I read the faq when i ordered and its always stated u got early acess based on when u redeemed your code. I redeemed mine the moment i got it which wa slike 5 mins after i ordered.
Since i redeemed my code day 1 i assume i get in on day 1 of early acess. That said if u didnt redeem your code with all the dev posts on the subject and the order faq that was out day 1 thats your fault.
Its not like bioware wasnt saying this from day 1 that it was a staggered early acess based on when u redeemed your code.
I'm not concerned about early access because I want a head start on my character, I just want to be able to play this game as soon as possible after waiting so long for it. I'm not going to be rushing to level my character, for my first toon I want to experience everything the game has to offer.
I didn't need to click the link I could see it through the force :P

Wow 5 days. Time enough to level 2-3 chars to level 50 if the current MMO trend continues. All kidding aside I would be shocked if many people are not level 50 on the 2nd day of early access. I guess the real question is will Bioware release with an actual tested endgame. Enough of an endgame to keep players busy and subbing into month two Rift is pretty much the only MMO in recent memory to do this. Will Rift become the new standard for MMO releases or will SWTOR be like almost all MMO releases and be very unfinished at release? I hope not. But then again I am not sure Bioware's business model is centered around appealing to veteran MMO players. Maybe they think a well told story will be enough to keep ultra casuals, sw fans and Bioware singleplayer fans happy and subbing for a few months.
The only bonus part about when i used origin, was the fact i had my code no more then 1 mimute after the very first pre-orders page went up. which means i had the code in very fast. so i get the 5 day group that gets 5 day access.
Also origin had this little option that when you payed the extra your physical CE box would be shipped and you would get it the very day the early access starts. so regardles orgin was a smart move. some of my friends used gamestop and hate my guts for reading comprehension win.
of course my spelling sucks but yay for me taking the time to read the order before i hit the button.
5 days will not be a lot of levelling time if the servers keep dying under the stress.
I'll be extremely suprised if early access launch day is smooth and trouble free. I'll also be suprised if any problems are ironed out by general launch day.
They already stated before that the download will be somewhere between 20-30Gb and this is infact already the case with those who are testing (and need to download that whole chunk over and over everytime they change builds!).
I was hoping Early Access would have been more like 10 days but I guess every free day will be fine (Im guessing Early Access wont go out of your 30 days sub you get with purchasing the game).
Well i am sure you will be able to pre-load it through Origin (i have the game listed there after i enterd my pre-order code) since that have been the deal with every other game.
Will not help the people with a DL cap (i do feel for you people) but it will at least give the rest of us a chance.
I will believe it when I see it. People who have been paying attention to the games will see the patteren of EA lies already coming out. I went and preordered SWTOR the day the pre order went live. I recieved my pre order code and went home to register it. When I went to the site the message posted there by the bioware team was that people who registered there preorder code would be in line for beta test weekends, this was not a post on the forums this was the message posted by bioware/ ea whichever is handleing the site. As september passed and only a handful of people recived invites to the weekend beta's people were upset. Then all the stuff that WAS there about the preorder registration was removed and a post went up in the forums that said basically they never said people would get beta weekend access that was a fan rumor.
People claim that EA is just the distributer but, if you have been paying attention EA bought Bioware a few months ago and anyone that has paid attention to EA's last attempts at an mmos will notice this from EA's other games. They say something and everyone see's it then they remove it and claim they never said it.
Westwood studios was ruined by EA look at what they did to command and conqer, the newest edition is an unplayable mess. Earth and Beyond was one mmo they ruined, Motorcity madness, sims online and one of the most anticipated games of the year Battlefield 3 was released a mess. The multi person co-op mode gone. Trying to get into a squad is a work in frustration and then trying to get into a game with said squad is near impossible. You spend more time fighting with the menu's then you do playing the game. Try getting on a server solo and you get dropped A LOT.
Don't count on early acess people it is probaly a lie, and if they actually do it then you won't be able to get on a server because they did not think far enough ahead to account for all the people that preordered.
Just a head's up - "Early Access" isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be. For Age of Conan anyway, it was mostly down time and buggy play when it was up - but mostly down time.
SWTOR will probably be more ready though at release, judging by the people involved in making it.
Have played: Everquest, Asheron's Call, Horizons, Everquest2, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Warhammer, Age of Conan, Darkfall

For what it's worth, I have no plans to play in the early access. I have pre-ordered and registered, but have no interest in playing the game earlier than 12/20.
I do plan to play on launch day though and can already see spectors of the issues awaiting players just from the comments made in this, and many other, threads.
The bulk of us have been burned by so many bad launches in the past that we are skeptical about the potential for a good launch. That skepticism is based around what we would expect to experience in a good launch.
The bigger the hype, the bigger the letdown.
With such a large influx of players, there are going to be server issues. The servers won't be conditioned to handle the stresses that are going to be placed on it in the first month.
We'll have to be patient.
There are going to be hurdles to play experience. Whether it's not getting into early access when expected, slow DL times, Login Server Issues (getting ready for the 3 hour queue). There are, most likely, going to be bugs/exploits. I've little doubt their DB has been parsed and there are groups who have figured where the lvl/gear/ class sweetspots are and will be taking advantage of them.
We are going to get blasted with RMT shouts in towns and /tells for at least some period of time after launch.
There will be less content at launch than there will be a year from launch.
We know these things will happen... Don't let it affect your outlook on the game. By January 20th all of these issues will, most likely, have been resolved.
What we have to hope for is a wealth of content (specifically, content we haven't been exposed to at all yet) for each level, regularly added and fresh content for end game, a group of Devs who listen and know when to act on the important (Quest, Balance, QoL) stuff, and a "positive" community.
If we get these the game will be a success regardless of the launch week woes.
when you guys entered you pre order bonus code from gamestop did it say, "standard edition code" even though you pre ordered the collectors. the guy at gamestop said it doesn't matter im still getting the giant box etc. but, if its like WoW, based on the code I entered the stuff will appear in my mail box. or is the pre order code different from the account key code I will get on release?

Thats odd.. I did pretty much the same as you and DID get in on one of the pre order stress test weekends....Maybe you just did it wrong.
I've been burned by bad releases, also, but what I CAN say is that I have high hopes from what I've seen of SWTOR (yes, actually seen, not just read about). I haven't totally decided on when I want to get started with this game, but right now I'm excited about a real release where my characters aren't in any danger of being deleted in a few weeks.
I expect the whole thing to be one giant cluster-fork. Downloads will be slow because of all the preorders. And stuff like log in servers are bound to glitch. (That seems like part of what happened the first "weekend beta test", right?) And I'm not saying that "BioWare/EA are lying to us..."
Just that's the way it normally goes. And despite the fact they've tried to "plan for it". They're just going to have a huge mass of people. So its pretty unlikely they'll really be prepared.
In some respects, the factor of some having difficulty downloading the client in time might help. And while some of you might feel that's unfair... I'm not sure it can really be helped.
What would probably be the worst case scenario is if they gave us more than 2-3 days ahead of time to begin the client download. Because if they 2.5 million plus people to get on the servers they're going to be tempted to rush things. And that increases the likelihood of unexpected things occurring.
One last thing: I really don't expect the servers to "calm down" by the 20th. Maybe by the end of the month things will start to improve. And, as always, if they do a better job than I expect I'll both surprised and happy. I would just prefer not to expect anything near "pefection" ahead of time. Reality all to frequently fails to meet those expectations.
The character models in this game look horrible. At least everything else looks good. Just waiting on a trial before I risk my money. Of course I could always reserve and get the 5 day headstart and if I hate it, I'll just pawn the account onto someone else.
