I guess you read that email wrong. If its the same email most people gotten already, it sais the early access Starts 13th. Not everyone gets into that. The earlier you register your Pre Access Key, the sooner you get to play. And since you said u pre-ordered a few days ago, I would guess you only get a day or three pre access.

    But, I might be wrong.

Hope you get in on the 13th.

I remeber the starting day in World of  Warcraft.. everyone in same starting area massive lag. everyone trying to do the same quest.

maybe they want to load the different areas up with what they hope will be a means to prevent the lagging.

Other thing is like the starting area suddenly have 300 players all login at the same time and doing the same quest. think about it.  The quest items and the npc mobs will have to respawn or you will be standing there waiting forever.

other problem i see with this is.. well some people want to play now.. and they did pay 5 dollars to get in early access.

next and best, people who or starting on open day .. they will be the ones to enjoy a game with a lot less lag at least i think that is what they are hoping for.

From what I get when I read that, it means they will start sending emails out on the 13th until the 15th letting the people that did pre-order get in game on and between the 13th to the 15th. You will receive an email in order which you redeeemed your game code.

Same, the way I read it is that they will start sending the email out telling you when you can play on the 13th, not that some will be able to play on the 13th... I see it as the 15th will still be the earliest anyone will be aloud to play, just people will start getting info email about it on the 13th..

Hope I am wrong though and it has moves up to the 13th..

I am happy and sad at the same time. I ordered the game back at the end of august but Origin did not send me my pre-order code to put into the website. I had to call them and ask for the code back in early november and they finally sent it to me. Sucks I probably wont get in on the 13th because origin screwed up and did not send me the code they were supposed to.

    The whole post:

    Hello everyone,

We're happy to finally announce today that Early Game Access begins December 13th, 2011. This means that everyone who has pre-ordered Star Wars: The Old Republic and redeemed their pre-order code will have up to seven days to play the game early.

As before, when your Early Game Access begins will be determined based on when you redeemed your pre-order code. You will be emailed on the day you are being admitted to Early Game Access to confirm you can now access the game.

Early Game Access was extended to seven days to allow us to gradually ramp up the number of people in the game over a longer period. This allows us to ensure maximum stability and a good population across servers. It also allows us to have more flexibility on exactly how many people we admit per day.

With that said, we're still planning on allowing a large number of people into Early Game Access on a daily basis. In our final Beta Testing Weekends, we had hundreds of thousands of players on the game servers - and we have additional server capacity for launch. However, we still need to remain flexible during Early Game Access, and this led to the decision to notify people on the day that their Early Game Access begins.

We know many of you expected and wanted advance notice on Early Game Access, but we made this decision to ensure that we could remain flexible and react to unforseen issues during launch. Our number one priority has always been a smooth launch, so this decision was a necessity.

The good news is that effectively everyone is being given two 'extra bonus' days as the EGA program is now up to seven days long. The bad news is unfortunately we cannot let people know on an individual basis when they will gain access until we are ready.

We do understand that you are concerned about when you will receive the email. To save your F5 keys, as well as being notified by email, you will also be able to check the Launcher for Star Wars: The Old Republic. When you have been granted Early Game Access, your Play button will be enabled. (You will need to restart the Launcher on occasion if you're still grey.) Finally, you will be able to login to your account page here on SWTOR.com and check your status.

We absolutely understand (and appreciate!) everyone's eagerness to play, but this plan will ensure that we don't fall at the final hurdle - bringing people into the game at launch. We hope you'll bear with us as we gradually grant Early Game Access to everyone who pre-ordered.

I decided not to buy the game as soon as i heard about the way the were going to handle the early access. The way they force the mmorpg community to rush into this thing only makes sure that during the first days, the game will be filled up with the worst part of the wow community.

Too bad there isn't going to be a grace period after the official lauch of the game.  There will be many of us waiting for our copy of the game in the mail and we'll be booted out of the game for at least a couple days.

Hopefully EA will let companies such as Amazon ship a couple days prior to the 20th.

From what I have seen all the problems are with the pre-order codes came from the digital side of things. I recieved my e-mail at around 2pm cst stating pre-order had started and went to the store 40 miles away to get the CE and got my code right there. Got home and entered my code and recieved the confirmation e-mail at 4:42 pm cst. Don't know about how other feel about this, but I want a physical copy of everything I buy. Unless they stop making them I will not get anything as a digital copy. If your comp dies you have to enter your codes and get the whole download again while a dvd is just popped in and your up and running again in a few minutes compared to maybe hours or days depending on the connection. Some people like digital, others feel the way I do. In the end it's all about them selling as much as possible. And as for people canceling because of the way they are doing it, why did you order in the first place when ,IF you can read, this is what they said would happen all along. I'm just happy they bumped it up a couple of days.

Soooooooo, just open and close the launcher until your play button lights up?

That's deffinately going to ensure a smooth launch right there.  This, of course, iscombined with the whole grace period/no grace period fiasco currently going on within the official forums.

Canceling your guild cous of this? That makes you a veeery bad Guild leader, poor memebers. And if something like this can make you flee from the game, then you doomed the game already, before this news

We have a winner. Bioware needs to spread out the load to insure a good play experience. If the estimates are correct, Bioware needs to deal with over 2.5 million users hitting the servers in a short window. Spreading that out is top priority.

What?  I really do not understand why people like to post about how they are punishing themselves because they are upset over a minor detail thinking that it hurts anyone but themselves.  Of course I also never actually believe it anyway.....

  • tristantristan Member UncommonPosts: 13

I agree with zymurgeist and catlana, this makes sense if you think about 2-3 million people trying to access the game exactly at the same time, same playing zones, etc... Bioware needs to spread this out somehow, and early access is a very smart way to do it, specially rewarding those players who preordered soon enough.

2 days are nothing in a MMORPG game, hardcore guilds and players will probaby overtake that little advantage, and organization is obviously more important than these 2 days.

From my point of view, well done Bioware, very well planned.

I'm fine with it all apart from not being informed until the day we get the access. It comes over a bit unorganised and i won't be waiting in to see whether they'll let me play or not.

  • MrG8MrG8 Member UncommonPosts: 111

image My friend here also cancelled his order because he really wanted to play in the pre-access.. He's really sad.. He said he will now wait for another MMO.. :(

lol, you gave me a vision of people sitting at their pc's waiting for that email for the next 10 days, and I wont be suprised that there will be some hardcore sitters doing just that.

    agreed there.

not sure why anyone would be raging for not getting into some early mode. it's like showing up to a club and being told uh-uh, you have to wait your turn because you're not really friends with the owner like you lied.

Either you and your guild are total losers or  you are a good troll :-) look how many answers you have collected.

I think that early game access is the best solution against overcrowded servers at launch ever. If you were more interested in the game - you would get your early access, not to mention you woulndn't cancel the game because of it.  Obviously you are not interested in the game at all... or you just troll  (makes a rime: at all - troll - lol).
