, and college student. When I actually get a break, it's nice to go online and kick somebody's ass for shits-and-giggles. It's a way to relax. My husband plays online, too. So, I'm going to have a happy family full of gamers!

The shine still hasn't worn off for me. First game I ever owned was Coleco Telstar-still have it. It was so damn fun back in the day when I was about 6 and it hooked me for life.

All older dudes still do things that keep em young whether its working on cars or golfing or collecting crap or making remote control airplanes. Fun is fun no matter how old you get, plus now I can afford to get any dang game I want whenever I want it image
