After the official announcement of each and every expansion to WoW, posters on this board have predicted its doom.

They have been wrong on every occasion.

    It seems so yes.

Blizzard lost many many subs with Cataclysm (around 1 million)

Mist of Pandarian might even double that amount.

I asked around in my guild and lots of people are frustrated about it.

With GW2 and SWtor commiong closer to release Blizzard may lose major support of their playerbase for the 1st time.

2x avarage xpacks might be to much for alot of people.

Not to mention the 2 new mmo's comming soon.

No one in this thread has predicted its doom if I read correctly.

We are just having a good laugh at... Pandaren. And some raised eyebrows towards Blizzard.

Probably the most backlash I have seen from an expansion and it isn't even out yet. I imagine some will buy it but I am thinking this expansion will not go over well.

My reaction when I saw this expansion. The game game been secretly sold to the Chinese.

2 back to back disasters in the making for wow,  not good.  Honestly panda folks like the move is 2 years old and were now just getting to putting panda's in game.  LoL,

To paraphrase Walter Sobchak, Damn it Dudes, the Pandarians aren't the issue here!!

Or at least not the ONLY issue, or even the MAIN issue.

The backlash about this expansion has a hell of a lot more to it than just people who don't like what they feel is the whole "Kung Fu Panda" schtick. The heart of the anger goes back to the game play changes made in Cataclysm, (which even the game devs are admitting didn't work as they feel the need to make drastic changes again), and for some of us all the way back to when Ghostcrawler first started pissing in our mugs of fun. You know the whole gear centric, grind centric, e-sport sterile arena epeen stroking quick fix PVP, raid or die, mentality that has seeped like a broken septic system into every aspect of game play so even those players who don't raid have to suffer from it? Or at the very least, conform to it.

To many of we disgruntled former Wow fans it feels like a certain egotistical bastard has stolen the game we enjoyed from us and perverted it into something hardly recognisable. This next expansion is just one more bundle of damning evidence that our anger and dissapointment is justfied. And that the game we loved is just a corpse to be abused to the amusment of Ghostcrawler and his mephtic minions.

The problem for many people and WoW players is that it's not just about the Pandarens they are adding.

    1. There is no Main central storyline boss. ( They are skimming here they should have added a main boss like they had every other expansion.

    2. They added one race instead of 2 but here is the kicker. The Pandaren race can be either Alliance or horde , the problem with this is think about BGS or Arenas where you can get confused easily who your attacking. Also it doesn't fit well with the lore side that Pandarens can be either side.

    3. Talents- LOL Need i say more??? The talents got butchered again and they are just dumbing it down so the new developers on WOW don't have to work as hard because they are amateurs. They are the ones left making Expansions while the real talent has gone on to Make TItan -Blizzards next MMO>

I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards....

I've been playing mmos for 10 years now and I've never seen anything like it for any expansion for any game . Nor have I ever seen a company have to come out and tell people its not a joke .

It must be pretty clear to some people at Blizzard they are heading towards disaster . I would urge them to speak up .

Its still not too late to cancel this expansion . A climb down and a rethink on the next expansion may not be easy but in the long game it may be the best move they could make at the moment .

Outside of a few fanboys there really is very little support of this lackluster expansion . Blizzard can still save itself and Warcraft but I doubt they will . They have grown too arrogant and complacent a bit like a politican thats had too much power for too long .

The end of the domincance of WoW is in sight now .

Concerning #1 - Not much to say here for me. I'm kind of tired of killing the bad guy who's going to end the world repeatedly. You can only kill them so many times before it's just lame.

Concerning #2 - nobody will be confused about who they are attacking, because players are either Red (you attack them) or Green (you don't attack them).

Concerning #3 - Previous incarnations of the talent trees were boiled down to specific specs for specific things. If you raided as dps, you picked this spec. If you raided as a healer, you picked this spec. Repeated until nauseated. Perhaps now there will actually be some choices based on how you want to play instead of how you must play.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

So according to this article (tinfoil hat on) some dude liked drawing pandas and as a hobby had a ton of them made up already and Blizzard in thier new bussiness model of increased mediocrity and laziness decided to use that rather than come up with something new???

Management will approve ....less time involved  less development = less cost and more profit. Steal the pokemon idea add it and rehashed open world bosses (yes they have had them before) , tie in dailies to instances for the mandatory horrid idea to be included - and call it a day.

BAM new expansion lets go to the bank boys!!!!!!!!

    Pass.

That would have been a better idea compared to pandas ))) And Blizz would be able to include the donkey mask and the fool's cap into the collectors edition, so the players can dress appropriately for their gaming sessions )))

Concerning #1 - There has to be a point to an expansion. There is no main point to this expansion on storyline other than more daily quests and battlegrounds

Concerning #2- It doesn't make sense that this race can beither Alliance or horde. They are introduced so they are either an evil abomination race or the most cuddly alliance pandas ever , but not both.

Concerning #3- the new talent system will still make it where people have to take certain talents. They should have just left the system alone and expanded on it and not crush it down and make it worse.

Final point: Like someone else mentioned if this is all they were going to do then they should have just made it a free content update and not forced it out as an expansion. I think many people will be dissapointed with this expansion and WoW will lose a lot of subs because of it.

I would give you a guest pass to SWOTR, but then I wouldn't be able to find a way to live with myself afterwards....

Btw just thought I would put it out there...   The Draenei, aka space goats were a major part of Warcraft III and the taking of the black citadel... Aka black temple.    So yea the space goats have been around since the beginning :P    But as for the brewmaster pandas...  I think there's like only one or two situations you even get to see them, but then again I haven't played that game in a long time.  I could be wrong.

I have WOTLK and Cata and im pretty sure I will go back for MOP. But I will say Dragim, that anyone who played vanilla and BC got the best of what WOW has offered.  The game most certainly changed after BC and imo, not for the better. But I still manage to have fun and enjoy playing with friends, some of which ive played with for six years. Six years.  Where does the time go?

Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.

WoW expansions is all i would need to sustain myself for centuries to come.

I see people are still complaining about this. WoW has ALWAYS been cartoon'ish. We have to be 8 to like pandas or welcome the concept of having an oriental themed race with not only pandas but a monk class as well? DON'T PLAY THE #$%@ GAME IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT!!! Seriously. Its retarded to cry over pandas. There's too much nerd-rage in here.

Getting too old for this $&17!

    "Po" - Kung Fu Panda - 2008

"Chen Stormsnout" - Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne - 2003

"Li Yang" - The Chronicles of Panda Khan - 1986

Yeah, this stuff has been around for a while, it's not an attempt to market off of 'Kung Fu Panda' since Blizzard has had pandarians at least 5 years prior, and an anthropormorphic panda has been around since at least 22 years before 'Kung Fu Panda'.

Stupid thoughts like 'cute and fluffy == kiddie stuff' are the same kind of flawed thinking that causes animated porno movies to show up in the childrens section at the video stores. (I've embarrased several different store managers with that revelation.)

    Kung Fu Panda came first.

Do you think the guys that started making 'Kung Fu Panda' back in 2003 were inspired by 'Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne' which was RELEASED IN 2003, or maybe 'Panda Khan' which had it's first mini-series in 1986 ?

Sorry to dissapoint, but the last thing to be created is NEVER the first in the line.

Some say they are catering to casuals... and looking at a lot of their changes in the expansion, yeah... they are actually... so many of the features are more gimmicky then anything. Claim it all you want, but a pet battle system is NOT a main feature to be a selling point in a game. Its nice extra glitter, but its NOT something you can hope to add as a big selling point. Really feels like its pulling at straws to get something someone likes. Really really really pulling at straws. No its not cause the pandas... just their choice with them being added as horde AND alliance that really makes it feel half assed.

  • valariavalaria Member UncommonPosts: 23

This makes me know I made the right choice when I cancelled my WoW suscription instead of buying cata.

  • FoomerangFoomerang Member UncommonPosts: 5,628

Instead of Pandarans, I would have liked to see Arakkoa and Ethereals as playable races. I would've bought that xpac.
