yeah, we all know how cool it is to go to a website (or in this case thread) and complain about things we don't like. it 's why they made the internet, right?
i think the problem, is that when a group of people are excited about something, they have no desire to hear an anrgy bunch of detractors invade their party. the detracors of said thing, could just as easy flock to things they enjoy. instead, they spew off their opinion as if it matters just for the sake of getting under someones skin. they say it's their 'opinion' as if it means shit, but we all know people do it just to start flamewars. it's a big pissing contest, is it not?
me? i do not go to websites i do not care for, or make posts on game forums that i don't like. i have no clue why it seems so fun to some people. i understand a healthy objective opinion of something is a good thing, but those are few and far between, and usually lost underneath pages of mindless hate. i try to get banned from this site often, just to see how hypocritic the mods are for singlng out my act of hatered, yet ignoring so many others, just because i'm not afraid to use 'bad words'.
so in hope of a good ban. fuck the fuck off to every mod of this site.....
(i won't minfd a perma- ban. really. quit mailng my fucking email with your bullshit)
p.s.- who cares about pandas? i've never played an expansion featured race past 20 anyway. but i ca't wait for my nightelf monk!!!
People dont seem to understand what the definition of "FORUM" is. Allow me to show you.
a meeting or assembly for the open discussion of subjects of public interest
Allow me to define interest and discussion!
INTEREST: A state of curiosity or concern about or attention to something
DISCUSSION: Consideration of a subject by a group; an earnest conversation.
And so this is what you see in any internet FORUM. A public meeting place for open discussion. You'll naturally have voices of curiosity, concern, excitement and otherwise. Negative feelings posted is still INTEREST. Its still worthy of the discussion and thus worthy of the forum itself.
Yet still people cant seem to stop telling "haters" to get out of the threads, and "fanboys" to shut up. Its a forum. Thats like....the very definition of it. You'll have some praise, some hate, and everything in between because thats kind of what a forum is about.
Ive been trying to explain this for years to people. Its so simple to understand yet seems to escape 90% of people participating in a FORUM. Maybe the fact is some of you just dont like forums. So if thats the case dont participate. Because if you do, you are going to get some negative comments because those people are INTERESTED.
And there you have it. And dont bother arguing with me. Or saying, " If people dont like it they should shut up. " Forums are not a fan club. They are a FORUM to have DISCUSSIONS based on INTEREST. Have a nice day.
So Pandaren are the feature most asked for, and this is supposed to be an explanation?
A game designer should have learned that what his community is asking for the most, is in most cases not a good idea. Esp Blizzard should have learned this when they gave in to other most-wanted features since release... where are their own ideas, where is someting new and innovative?
Im glad at least one gaming site is kind of staying objective about it. Instead of gushing over this expansion.
This radio episode is brilliant! :-) I laughed my ass off listening to the jokes about pandas... lol At least there are game journalists out there who are not afraid just to say that pandas suck, rather than lick blizz's asz on the matter asking "Why do players think this expansion to be joke???? - it is not!" )))
If the film Kung-fu panda (a film created for kids/family audience) had never had been created then nobody and I mean NOBODY would have made a correlation between panda monks and childrens appeal.
It's amazing how the human psyche works isn't it?, It's just a shame that most human beings are so narrow minded they can't get past media suggestion in their heads.
I can't believe how immature WoW is getting. I mean Gnomes, talking Cows, Space Goats, Night Elves and murlocs are one thing, but Pandas are where I draw the line! <@:-)

btw I can't stand WoW and would never play it.
They went too far here, any cute furry would have gotten some whining about childish stuff but with adding the monk they took their old cultural reference joke too far.
It is not about human psyche here, you can see how influenced the artwork is by the Kung fu panda movies.
Next race after this will be: Ogre.
To me it seems like Blizzard have run out of imagination.

Nope, Blizzard will probably go for this:
Imagine this, a portal in every city to their Cloud Realm, you can buy little twinkle star pets in the Blizzard Store and a brand new EPIC CLOUD CAR!!!!!! (if you finish the 25-man heroic raid on the evil Twin Brothers of the Cloud Realm Big Bird & Elmo.

That is one of the MAIN points of the topic. If there was no movie there would be no Panda race by Blizzard either. The timing is pretty much proof in the pudding, the VERY shallow lore behind Blizzard's Panderin was 8+ years ago,if they were taking it serious it would have been perhaps even in Wow on release never mind this much later.
Nope i think it is VERY obvious they delivered this BECAUSE of the movie and even COPIED it's monk/kung FU abilit. The Factual lore shows the Panderin to be a sword weilding more so Samarai class NOT a MONK class and even how they became sword experts was a rather shallow introduction to their lore.
Also another fact is Wow has been citicized since it's inception for looking very cartoony ,childish,so it is not the Panda doing it ,Blizzard is just continuing to follow it's pattern.
I already told you the WHY,it is because their LEAD artist loves cartoony type characters[ [especially Pandas],this is his style, therefor it is Blizzard's style,it wasn't the Panderin race that all of a sudden opened people's eyes.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

You are wrong. There is a reson why they started in warcraft lore as april fools joke, even the creators of Warcraft initialy feeled they doesnt fit in warcraft lore.
So where were these people screaming when they added Panderan Monk non-combat pet to the game?
I think people were rather upset that it was a cash shop item rather than a Panderan Monk.
A silly minipet isn't really that annoying, making an entire expansion on the theme is a very different thing.
I think most of the complains is because most people believe that this isn't good enough to base an expansion on. If they added a small panda island as a free update no one would have cared and the monk class is a standard D&D class so it in itself would not really have gotten much complains.
But my feeling is that first they make an expansion by revamping old zones and now this, it seems like Blizzard is running out of imagination, and that happened when Kaplan moved to Titan after the release of Wotlk.

Now see, I thought Blizzard's idea of revamping the old zones was a very original idea, and really enjoyed playing through them in their new form. Perhaps my only complaint was they've improved the levelling speed so much that you really can't spend the time to enjoy all the revamped areas unless you create several alts to do so.
Same with Pandarian, love em, hate me, but it certainly takes imagination to add them into a lore where most of the characters are traditional fantasy (well, except for the space goats, and I think Wizardry jumped the chain by adding in aliens, robots and other non traditional fantasly to their lore and that still worked)
I can't help think that if Blizzard had gone with a Grizzly bear modeled race everyone would be fine with it, but then that really wouldn't have made much sense from a lore perspective.
As far as the monk class goes, its not just restricted to Pandas, so why is everyone complaining, they wanted new classes, they got one finally.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
They were always april fools joke, part of lore that should never existed ...
So what if a lot of ppl wanted them (btw i would be realy interested in % of player base), if they would make poll you can bet that a lot of ppl would voted to add pokemons to game too ... Wait ! ... They just did that ... :P
I think your right and lets not forget the percentage of people that would write in and ask for Pandas would have been exceptionally low compared to the player base .

Actually, I agree with you there. A grizzly would have gotten less complains (even though I still don't think it is good enough for a fantasy race unless you make a Narnia game).
And the monk is not a bad class and have been in games since AD&D in the 70s.
Mixing monk and panda however is not a great idea, and that is who most people complain.
I don't think imagination is the right world, it seems to me that they just ripped of 2 animated movies here. It is just like if they had added an ogre race that looks like Shrek.
