Not to mention itll be more crap about how cataclysm "changed" world of warcraft, when its really just more of the same crap. With the new games on the horizon, WoW is gonna have a rough time if they try to drag this last patch with 8 bosses out for a year or more like usual.

WOW will still come out on Top of most of these games in 2012. Only real threat is TERA, GW2 and maybe some other NON generic Theme park games. But even all those combined might not reach WOW's number.

    Tera a real threat. Hahahahahah!!!

It's not so much about reaching wow's numbers, it's more like X number of games with steal a portion of wows playerbase. Sure it may trudge on but at lower numbers. GW2 doesnt have a sub thought so people may continue to play both. I don't see why people think that some players don't play multiple MMO's and if one plays something other than WoW, it will fall.

It will probably still be top in terms of subscriber numbers but Mists of Pandoria is proving so unpopular in its concept its unlikly it will maintain anything like its current subscrber base .

You only have to look at all the possative reaction to StarWars TOR is getting everywhere on the net now the NDA is lifted to know the game is going to be the biggest mmos success in since Wacraft . Inspite of a few trolls and terrified fanboys here and there you can pretty much see its a polished and fun game and is going to be a blockbuster of a title .

How that will effect WoW remains to be seen . ToR will obviously bring new blood to the mmo genre but it will also appeal to many WoW players that are disallusioned with the direction of the game . This is not an Aion , Age of Conan , Warhammer online disater of a game nor is it something that going to have success on a limited scale like Rift . This is a Blockbuster of a game and its quality is already shining through . I estimate anything between 2 -5 million players will leave Warcraft for it in the next 18 months . Some people may play both or alternate between the two .

If Tera is really as good as you think well then the loses could be on and even larger scale  .

The demise of WoW and eventual end is probably a decade or more away but fans will have to soon get used to thier game losing many of its players .

On a quick side note I think Blizzard will be desperate enough to offer 1-2 weeks free for this upcoming event to try and lure back old players so if you want some free time in WoW I would keep your eyes pealed .

Hell I may log back in for old times sake myself . But free Warcraft is the only Warcraft I'm ever going to play again .

He is basing it on his wisdom what else. He just repeats the sames thing in every topic related to WOW. Just check his post history and you will get the idea. Since he hates WOW and anything related to it so others should also hate in large numbers.

Really ? I guess you know a lot of WoW fanatics then . I still know a lot of people playing the game because I only gave it up this past spring . Many have either left or are playing out the last part of thier multi-month subscription or are simply carrying on playing for something to do untill StarWars is released . A handfull of people I know look on it favourably and the rest view it as either underwealming or just plain awful . You only have to look at the comments all over the web to realise its mostly a negative relaction to the concept . It goes way beyond haters are going to hate because in many cases its coming for people that don't hate Warcraft they love it but hate where its heading and MOP has confirms thier worst fears .Why do you think Blizzard had to issue its famous "its not a joke " statement ???  If you think this expansion is good for Warcraft your really going to have the shock of your life coming to you next year .

People see what they want to see. I have seen more positive reactions than negative ones. Even my guild is excited though i a m going to move to SWTOR. Also i find it funny that you are askign him if he knows a lot of WOW fanatics when you yourself are forming an opinion on basis of people that you know who hate WOW's new expac.

    Irony anyone?

On people Iknow and overwealming negative reaction on the internet which Blizzard were so worried about they had to come out an issure a statement about the expansion not being a joke .Which in itself speaks volumes . The basis of my opinion goes far beyond the people I know personally .

No it doesn't go beyond anything other than your failure to understand that neither you or anyone else can compass the views of millions of WOW players. Somethings are better left to time instead of jumping to conclusions and then look like a fool afterwards. Stastics, numbers and percentages means nothing when it comes to the decision of majority when it is actual release date. if you can form an opinion on basis of what you saw, heard or read on internet other can too and frankly no one can say with 100% certabity that MOP is going to flop or it is going to be run away success.

Actually maybe you would like to re-read my post because its pretty obvious to me you arn't capable of absorbing what you read maybe you missed the part where I said and I quote

"It will probably still be top in terms of subscriber numbers " . Its right there at the top of the post . Dunno how you missed it .

Sadly you like many people in these forums you react to what you think said rather than what is actually said .

The fact it I recognise that it will still be top in terms of subscribers means the expansion will still sell well in terms of units sold does it not ? Because logically people playing a game will want to eventually own the latest expansion . But if that if at the expense of losing several million subscriptions then its a disaster .

You do know Blizzard lost 1.7 million subs in the last six months or so ? This was at a time when the only real competition came from Rift and a few free to play games . What do you think the most logical course of events will be when something far more popular than Rift comes along .

Also maybe you would like to explain if Mists of Pandoria has been so well recieved  why Blizzard itself had to issue a statement that its not a joke .? I've never known a company have to do that before have you ?

Maybe if you want me to put it in very simple terms what I think will happen with MoP so you can understand it . This is what I think .

Mists of Pandoria will be well in terms of units sold but down in terms of sales to previous WoW expansions . Warcraft will continue to lose subscrbers each quarter and in the next year the loses in the first two quarters  will be signifantly larger than 800k  . There may be a brief but limited boost in subscription numbers around the time of its release and for a few months after bur overall the course of decline and downwould trend will continue,of course will reach a point when it will stabilise somewhat . Maybe it will only 2 million players but personally I think in all liklyhood it will signifcantly more than that .

Of course there is always room for doubt you can never be 100 percent sure of an outcome but you can predict the most  likly course of events and usually that is what transpires .

Glad to see you like StarWars by the way . Good isn't it . :)

The guy is an epic TOR fanboy, so all that really matters is it gives him something to hype up TOR. Honestly its kinda sad to see how his fanaticism has snowballed into these large waffling posts.

That's four words - learn basic math.

And no it won't. Not by a long shot.

I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.

Grats to WoW for 7 years of biggest sub based MMO, even if it finally has gone over the hill. If I made a MMO I would be very proud of that, despite the haters, but WoW devs need to show more passion in WoW again.

What exactly does ToR have that makes it so much better than WoW? Voice acting? Big whoop. Better graphics? Well most adults realize that graphics don't exactly mean everything. After playing the Beta is was like WoW with lasers and lightsabers with the races from Rift but to a even more extreme level where each race literally has the same body with the heads being the only things different (aka lazy ass model devs).

I feel the same exact way after playing the beta. I couldn't stand it after 2 hours and uninstalled the game. If I wanted to play WoW, I'd reactivate my account that I cancelled in 2009.

Don't forget ad nauseam.  Doesn't matter if it's true or not, as long as they repeat it often enough.
