rofl yeah, I never made those macros because I wanted to rp... but all those " VENDOR BUY THE BANK SOME GUARDS!"  " BANK THE GUARDS AT THE VENDOR BUY"

there were so many, some were really hilarious haha.

This post makes me miss the old days... but it also confirms that I am not the only one who knew the glory of the old days.

I never made a macro in all my years of playing UO. Never found it that hard to just type BANK each time. Or recdu recsu image

Another thing that came to mind was I remember when people would run when they saw energy vortex being cast. Them things used to be bad mutha's...now they've been nerfed down to mongbat status. And Blade Spirits used to poison....*sigh*

I remember coming back from hoppers bog in T2A and seeing 3 red names. I flipped out and proceeded with caution. Was on the outskirts of papau so I broke for the guarded area. My heart was pounding. Curiousity got the best of me so I ventured back. Palms sweating getting nervous, gearing up to either fight or run. Come to find out it was an old mage tower spawn I came across.

No clue about blood tiles back then, but never experienced that sort of thrilling game play once UOR came around.

Glory days? not for me...but dang it was 100 times more fun.

No offense but as someone who dealt with (and still do to this day) being ADD / Hyperactive I take offense to your gross mischaracterization of what an ADD person is. ADD is not a napolean complex. ADD is the inability to focus on an event, topic or activity. It's symptoms are flightyness and jumping from activity to activity. Hyperactive kids aren't necessarily rude or bossy or any of those things either, they're generally just kids who have a LOT of energy and, thus, wind up getting into things a lot more than other kids.

As to old UO vs. New UO. The problem with OLD UO was multiple characters per account per server which meant that players could get "around" the notoriety system. If people were locked to one toon per server the rampant PK'ing wouldn't have been nearly as bad because the griefers wouldn't have been able to buy things in town or safely use the banks.

New UO is a problem because it split up an already smallish playerbase.

Old UO has a lot of fond memories for me.

To this day I still play UO.  Not OSI's sad watered-down version, but on player run servers where that sense of player freedom is still intact.

Everyone of you go here : CLICKY

  • anarchyartanarchyart Member Posts: 5,378

God, I did go to the clicky PsyX. I MISS UOimage lol I didn't realize how much untill I went to your clicky. That game did so much with so little, all of todays games can learn a LOT from UO. That having been said, I couldn't go back. Really hoping Roma Victor will have some of that magic "I could be breathing my last breath" feeling.

Trouble is, idiots exist. A veteran player who is a complete bedwetter will gank n00bs over and over and NEVER get bored of it! These people are out there, that's who killed your dreams of big time PvP games. Blame HIM, NOT the carebears he was ganking.

Good, I am glad you were offended. Perhaps if more people were offended then they would realize that the mass majority of people diagnosed with ADD are in fact not actually ADD but simply suffering from a lack of having a parent that is worth a crap. ADD is a serious problem, and you are correct in your assertation of it. Do note I was careful to state ADD Type Personality, not ADD, and or ADHD. Again it really boils down to 90% of the people who are diagnosed with ADD/ADHD are not infact, and thus you end up with alot of idiots running around watering down the seriousness of the actual disease. ADD it becoming the modern day Depression...again a another over diagnosed disease that almost became popular to have, another excuse really is all it is. The majority of people claiming to have clinical depression and or ADD and other like social diseases do not, Its just a pathetic cop out to avoid personal responsibility. To those who actually have the above syndromes and it is the Actual disease for them, I feel bad that the medical community got lazy and watered down a serious problem by essentially declairing everyone and their brother had it to sell more drugs for their pharmacutical sponcers.

By the way, you are slightly blurring the difference in ADD ( Attention Deficit Disorder ) and ADHD ( Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ).

ADD ~ Inability to concentrate on anything no matter what it is. Not necessary because of too much energy, simply unable to focus on anything for any length of time.

ADHD ~ The above with the added excess energy, Inability to sit still for any length of time in that the body produces excess energy that must be burned off.

Wrong Diagnosis ~ The above symptoms, but with the ability to Focus for long periods of time on activities they enjoy. The above are only correct when the individual is unable to focus on Anything even things they enjoy. If said individual is able to focus on a single activity simply because they enjoy it, then they are in fact not ADD, simply undisciplined.

Actually, tram did bring a few good things - the foremost of which are the devilishly interesting tram Vs Fel battles we so often had in the forums.  How many hours did i spend reading endless debates between l337 fellies and "fellies suck!" trammies.

Aaaaah, kind of like looking at little kids battle each other over an imaginary prize.  How cute that was...

Of course I dont miss those discussions much because there are plenty of them even here on mmorpg.com between the carebearVsnoncarebear kiddies.

Have fun dashing it out kiddies!  I hope you boost up your egoes a bit in the process!

    Ps. Old UO ROCKS :)

My condition diagnosis predates the invention of the term ADHD by several years. I was originally dignosed as "hyperactive" at age 6. They tested me once or twice a year by putting me on a placebo and asking teachers and parents to submit reports on my personality and behavior every month whether I was on a placebo or not and did not tell them when I was or wasn't on the drug. This went on periodically until age 12 when they stopped bothering to try to re-diagnose me to verify if I had it.

I think around age 13 was the first time I heard the term "ADD" thrown around and then at around 18 or 19 I heard ADHD being used.

But yes, it's a VERY serious disorder and if I hadn't been on medication for it I'd have been very hard pressed to function normally in society. Fortunately most of us who have the disorder seem to learn to self control it in our 20's... which was the case in my point. I didn't so much "grow out of" (the popular terminology) as "learn to compensate" for my disorder.

And, no offense, mis-using the terminology as an insult towards people you dislike or a behavior or activity you dislike is boorish, unbecoming and disrespectful to those of us who have/had to deal with the disorder for our entire lives. I could care less if you agree with me that it's a serious disorder that requires medical assistance. I also could care less that you feel it's over diagnosed (which it is). The point is that by using it as an insult term in a thread on a freaking MMO board you are doing more harm to those who are mis-diagnosed every day than the doctors who are doing the mis-diagnosis.

ADD isn't something to be joked about and it isn't a "personality type" and it isn't a "type of behavior". ADD is a mental disorder that is truely debilitating. The worst part of being ADHD/ADD/Hyperactive/insert cool medical term of the moment is that the person with the condition has NO IDEA that they have it until someone tells them. To us we are perfectly normal and everyone else is just intolerant or stupid. I thank my lucky stars that I was properly diagnosed at an early age so that I was able to adjust to my condition under positive circumstances. Other children, one of my cousins included, were not. And suffered in their adult life because of it.

In short: Keep your banal comments about mental conditions to yourself. This is a gaming forum and hurling insults based on a mental condition that you have zero experience with is just flat out ignorant.
