Well, I guess we both know I have absolutely nothing to fear then, don't I?
Care to step in FFA zone? or roll on PVP server?
FFA zone on a PVP server... almost choked on my brekky for laughing
Too bad you didn't actually choke and had a seizure ;(
Guess someone didn't read OR. And yes there is a FFA zone where you can kill your allies. Got to play it before you feel like knocking it down.
i guess you didnt spot the irony.. they have to have a FFA zone on a PVP server... like you still need to get permission to fight someone, no don't stand there, stand there so i can shoot you!!!

Difference between FFA zone and PVP server is self explanatory. in FFA zone you can kill your own ally while out of it only opposite faction. No you don't need permission to kill anyone atleast not in Outlaws Den.
How many servers SWTOR will launch with on release?
ShredderSE - Umm how many do they need? Maybe 6. US, EU, Asian, France, German and Russian. Subs will be so low there is no need for more Snoocky-How many servers? The first 3 months a lot...after that 2 i guess, one for PVE and 1 for PVP...

Personally I find it more ironic that there exists people who post more on the game(s) they dislike and have little interest in its gameplay than on the game(s) they claim to like and are interested in, that's some fine irony
As for the FFA PvP, that's iirc more than MMO's like WoW and GW2 have.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

lol.. once again we have smugglers who can't smuggle, and bounty hunters who can't 'bounty... just call it as it is.. a couple of guys with lame pistols, but at least the imperial agent can infiltrate and do intelligence gathering right
Thing is with the BH class being aligned on a specific faction, there's no way to add lpayer bounties without any major changes to the game.
Now for smuggliing until we have 3d multiplayer space combat they can't add this in a nicely fashion.
Well ... aside from the bugs .. SWG had more MMO in MMORPG then swtor ever will.
SWG --> make the story
SWTOR --> follow the story
Some like apples, others like oranges.
The only way your post makes any sense is if you think sandbox = MMO, and themepark =/= MMO. If that is the case, the industry and the mass market both disagree with you.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.
Sadly though, we are going from "choice" to "no choice" and rails.. I just wish there was a happy medium... at least make some of the higher level planets sandbox like and leave the starter planets on rails.... The space combat is so cheesy i think they just added it to come back to later as they couldnt chase 2 rabbits at once and would probably want to really focus on this subject after the main game was launched... i hope....
You have a choice of buying the game or not. The upset swg players shouldn't spend a penny on swtor nor a second of their time.

The SWG I loved died a long time ago at the launch of NGE. But to those who stuck with it and enjoyed the game after, you have my sympathies for your loss.
SWG was a mixed bag. There were moments in SWG just as or more intense than any other game for me. There was also an abundance of tedium. The game let you do so many things, but there were some annoying bugs. The community also was a mixed bag, just like real life.
I will always miss the old game, but now a lot of time has passed.

You are correct, i expressed myself wrong.
I maybe should have said for me SWG felt like a game much more suited for MMO, whereas i would have prefered swtor to be a singleplayer with coop. In SWG you needed players to make the game, in tor the players often ruined my game (my experiences from beta).
Obviously, i like oranges
I will still play TOR though. Global chat turned off .. enjoy the story to level 50 with my main character .. then hook up with others.
My alt is for my group of RL friends ... so I do expect a lot of enjoyment.

I would agree that original SWG was a mixed bag. Very ambitious, most interesting skill system I've ever seen in a MMO, but riddled with tons of bugs, and pitifully incomplete. Post NGE SWG wasn't mixed though, unless you mean it was a slurry of Bantha poo and Dewback vomit, rather than just one or the other.

Yeah, TOR is definitely going to be a game where it helps to play with friends or a like-minded guild if you want to take advantage of the group elements, because a lot of PUGs will probably be full of WoW-Tards trying to spacebar past all the meaningful content.

About space bar, during the beta, after my second testing week-end I surprised mylself already starting skipping the V.O.

It's one thing to spacebar past content you've already seen, it's another thing entirely to spacebar through "new to you" content or to expect people you are grouped with to spacebar through content they haven't experienced yet.

Star Wars Galaxies will be known for the NGE debacle more then anything else... A cautionary tale of what happens when you screw over your core player base.

You know the game would have recovered if the NGE was polished and finished. For example a Battle Front-y MMO would have done the trick. But it was even worse than the Pre-cU and the CU.
I played the game from release till the launch of the NGE. I enjoyed my time there, but I wish SOE had listened to it's customers.
You and me both. I played that game at time of release and was hooked immediately. I loved that game until they kept messing with it and than SOE ignored all us players and they thought they knew better. Thats why they are closing one game after another and taking the ones with some success and turning them into F2P. SOE you should listen to your customers. over 200k signatures asking no pleading you to not change the game actually does mean something.

There was no fixing SWG. It launched with engine problems, and without those being resolved, it was simply trying to build a mess on a bigger mess.
I have no clue why they simply didnt use the game engine from EQ, and then add whatever systems they wanted. EQ had the Z axis, and you could swim. Sounds like a great starting point to me.
Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

I guess I dont understand what is to be gained by camping on a game's forum that you dont even like. I sure wouldnt go over to the WOD boards, and proceed to tell the fans daily that sandboxes suck. Yet there are several posters here that have done that very thing for quite a while now. Some for a year or more.
Not to say that legitimate discussions never occur from them. Sadly though, it is more likely to be "Wah we want a sandbox" in whatever flavor they present for the day. They add nothing of value to this forum, and quite frankly, it would be nice if they would STFU.
I have seen it mentioned for a long time that these folks were "owed a new sandbox". No they werent, and their sense of entitlement is pretty pathetic.
I wont even get into the GW2 drones.....D3 is gonna kick that games ass up and down the street.

I played SWG heavily from launch day until the NGE, and even returned a few times during that. Pre-CU is my favorite period in 23 years of gaming. I loved the idea of fully non-combat classes, creature handling, space flight sim, and player cities/economy. I doubt a progressive game like SWG will ever come again. The community was highly social and best one I've every played in.
I was able to play in 4 betas of SW:TOR and while it is totally different being a themepark style MMO, I do enjoy it. The class stories, setting, art style, and fluidity of combat really stand out to me. With frequent updates and additions to the game it has a lot of potential. I wouldn't be suprised if in years to come it matched or exceeded WoW at its peak.
I think it is going to be cruel to the SWG player base when this game takes a nosedive. They may as well have stayed open for the just in case scenario.

I would not pay SWTOR even if you paid me $5 an hour. Maybe $10 an hour though that would definitely be worth it :-)
RIP SWG.

Looking forward to getting in and playing early release! Only thing that would keep my attention off of this is Planetside 2.
I think SWG came before it's time, because a graphically enhanced pre combat upgrade Star Wars game is just want the MMO scape needs right now.
SWTOR is ok, but I can't help but feel when I played it, that it doesn't have half the 'soul' of SWG, if that makes sense.
RIP SWG
