There was a thread about this a while ago. Someone said VGChartz are just looking at US third party selling points or something. Not the rest of the world and digital preorders through Origin. But I might be off.
correct, VGchatrz only shows US retail pre-orders. it does not show digital or european pre-orders
The problem is that a lot of pre orders will be done just to play for free in early access btw.
You can play a week in pre launch just by paying 5 Euros. It is a common practice to cancel the pre order after having tried out the game in pre launch.
Warhammer had ... 1.5 million pre orders but they only sold just over 1M copies at the end.
I know I always do it. So do many of my friends. I never prolonged play in any of these games btw, as I saw I already played the same game for years on end.
agree - preorders are a measurement but there will be cancellations
VGCharts can only display information they have access to, and with that it generally means their numbers for most games, especially those where you can pre-order directly from the distributor are normally way off. Its a fun thing to look at but in the end its about as accurate as using Xfire to determine sub numbers.
Warhammer was published by EA.. EA already said TOR had the highest preorders of ANY EA title ever... I would suspect a large amount of preorders are missing somewhere.
Either that or they finally admits that their counting of WARs pre orders were just them manipulating their numbers by counting every box that went to a store the first week of sales. WAR actually have larger pre order numbers than it have sold copies.
We are still talking a few months left, many people wait with pre ordering the game, and we finally just got the release date so we can't say one thing or another right now. If this would be the final number a week before launch it would be bad but I assume that the number will grow.
Why waste time proving anything to you? You posted to say you just want an argument, and that this thread is to counter a *fanboy* post saying how well TOR is selling on Amazon, so really, you are just trolling.
At the end of the day, EA made official statements to shareholders claiming that TOR has more preorders than any other EA title, including Battlefield 3 which they stated has 1.5 million preorders.
But carry on believing a third rate site like VGchartz over an official EA financial statement.
According to source, the number was never reveal in your so called EA Financial Statement.
and accoding to source from vgchart....it's matches the stat in EA financial statement...7x more
Provide fact or ur just trolling this thread...end of story
A self confessed troll accusing others of trolling... tut tut.
Try reading here, you should be able to see where they reiterate the statement of TOR having most preorders, then they go on to say BF3 has 1.25 million preorders

Thats because EA is limiting the distribution right to origin and certain outlet like amazon only...even steam is out on this. That is why it's not available in world wide section
Maybe you mean digital distribution. But its available for pre-order at games.co.uk. Steam and EA have their own issues. But only the digital deluxe pack (donwload only) is limited to Origin. The CE and regular versions can be pre-ordered almost anywhere.
Seems pretty obvious what you're missing: release.
All those other titles have been released and thus have received all the pre-orders they ever will.
SWToR has not been released and thus has no definite pre-order numbers.
Not all SWToR pre-orders have been made, I'd expect large numbers to arrive a week or so before release.
No SWToR pre-order numbers have actually been published as far as I know. External sources can speculate all they want but only EA and Bioware have the actual numbers due to the number of retail options available.
Just wait for release, you'll be able to get real pre-order numbers that actually mean something then. Before that it's all just mindless speculation and guessing.

Maybe I'm missing something. But who cares? Are there going to be a large number of people in game at launch? Yes. Thats really all anyone should be concerned with. After that it will either be good enough to survive or thrive on its own, or it won't. Preo-order numbers will not change that.

Yeah, that surprised me too.
