The point of life is to create more life and perpetuate the human race.  Remember, if a big animal had the chance, it wouldn't take a second glance, IT WOULD EAT YOU UP!!!!

yes but eventually those big animals would eat everybody up so then we would all die!!!

Actually I think the point of life is have fun with it while you have it. Thats my few words.

I think it's the objective of your past self to make you cringe.

    simple,

humans keep breeding, technology moves forward (some evolution occurs) and we end up creating a means of immortality. ask the question again when we get to that stage

To serve our purpose and then die. I am not a big fan of fate or god so I believe that the human animalistic instinct to live is what keeps us going.

This is a blatantly obvious pseudo-philosophical thread. Life's goal is to perpetuate the human race. Spread your genes far and wide. No more, no less.

Yes but would you rather die skydiving, or sitting around bitching about whether life has a true purpose or not?

I think the point of life is to find your own point, if you just want to set there and ponder what the point of life is than maybe that is the point of your life, to think about such things.

As for reproducing and such , I don't know, I really don't think we need any more humans, way too many if you ask me, I would like to see the World destroyed as I die, I don't want the human race to continue on without me, you know screw the future I am more concerned with myself. lol

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

Have you ever heard the saying: A chicken is an eggs way of making another egg.

Well that's it.  There is no point to your life.  You are merely a vehicle to facilitate genetic replication.  And if it weren't for all the selfish competition things would never have gotten so complicated to produce rats and elephants and human beings.  If it weren't for the selfish competition all life would probably still be simple, single celled critters and no one would be asking silly questions like, "What is the meaning of life?"

The point is to be happy until the day you die.  If you're unhappy until the day you die, you just went over the whole point. image

Man, if you have difficulty in finding a point to life, I think you may need some serious counseling. I think the whole point is that we are a part of the cycle of life. Whether or not there is something after death should not affect the fact that we should enjoy life, our family, our friends.

  • arvainisarvainis Member Posts: 548

Well you're probably an atheist if you think this (I would guess??) and then there is no meaning of life except do whatever you please.  For those that believe in some supreme being then we know that answer already.  On a side note...

What really bugs me is there are so many questions I have I'll never get answered before I die.

Humans major difference with animals is that we realise our mortality and carry on anyway.

Whats the point of living ?

For mine... its to try and do as much with the time you have in every way you can.

Suicide is a completely bizarre thing to do simply because you will end up dead anyway. Even living a life you think is completely miserable is an experience and one day it will be over.

My very best friend died of a heroin overdose on the couch of another buddies house while I was out of town some years back. There isnt a day goes by that I dont think of him and everytime I do something good in life I curse him for not being around to share it with me.image

But he made his decisions...........like we all do.......

I see it all as being a lot like a game.... take it far as you possibly can.... because you cant re-roll your character and there is perma death image

If you are asking for an answer you do not understand the question.

Live life as if you'll die tomorrow.  Love as if you'll love forever.

As far as death is concerned, I wanna die peacefuly and asleep like my grandfather did...not awake and screaming like the passengers in his car.

If there was no purpose for life, we wouldn't be here right now.  Everything happens for purpose or reason(be they good or bad), and the simple fact that we as humans exist is a testament to some reason/purpose we have yet to discover.

So until that happens, I'm gonna light up a Marlboro, sip my Heinekin, hug my daughter, kiss my girl, and cherish my friends and family until the day that I die, and not worry about why i'm doing all of it.

Im not asking for an answer

You said you knew the answer...

Im assuming when you said "we" you included yourself...

I have no interest in seeking the "supreme being" interpretation of the answer to all things. Im just curious as to what your particular jewel of wisdom is.

Well since we all approach life differently and believe (or not believe) in a"God" in our own way each persons view on the point of life is different.  I live my life by the Golden Rule.  I try to help out others in the hope that they will do the same to others.  On the other hand it is somewhat greedy as part of me thinks that helping others will guarantee my place in heaven so I really haven't attained a true belief yet.  Kind of like Constantine when Gabriel told him something along the lines of "You know but you do not believe."  I know (you can argue that I don't know) that there must be something else for us out there.  Yet I do not fully believe in what it is.  So at this point in my life my point is to help others so they may guarantee my spot in heaven, even though I know it's wrong.  Plus I just like the feeling that perhaps that person will remember what i did for them although in many cases what I do is anonymous anyways.  Blah a whole profile on my religious views lol

We only die because we choose to accept it as an inevitability.

Just on the border of your waking mind
    There lies another time
Where darkness and light are one,
And as you tread the halls of sanity,
You feel so glad to be unable to go beyond.
I have a message from another time...

Thanks for that link Razor, bookmarked for reading at a later date image  My problem with religion is what man has done to it. The wars, greed, lust for power, etc is what drives me away and makes me doubt my beliefs.  But I guess in the end life is what you make it.  If you make it pointless then yes all you are going to do is live and die.  If you live for something else (a higher power, god, etc), die and find nothing lese exists then what did you lose?
