Wow thats crazy man. I played the last beta weekend and i dont remember what level i was, somewhere between 12-14 and i only got 3 levels in a span of 7 hours. haha

Heh , only thing I'll say about this is that they give a selected few a head start (over a week head start). Now I don't care much for TOR , but honestly , they should of opened up the servers at the due release date. Giving some people a 2 week head start will most likely screw the economy by the time the games is officially launched , will most likely to have some camped areas so the newbies will have a harder time to advance. If the game does have over a 100 servers why not just release it now and end this fiasco?
I don't know , was never a fan of head starts , it's a dumb idea. The best way to rage your fan base. Head jobs is a different story though. :P
P.S.: STO only had a 2 day head start which is reasonable , but besides it took a week to reach End Game without even trying, so everyones happy :P. I just hope all the TOR fans out there that have been waitting for years won't reach most of the End Game within a month , otherwise , meh. More rage I guess hehe. :P
He is at lvl 13 now and did not skip the dialogue.
Plays 5? hours now?
It seems ok but he said he might try to get to lvl 25 today? ... crazy gamers
Thanks for the link! I was hoping someone was streaming, or someone posted some videos today to keep me busy since I won't be playing til after the 20th, and I'm off today doing nothing. lol
As to OP: I don't really care if they increased the xp needed to level in the starter areas, as in the link provided above, the guy is level 14 at 7 hours and 16 minutes or so, which really isn't bad at all. Tha's having done everything and watched all the cutscenes. I personally plan to do every quest I see, and listen to all the dialogue on my first character at least, so it should take quite a while to level regardless of the change in xp curve.
However, just because it's easier to level at the beginning doesn't mean they haven't changed anything in the later game... maybe they increased the amount needed for later levels in order to keep the leveling speed roughly the same overall?
I doubt it, but still. Honestly, WoW had people to level 60 while I was only level 12 after launch, and I played from launch day (as best I could anyway lol) so some people are going to rush, and some people aren't. Just remember: whether people rush or not, they really have no bearing whatsoever in how much fun you have while playing, or how long you take to level. They DO NO MATTER. When you catch up to 50 eventually, THEN they can matter, and you can start joining these people for flashpoints and such, but that's it. People need to stop putting so much thought into what other people are doing.
I know they said they increases XP from 1-10, as alot of people were leaving the starter planet at lvl 8. Also, what others said... they could be beta testers that already did the quests a billion times. 15th level is possible.
Heres some perspective, on my server (which has been high - full) I am level 12, I got in this morning at 7 EST.
I've played all the way through and am on coruscant now.
I ended up doing all of the content on Tython (I started a smuggler but won't play until my group gets on - smuggler is my main) - as a jedi knight (and went sentinel)
When I left the starter planet and got onto the republic spacestation, there were 6 other people there.. all of which were running about grabbing their crafting abilities.
I didn't speed through the gameplay in the least, and yet, trying to find a team for Esseles took about 20 minutes while I waited in a PvP queue, checked out some vendors, and gathered and crafted.
Once I was on Coruscant, I ran around, and there were a few 15s... and I even saw a 17, but they really were rushing the content, not doing any group content, and not doing anything other than PvE. In other words, they were grinding it out.. which is fun for some ... but I can only imagine how lonely it is at the top right now when leveling at a moderate - advance pace (because I've played most of this content before) leaves me with little grouping and less social interaction.
I'm actually going to log out for a bit and wait for the player base to catch up -- or wait until my friends get let in later today (if they do get in). Otherwise I'll be stuck at the top with PvE'ers who don't want to group and want to rush, or hoping there are enough players my speed to get the content done I want to do.

In beta, I just skipped all the side quests entirely. Took my time with the main quest, killing plenty of mobs along the way, still hit Dormund Kaas at level 9. Had no idea I was doing anything "wrong."
A better fix would have been some contextual indication that it might be important to do the side quests, but I guess this was a last minute bandaid fix.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

I don't think it was a matter of doing anything wrong. My experience was, if I did all everything but the heroic stuff, I was solidly in level 8. If I did the heroics, I got to level 10. Sounds like they changed it to where you can hit level 10 with most of the single player content.
I've been playing since about 10:30 CST, and I just hit level 13. Seems about right given what I remember from beta. I may be a bit ahead of schedule since I've already been through this content once before though.
There will be 50's tommorow if not tonight. It only takes 30-50 hours to max your character. This has been the case for many months in beta. There was a long running thread on the beta forums about the super fast speed of leveling. I am not sure why people are surprised now?
Friend says he is seeing level 15's in game already. People are going to chew through the content fast at this rate. Good or bad in your opinion?
They increased the XP for the starter worlds, because too many people were whining about having to struggle to get to level 10 with the available quests.
I'm not a big fan of them doing this, personally. Most of the people complaining just failed to do bonus quests or would stealth their way through mobs to avoid fighting on the way to their objectives.
That's funny. Whenever I beta tested, I always hit 10 on all of my characters, no matter what, when I was ready to do the last part of the quest to leave the starter planet. It happened without fail, no matter what I did. My guess is people were grouping for every single thing, and adding on top of that, probably skipping quests. Probably the ones whining are the ones worried about hitting end game first and trying all of the old tricks to get there quicker. Like someone mentioned before, in this game, you are MEANT to stop and smell the roses. Literally, stop. Smell the roses. Decide if you want to crush them or not (light side/ dark side points).

It's always like this. There will be people max level on the first day in any game. I remember two friends who alternated shifts to play 24 hours on 1 character when Diablo 2 released.
They did up the XP for the starter worlds in the last beta build. Getting to level 10 is not a problem, but people didn't know that they should be level 10 before leaving the starter planet. It was a bigger problem during the stress test, because so many mobs were already killed by others, people could just walk to quest objectives without fighting anything. This caused many people to miss the AC quest giver and people didn't know how to get their AC once they got to 10. They could have level locked the shuttle leaving the planet, but then people would have complained about being forced to grind.
Plus, there are people that have been playing in beta for nearly a year, and know the best ways to level quickly.
Why not just give players a quest at level 3, that says something like go see your AC trainer at level 10? Then it wouldn't matter if they left the planet, because they'd simply know to go back when they were 10. Such an odd oversight, when you think about it, and makes me wonder what other blatantly obvious issues they might not have dealt with, if they failed to fix a ridiculous issue like this right on the starter worlds.

Because that makes it mechanical rather than part of the story line. That would take away from the "immersion", as many would say.

I didn't mean put it exactly like that LOL :P
I'm sure they could figure out a way to work it into the story immersively enough...

Why do you care Teala? You've already said you hate the game, it's the worst thing to happen to MMO's in recent history, and you have no intention on playing.
So is this just a bait thread?
To answer the topic... I've been playing since early beta. They've tweaked the XP up and down multiple times, but XP gain seems pretty consistent with the way it was for the past 2-3 months. So no, I don't think they've increased it just for launch.
Yes there are level 15's in the game (actually by the time of this writing, 20's and 30's and even a 50). But don't quote the exception as the rule. For every 1 level 15, there are a hundred level 1-5's.

Extremely bad.
Once people are done with the story content they will leave in droves.
SWTOR simply isn't a strong enough MMO title to hold anyone without the Voice overs and Good/Evil alignment system.

Looking forward to: Nothing

Think positive man.

All games have quick leveling at the beginning. Then the leveling curve starts to kick in. It slows down in this game later on.
You have heard of leveling curve haven't you? Or experienced it in another mmo? Do you play MMOs?

No..not yet and UI is still fixed, meaning no player allowed tweaking.
Supposedly there are level 30s and maybe some 40s...using a bug in PvP. The mods have already commented.

These are the same people who will be on the forums complaining there is nothing to do in SWtor because they no lifed it for the first 50 hours.
