game has become so bad no longer covered by TB

itgrowlsitgrowls Member Posts: 2,951

it's official. This game has become so bad that TotalBiscuit one of the most honest and critical of game reviewers refuses to cover the beta!

Apparently they are doing the same old model for content but changing things that really have no impact on gameplay ie. making wands a main hand weapon and pet battle system and my personal favorite, the so called solo/small group dungeon or random events. Are there truly random events in  the world or are these merely scripted battles with respawn after respawn like in the battles of Ashenvale that were added in Cataclysm's revamp of the level 1-60 content?

See this is the reason i have a problem with this. Sure they are adding things that should have been added a long time ago due to the age of the game like solo/small group dungeons, however they wait until the game is almost dead in America to decide to add something like Kung Fu Panda Monks. REALLY? are you kidding me? Now i know there are alot of people out there saying "well yeah they need to prepare the way for Diablo III" well i poo poo on that excuse because of the fact that oh i dunno IT NEVER STOPPED BLIZZARD BEFORE!

And i have yet to confirm this by actual blizzard footage but is it true they are limiting talent trees to 16 slots? if so, that just makes this game even worse due to the problems the current fixed-into-a-single-column system by requiring people's choices in talent specs to not be dynamic. Didn't they learn from Rift's class example?

    Everything dies mate, even WoW.

I don't think this is that big of an issue, from the PR of Tb it's just being taken over from Tb to Hb. So once halfbiscuit gets going I don't think it will be much of a problem.

Meh, glad I'm done with WoW.  I would hate to be a current player and have all this crap done to the game.  The only thing worse than quitting a game you've played for a long time is quitting the game because the developers made it terrible.

Good thing the next batch of MMO's are more solid than we have seen before with seemingly less greedy, less lazy developers.

    1.  Rifts classes are BASED OFF of WoWs dual spec system.  WoW has dual specs you can change on the fly.  Rift has 5.  Its the same concept.  Rifts class sytem = Vanilla's flexibility + 8 trees instead of 3 + WoW's dual spec, change on the fly system.  And the talents are going to be able to be changed freely just like glyphs they said.

    2.  Rift's class sytem isnt necessarily a raging success anyway.  More people leave Rift than stick with it after all.  And while most say they love the flexibility, very few ever rave about a particular soul and how awesome it is.  there is an awful lot of watered down in Rift's system, because of its flexibility.

That said, I despise the new talent system and it does not appear like they have done anything to fix the endgame.  In fact, by having everything drop valor they made it worse.  GEARGEARGEARGEARGEAR just isnt fun.  This is something that Rift has learned, well from Rift, because they are at least trying to break away form GEARGEARGEARGEAR mode.

Remember that old saying... "If is isn't broke, dont fix it"'  I am really questioning what the developers are thinking right about now, is this a act the swing more gamers to there upcomeing "Diablo3"??? I mean really.. Monks??... let me say this again and didicate a whole line to this BS...

                                                                                   MONKS???????

IMO, I think Blizz devs need to go back to the original plan and focus the game on what made it amazing "Warcraft"

    this isnt everquest folks... wow!

I think its more to do with a post I read somewhere here on the forums earlier today.  Basically, Blizz, in order to keep people interested and coming back, has to basically reinvent their game otherwise people would see through the lack of creativity on the part of the devs.

    1.  they arent adding this (scenarios are closer to rifts than chronicles)

    2.  what does WoW's age have to do with this?  It still has the most populated servers of any AAA title

    3.  giving soloers access to raid gear just makes WoWs issues worse anyway

having played vanilla, vanilla didn't have this kind of dynamic, they had the same old three tier system the only difference between that and cata is cata requires you to stay in the same tier. So in Vanilla you "could" choose to do a multitier system HOWEVER there was no structure for that. Rift has structure just for that purpose so NO Rift didn't copy wow. Rift did their own thing with the system Blizz had a hand in designing however Blizz wasn't the only gaming co to create this tier system or talent trees. People are leaving Rift not because of the class system but because of issues every game has with PVP balance and with PVE content including but not limited to gear progression issues. I would suggest you get your facts straight before posting again. Facts are everything, thus the reason my original post asked whether or not the talent trees would be changing in WoW.

    dude there pandas....

And changing the system as there doing all i have to say is "SOE" remember SWG?

Never have i heard a more used and abused logical falacy in my time. That's the same as saying, more people watch Fox news so they therefore must have all the facts since they are so popular. You could never be more wrong. People are holding onto WoW because of it's psychological hold on them, the reward system as well as the social dynamic of whole families playing this game for so long has had everything to do with it's success, not the quality of it's content.

what's fascinating about it is Monks are another class that were asked for heavily by many players when the Burning Crusade was being developed and hyped and they wait until now to do these things. I do hope other game makers are taking notes so they don't make this same mistake of waiting til the eleventh hour to bring a heavily requested item or class to their games.

personally i attribute this kind of nonsense we are seeing in the problems of the next expansion to one man, Greg Street. The execs should have never put this man in charge of anything let alone a game of this size when his biggest contribution to the game is an entire (useless in endgame) underwater zone.

Looks like every class is getting Nerfed... Get this, there taking Melee Weapons away from huntards,

too lazy to write new script so they just take some away??

No more buff totums for Shamies,

exactly. what the world are they thinking with shamans anyways. Now i can see turning them into a minibuff system with toggles but taking away the buffs entirely is just stupid and lazy. They really are bleeding revenue.

however if you give everything the players ask for in the first game or expansion, what you gona give them later on?

seeing that blizz have 12 mil players at BC time, its ok to them just to release 2 new race and a new continent, and slowly releasing the class that players wants to continue to keep them.

I think the next x-pac they will include player housing, and maybe beast slayer and necromancer, just to make players keep staying and coming back

To keep a game alive and sparkling after so many years, it requires a lot of innovation and revamps... OTherwise people grow tired of it after a few years (which is quite an accomplishment itselves)

Blizzard is not doing that enough to keep old timers sattisfied, but there are still a lot of people still tied to this kind of gameplay... Because tehre are still new players joining the game and having a blast...

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

yap, my main is shammy, and im kinda sad over this, need to wait longer and see how the whole thing goes, as you still get other skills on top of these 6

just saw that expansion (I actually like oriental themes so don't say i just don't like the theme.) and boy does it look god awful....honestly I'm not a blizz hater or a wow hater, shit I've played since bc....I was hoping for an amazing xpac after cataclysm, since in cat they worked on re-doing the old parts of the game, figured that end game of this next xpac would be awesome...guess not. I mean wtf where they thinking? It barely even fits the theme of wow....It looks so awkward that it should be a f2p game. I honestly can say that naustalgia will no longer bring me back to wow, for they have truely, truely, absolutely ruined it. I expect either a mass deflation of MMO players, or huge migration to rift (until this next mmo wave). I can't believe this.........such a bad bad bad amature looking expansion.... What they hell happened to when the next expansion came out with some intense story with illidan or arthas.... I mean even deathwing is cooler than what they are giving us here....this is a down right slap in the face to the loyal playerbase. If you disagree it's cool i'm not hating on you... this is my personal rage coming out and for the most point, has no point. I'm sure they're will be a lot of people who think this is cool. But man this is just not wow. not at all. effe blizzard.

i think you're right and it does make for a good business model when mmo's first released however it's become a thing of the past with most of the new dev companies because people want what's fun now and don't want to wait three years for a class to be released. Once wow's hold is gone, i think blizz will most likely have to change their game plan for future titles due to companies like those making GW2,  SWTOR, and Rift being so competative and not manipulative of the fanbase.

I and many have had bad experiences with these kinds of actions.. I know I said it in an earier post but this reminds me exactly the time SOE messed with SWG and went from Pre-CU, to CU, to NGE it was a horrible Domino effect that left many ticked off.  Im still not over that crap and it was years ago.. yes i have no life but still.

I dun think you can compare this to the hated nge, as in nge they basically change the gameplay and flush down your years of works, however in this x-pac it's still the tree system, but 3 different ways of it, so gameplay wise nothing is change, and may even improve the tree, we will see
