I assume it would take me the whole 5 days to download such 40 GB...
Heh, is your internet service really that bad? I guess I should count my blessings for having the service that I have available here, and it only costs me $30 a month. For cable TV and Net access. I can DL 40 gigs in about 2-3 hours.

They couldnt have made it any earlier as the liscensing rights to SOE do not expire until the 15th of December.
Any sooner would have given Sony the right to sue for breach of contract.

But your reasoning is way off, SOE forfitted the license and didn't renew it. They would have no case at all. On top of that you have no idea what stipulations SOE's license awards them, as well as it is LA's property not SOE's.

What I'm curious about is how people who pre-ordered the CE / Physical copy will be able to get early game access. I understand you get a preorder code which more or less puts you in line for early game access, but in the preorder FAQ, it states you will need to also have the actual game code in order to play. So will they be shipping out the CE preorders / physical copys "up to 5 days" before Dec. 20th? (I'm assuming probably not.)
Those eligible for Early Game Access will be able to download the game client before it starts.
There will be a period after launch day in which those who have pre-ordered will be able to continue playing before entering their Game Code. More information on this will be made available closer to launch.
Oh.. I have a 20GB cap (sour face)on my ISP. I order CE I hope that it comes before the early release and that I can just use the disks to load it instead and use the pre-order code without having to do a monsterous download =/
To be honest if I wanted to download it I would have gotten a digital copy instead, come on let us use the physical disk to load please otherwise what is the point of having disks if I have to download it?

I live in BERLIN, capital of the Reich... err Republic. EVERYWHERE in the city people have super fast DSL, just in MY STREET not. Plus, with 5,000,000 people downloading SWTOR it probably will be a crawl.

HEh, that opening made me chuckle, sorry to hear that man, yeah you're right about the issue with everyone DLing at once, I'm sure there will be issues there. One reason I decided to just wait for a physical copy a few days after launch.

This works out pretty good for me. I start a 2 week vacation on the 16th of December. Lol, i even told my family I have to work and can't drive down for the holidays.
Anyway, I'm curious( and a little nervous) about how this launch is going to play out because whether or not you're a fan of the game it's success or failure will likely affect the genre for years to come.
I guess it is 5 days maximum, but most players will get something around 2-3 days of early access. While I would love to have much more - like 10 days :-) 5 days sound pretty fair. I still have no idea about how fast the leveling in TOR would be, but it really can't be slower vs WoW (I hope much faster) - which means the hardcore/maniacal type players will hit the cap by the time new players with no early access arrive. Taking for granted - most hardcore/maniacal players would pick up sith, the republic newbies would be under heavy ganking on PvP servers and would have trouble leveling, which might cause a lot of demotivation on their side :-) I for sure would be the one looking for some world PvP kills after I max level my sorcerrer =;-) so yeah - 5 days are fair *sigh*.
Im gonna stick my neck out here and say, Im not sure 5 days will be enough lead time for server stress or problems. My guess will be a few more early acess days added. This is just a guess.

Well I hope you're right, wouldn't count on it though.
But who knows, if they run into trouble when they roll out a few more weekend beta's.

I have a yearly party at work on the 15th till around midnight! Then again when I come home my wife and kids are in bed, I hope to have downloaded before and then I have the whole night to play!
I'm sure the client will be availablr for download prior to the 5 days early access.

Kind of bummed about the staggered influx for pre-orders. I pre-ordered a few hours after sales opened but didn't realize the part about the code redemption applying to early access. Waited a good month before I redeemed the code so I suppose I won't get much of the 5 days early access. Kind of a dumb system if you ask me but it is what it is.

I'll start my Dl of the game (when it becomes avail) and go to work or sleep. Should be done in about 8 hours from where i am.
Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.
Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.
1st. -> depending on when you redeem your Pre-Order Code, you will gain Early Game Access up to five days before the official game launch date.
2nd. -> staggered over five days.
Guys read again ..

Don't realy care about early access, if i'm not able to try beta first, i'm not buying until i get some solid info about the game.

Not sure I understand the whole "staggered over 5 days" part... can someone explain please?
With all that voice acting and cut scenes, i can see it being around a 30gb download.
Depending on when you redeemed your pre-order code at the official site, you will be let in on a first-come, first-served basis.
Everyone who redeemed will get some early access, but not everyone will have 5 days. Those who redeemed later might have less early access time.

Well.... am I allowed to say how it was to Install/DL the beta? (from the weekends)
Yeah I am thinking the game client will proceed the Servers going live too.

So the early access starts the same day SWG closes. I wonder if that was done on purpose?
