Is this a Joke RIght OP?, it should be after this ¨Music Sux¨. I have a Jedi Guardian 48, swtor is the best MMO that i have played in my life as a gamer and probably it will be the nº1 in the market soon or later, WoW have 7 years of expansions and Patch, Swtor just 15 days or less.
i played wow for a long time. i liked it. but i am over it. simple as that.... the game has been (or maybe always was) over run by rude asian gold farmers and its just a grind. plus i am sick of the dark/fantasy ages
swtor is a fine game. neither better nor worse than wow ...its just different. either you are into it or not.
every time i see some "hater" going on and on about swtor and how wow is so much better, it makes me think that some gold farmer is afraid that they will lose their income from scamming people who have moved on to another game.
wow had its day. it was a great game. there have been many that were successfull like everquest, city of heroes, guild wars... even star wars galaxies before smedley destroyed the game trying to port it into a console game (frankly, i feel that he made dc universe was basically NGE style from the start and it still failed.... pc gamers and console gamers are just simple 2 different types of players and they dont mix well..... but that is another discussion.
anyways... my point? i think i made my point. i have played many games. some good, some bad. wow was good in its day .i have deleted my characters and moved on. my game of choice currently is swtor. i am no star wars fan boi (although i did see the movies once)... its a solid, classic mmo and i am enjoying it.
if you want my review of the game? its simple....
good game. classic mmo. very involved community. few bugs. really interesting story if you stop rushing levels and actually make decisions. first dozen levels are annoying a little just because they are in every game. life is better when you get your speeder at 25 lol
anyways... so that is that. i am glad i paid for swtor and i have decided to subscribe. no hate needed or wanted. i am sick of hearing about wow vs star wars...
i have fond memories of wow... its like an ex girlfriend... she was fun while it lasted, but it got old, and its time for something new. the more trash talk i hear about my "new toy" (swtor), only makes me resent my old toy (wow, coh, swg, etc. take your pick... i have played them all.) i am into a game for a few years and then i move on to something new. thats how it works... these games have a life cycle. 3-5 years tops. wow was unusual that it lasted so long and probably would have lasted if not for southpark and gold farmers that make up 75% of its user base
www.insomniacsbar.com (my little bar that i own in florida)
i would literally hang myself from my balcony before playing wow.
Swtor is not a perfect mmo, matter of fact there are many things that need addressing as soon as possible. but it is a very very fun game. i don't ever remember having such a good time in wow, in fact the wow general barren chat was enough to discourage even the most patient person on the planet.
in swtor rerolling a new character is actually fun. i suggest you all , to try playing with a friend all the time, and you will see you won't regret it. ofcourse if all you do is solo and play the game as a single player game. you wont enjoy it.
I already resubbed back to WoW. It is nice to be back in a world where there is real explorationa nd immersion is done right. Guess I'll be playing this until Guild Wars 2 releases.
Nothing wrong with WoW but "real exploration?".
Exploration is very cool in mmos.I was in swtor i saw a big huge dessert thing and while i was walking to do my exploration a message poped up telling me "you are in exaustion zone turn back now" while i was loosing life. When i saw this message i said seriously i cant explore wtf?
Then i started getting really f...ed up.I couldn't believe this was happening.I like the sw theme but the game is not an mmo.
It's a single player game with a feeling that u play with other players and the game is not open but u jump from instance to instance.
Fatigue bar in WoW. You must be getting really f...ed up while playing it. Lol.
There is a huge difference. In SWTOR you get fatigued by walking lol in a desert (using his example). This doesn't make sense at all as you shouldn't die from exhaustion caused by walking (you can always rest).
In WoW you also get exhaused but only when you swim for example in the ocean which makes sense of course. WoW has no invisible boundaries. Of course if you swim in the ocean for 10 hours you will get fatigued but there's no way you can rest or stop and you drown.
You can swim for the rest of eternity as long as you are not in the "no invisible boundaries" fatigue zone. So it would seem that there's "huge difference" as long as the invisible boundaries are just water. Right.
I dont think TOR would be any better game if every playable zone was boxed by mountain ranges or oceans, and gladly bioware did either, I understand at the edge of the desert just as you understand at the edge of the ocean that there's nothing there except endless dunes and I cant go there because computer games are not unlimited.
Just a short note: The instancing is temporary during the launch to allow people to complete quests. It will go away within short.
No instancing is the game design, how the worlds are now wont magically change. The only difference is people wont be split over a few planets because the population will drop in the lower level planets, you still will be split when all the higher level zones become packed. You're already seeing no more split zones at lower levels because the population has dropped off there. It used to be 2 or 3 zones at like 90 players each and now it's 1 zone at like 70.
It is nothing to do with the game changing, it is the population spread changing. When the game is like 6 months old and every one is high level, you'll see the same thing happen to higher level zones where you'll be split over a few planets. That or because there is nothing to do but battlegrounds and Flashpoints, everyone will be be in the two main faction stations.
Since the cross server looking for a group system even though WoW has an extensive world it may just as well be an instanced game because these day very few people quest when leveling nor do you see much world pvp . Where as in ToR theres plenty of people doing both .
WoWs just an instanced raid grind for the majority of players now anyway .
Graphically dunno what the OP is on about ToR on full settings is far superior to WoW graphically . But I guess thats a matter of taste .
Anyway OP enjoy your return to WoW bet you don't stay more than a month or two though once you see how easy its become .
You'll soon be bored and return to ToR along with the rest of the planet .

Here is a small thing though. Not everyone likes TOR, hell a lot who bought it do not like it. Yes there are many who like TOR as well but to assume everyone will flow back is silly. How many went back to WAR, Aion, AoC and many other games that came out? Yeah not so many. Is WOW an easy mode joke yes but then so is TOR. There is nothing remotely difficult about it other than staying awake through the 500th cut scene and the millionth droid you shot with your blaster or slashed with your lightsaber. There are very few MMOs which provide an ounce of challenge in this day and age.
I don't think ToRs quite as easy as WoW . You can't go up one level per raid or battleground win . You have to return to the quest givers they dont just pop out of nowhere like they do in stv nowdays . I would prefer mmos in general to have a bit more challenge to them . I think WoW had it right in its first two years and no game since then has got it right in terms of difficulty and design . ToR is the best in a long time and had WoW maintained it quality then ToR couldn't have held a candle to it . As it is ToR is now the better game and will remain so untill they decide to base an expansion around something cute and fury .
Unfortunately, you will not be the only player that was beaten by the new shiney, and eventually even they too will see SWTOR for what it is and realize that SWTOR needs a ton of work to even get to the level that WoW or even Rift is right now. In time though, SWTOR might be as good as WoW. For now though, enjoy World of Warcraft...it truly is a great themepark game and delivers the goods.

LOL. SWTOR just came out and it already has systems and mechanics that surpass anything out. The mod system, for example, is way better than WOW's transmog, by far.

Today i was so upset to relised that swtor is mainly instanced game that i couldnt play it anymore. It took me 28 lvls to realise it becuase the story and voice acting had charmed me but after i started getting bored of the repeating same voice acting i started seeing what this game has to offer instead of vo.
It has to offer nothing music sucks worlds are empty graphics worse than wow on ultra no open world not alive world no real time weather night sunset etc nothing nothingggg.I cant believe they released such a game.It fails in every aspect and more over i had head aches of all the bluryness and filters on graphics they have thrown on it to cover the ugliness. The graphics are not clear so u can play 10 hours straight. You play 4 hours and u are done your eyes get tired.while in wow 10 months ago i was playing 17 hours and i didnt had a single problem.
So i fired up wow again in all my sadness cause i wanted to play an mmo these couple of days and to my surprise... holy shit! i have to say that the graphics on 1920x1080 ultra DX11 8x anti-aliasing look 5 times better than swtor and the performance fps is 100 times better than swtor.
When cataclysm was released dx 11 was not implemented and there were fps issues etc but now that there is dx 11 support the game just looks stunning and performs smoother than ever at 120 fps constant on 120 hz monitor.
Anyway seems like there is god these christmas.I ll be playing wow till diablo 3 releases it looks awesome that i cant believe they have done so much improvement with the dx 11 thing.Awesome work.
have a nice christmas guys i found the game to play till diablo 3
Thats a huge breath indeed.
Have fun with the swtor single player irc.I will play it as well when it will become free to play or better b2p.
Now lets all have a great 2012 year.
yeah I turned on wow too and HOLY SHIT IT WAS THE SAME AS I REMEMBER
But, you have to do either because you really WANT to. If you feel like you HAVE to, you should probably seek addiction help. I'm not currently playing SWTOR, but I plan to. If I don't like it, I will quit. But, I won't go back to WoW because I don't like SWTOR or any other game. I left WoW before Cata for a whole list of reasons. Those reasons have not changed, been remedied, or no longer matter. I made a choice to quit WoW. It doesn't have to be one game or the other.
look SWTOR graphics suck.. but they are 10 times better than wow LOL.. tho basically the same game just one is sci fi the other fantasy... both themepark junk..
Id like to thank the OP for making this thread. i was thinking about getting tor, but without a free trial i wasnt sure. Been looking for an MMO thats actually improved, if its going to be a WoW clone, might as well be an improved one. this one seems pretty terrible if it has cartoon gfx still and no open world. not to mention i dont trust games that dont offer a free trial and are based off of any kind of movie. i wont be playing wow though, way too easy for the lil kids now, also i dont agree with the direction the game is heading in both story and mechanics. ill probably wait for GW2 or Tera as they both seem equally appealing to me.

SWTOR is not really a WOW clone. It has similarities... but it also has a tone of ways in which it blows WOW out of the water. It's closer to Mass Effect than WOW though.

Lmao no, just no.
SWTOR is nothing like Mass Effect other than its dialogue wheel thing, which is more of a Bioware trademark than a Mass Effect thing. On the other hand, pretty much everything else is exactly like WoW.

I agree with that. WoW is a great game, no argument, but I like the variety I get with SWTOR, the Flash Points, Heroics etc. I have grouped more in a few weeks with SWTOR than I ever had in WoW. Don;t get me wrong, I played Wow since Beta, arguably the best game made to date, but times change as we all do. Nothing wrong with variety, it's the spice of life.

Honest question: what do you do in SWTOR at maximum level? If you think it'll be any better than WoW you are SORELY mistaken.
I am shocked that someone was let down by SWTOR and went back to WOW. Really, I am.

Why even get to max level in SWTOR? Just get to level 30 and keep leveling alts so you can take in the awesome story.

Fair enough OP, but although I don't much like either game if I was forced to play one at gunpoint, my choice sure as hell wouldn't be Wow.
