I agree it really pisses me off removing the death penalty,it's the start of dumbing down Vanguard. Having played since release and done all major top level content on 4 characters each level 55 this new content is a god send.

i think soe are using some poor strategy making the game easier and giving some updates trying to hold the few fellows subscribed  cos swtor is just 1 month away and they will leave VG for sure

edit: note i said i think, as in opinion

Nah many will stay with Vanguard, swtor really is kiddy play compared to Vanguard.

Vanguard and Swtor are very different games. The only simialrity is that they are both quest based themepark MMOS. I don't see how VG has anything to worry from SWTOR when the only thing it should worry about is its own low player base.

I honestly dont know what vanguard you guys played or how anyone could ever consider this a "hardcore" game. Its always been easy to level, it was never meant to be as frustrating and annoying as eq1. The leveling rate was adjusted long ago to make it on par with games like wow. Between rested exp,exp potions, quest exp, crazy group exp,and frequent double exp events it is very easy to level adventuring to 51. I could understand making crafting or diplo easier as they are just a grindfest outside the very few "artisan saga" type questlines.

    The games biggest issues remain:

    1.Low population

2.Mass bugs(yes the fixed a ton,no none are game breaking but there are still a ridiculous amount and it does detract from the game on a substantial level)

3.Poor performance(yes its a ton better than release, yes if you have a super rig you can overpower most the problems, no it isnt close to where it should be)

4.Horrible grindfest for crafting and diplo due to few and infrequent questlines

5.Lack of progression and content at max level due to lack of support from $oe(especially non raid content)

    6. Uncertain future and constant mishandling from $oe

There is really no hope for this game! They had there chance to make the necessary improvements, why do it now.

MMORPGs aren't easy, You're just too PRO!

For those having an issue with the xp increase...did we all suddenly forget that really annoying skill you get at like level 2 that lets you turn xp off?  So...the xp gain WON'T bother you at all if you just use that you know.  But me?  I like to solo a LOT of my levels and  I need this xp boost to stay subbed for more than a month this time.

Because WoW makes an insane amount of money, plain and simple.

See SOE you are screwing up already. Look at all the people who would be happy to spend money at your cash shop for exp and rez potions. Do we really need every MMO to be WoW-washed?

People aren't playing Vanguard because it's too hard. They aren't playing due to a horrid launch (normal for that time though), and total lack for support by SOE. Why would people play if they felt the game had no future?

SOE bought Vanguard to keep if from competing with EQ2. Since that isn't a problem anymore, they are going to dumb it down and cash shop it for the masses, and milk it for all they can.

It's a shame Vanguard isn't run by a better company.

Not played becuase of 2 reasons, horid start is not the word i would use several stronger words than that. When it was patched it fixed 1 thing and broke several others, then if it was a questline that same questline would be bugged only 2 or 3 quests further in. Then there was lack of support, interest in the players started to dwindle. To me it felt like SoE was fully pulling the strings, only 3 months after i left they aquired the game (as if they didnt already have full control anyways), say what you want but thats my opinion and i will stick with that.

Have been back 1 time (2nd anniversary) that gave a 14 days free play, no community (or nobody replied), raid comming through buildings (much like the old TV channels when they go off air) with teh black and grey dot things all over the screen. Not even taking cover in a cave stopped it. Saw 2 players and 1 other in chat (and s/he was being an ass at that). The cards you got were all doubling up (duplicating) to 2 or some even had 3 identicle (heqard that was still apparent too as well as a few other bugs.

SoE has not worked on the game in years, are they trying to revive it or keep what little playerbase they have left in the game before new ones come out. Who knows but if they had taken teh game offline to fix it when they aquired it, it may have gone alot better. Doubt i will even touch it, especially after they had been hacked (and yes i had 2 or 3 diff accounts) of which i did redo 2 of them with teh passwords, that in itself says their security sucks.

Good luck to VG.  Great game with a different feel to it.  Enjoyed playing it at launch, and will play some more if they launch as a Free to play title.

SOE's experiment with F2P must be very very good for them to want to bring this to Vanguard. They have ignored this game for a long time and now they are finally paying it some attention. Well F2P will definitely boost its population and may be this diamond in the rough will finally have a chance to dazzle.

ffs, now there is a real reason to get back into L2 *AND* vg! (and, depending on how people receive the winter exp, Eve)  for once my problem is that there are too many games to retry rather than there not being a game worth getting into.

l2 "asked first" so i'll try them first tho :  If i can't get back into it, then VG.

So you'd miss out on playing the best MMORPG on the market because you have a personal vendetta against the game/developers?  They could care less about one customer's personal boycot.  You're just hurting yourself.

It's encouraging to watch the resurrection of a once-DOA game.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

I don't know if we can call it a resurrection because VG has always been up and running. It might get them few more players though but nothing major. They really need to go F2P model for this.

Resurrection lol,you only resurrect something if it's dead,Vanguard has been alive and kicking since release. Yeah it's down to two servers and the Halgar european server is all very low populated but it sure aint dead unless my four 55 character and guild have not been playing Vanguard for 4.5 years.

Telon has a decent population and many strong guilds still playing the game. Logging in will seem quiet but most are top end and have many atls.

Get in a good guild and it don't matter how many people are on the server.

FTP model, hmm i really don't know if that will work. Remember that Vanguard has open dungeons and many avenues of progression. If it went FTP it could not be along the same lines as EQ2X,it would have to be the same as the new FTP system coming to EQ2X.

It's a vast game and we who have stuck with it do not want to see it dumbed down. Yeah we can take the scaling back of the death penaulty and faster xp.

XP does not really matter because you can control how much xp you get anyway so that's okay.

Well, to me "DOA" is determined more by launch quality (yes, looking at you AoC) and the outlook six months to a year after (looking at you WAR).

VG never "scored" significantly, despite the pree-launch hype and some really impressive (at the time) graphics.

Points for persistence, at least.  Most companies would have cut staff to the bone and went F2P a long time earlier.

That's why it's encouraging that they're still trying to "make it".  EVE showed what a game with a bad launch but dedicated Devs could accomplish, they kept confidence up and kept working and it turned into a much more successful game.

Wish more companies showed faith in their people and ideas.
