Seriously I am just waiting when there'll be an option to push a button for "auto-questing".
...
Well, there isn't any button that completes quests for you but if you played Forsaken World, there is a button that runs you automatically towards the quest. It works pretty good too, aka you don't get stuck and if you need to move to another zone via teleport travelling it runs you towards the appropriate NPC.
Going back on topic, my own personal issue with the system is that I prefer to know that I'm X distance from my goal and it will take me Y amount of effort to reach it (the actual amount is irrelevant). In this regard, I much better preferred the way Rift handled their PvP rewards than what SW:TOR is doing with theirs.
Oh and did I forget to mention a really wonderful feature in SWToR? You can turn off quest tracking entirely. A feature that I use almost exclusivly every moment I'm logged in the game! I absolutly hate being led around by the nose in a good of an explorable world as SWToR.
Only time I use the map or quest tracking is when I get in a group and need to find my team fast as possible...
Unlike most I actually do have a great deal of respect for my fellow gamers. I'm very social and have already grouped in this game more times than I did in 4 years of World of Wowcrock. My highest lvl character is 15 right now....All 16 of them!

Please tell me you are on an EU server, as i haven't even been able to speak to another person in days and have only managed a couple of groups since early access. I will literally re-roll just to have other players to play with, it's a fucking MMO for christ sake and no one on my server speaks. Half my guild have quit and it was by no means a pickup guild
I believe this has to do with that awful study about not always rewarding the person, but rewarding them on occasion. Possibly the worst scientific study in 30 years.
I agree, the RNG feature is a bit out of place I like to earn my stuff, knowing what I am working towards and have a clear calculated path towards that goal, whether it be DAOC rvr points or WoW Honor points. Surprise this is what you get never makes me feel comfortable irl or in a game lets take some examples:
Surprise the inlaws (if you like your inlaws just pass over this one and congratulations) are visiting NOW.
Surprise that auction on the street for the plastic bag didnt actually contain what you paid for.
Surprise pants dropped and there was a sausage.
Surprise it wasn't really free parking your car now has a warden ticket.
Surprise that coffee you are drinking isnt coffee.
Yea, i agree with the OP, they should give us all the bags and gear we need after doing one warzone...i dont wanna keep playing the game to get those im lazy...
No seriously stfu, i just hope other players dont come cry about that, or bioware will dumb the game even more, i dont want this to become wow all over again.

Come to Rubat Crystal (east coast) ohhh sorry you are on EU server? Can only imagine the pain. Try a standard rule RP server with a weird sounding name ... you might be surprised at the community on a rp server. They always tend to draw a more friendly more mature, relaxed kind of crowd because most of these juvenile delinquents think role playing is stupid. Ahhh where did humanity go wrong in robbing kids these days of thier once fantastic imaginations? but seriously all an RP server means nowdays is generally a lot more older gamers tend to gather on em.

Trying reading some of the answers would help you deliver a more educated answer. Asking for less randomness is not the same as asking for easier loot.
Right now you can get 1 bag and get one item out of it, or 10 bags and nothing, or worse, duplicates.
If this was an eastern MMO, there would be rioting in these forums, instead we get condensating comments like the one quoted.

Never played Forsaken World and now I know that I NEVER will.
That sound awful...
Well this is kinda symptom of a bigger overall problem with questing ,but well that's a topic for whole separate discussion.

THIS.
Well kinda it speaks that people have diffrent preferences.
I HATE knowing EXACTLY how long something will take ,how far I am ,etc - seem kinda boring to me.
Anyway - think mmorpg genre just need to differentiate approaches in mainstream mmorpg's between them.
Hopefully with WoW slow decline , there will NOT be next so big behemoth and mmropg's will be targetted for diffrent 'niches' and 'tastes' instead of all mmorpg's trying to cater to everyone.
Anyway - not playing SWTOR - so guess I will stop here as I don't really care what system is in Swtor tbh.
Well I do care a bit ,cause it might impact other games cause Swtor is big production , but on the other hand I hope that influence one mmorpg have on others will lessen in future , so maybe not...

Xas there are many folks who post things to get a rise out of people on mmorpg.com. Usually you have to sift out 75% of the back talk and rubbish to get to people who say something meaningful.
Lol, are you trying to act cool? It's not working.
This is not working for ones gear, this is working your ass of like a 6-18 job lol.
It's fine to make people work for their gear, especially the best gear, but RNG is not the way to do it.
1. Guy opens 5 bags and get 3 unassembled marks, and 6 centurion commendations.
2. Guy who opens his 5 get 15 centurion commendations.
Is the 1. guy a better player, have he earned it more than the 2. guy??
Has the 1. guy worked harder?
Not really, no.. If the PvP gear had a set price, it would be equal work to all, it could still be expensive and hard to get, but isn't it more fair for everyone?
I think so.
It is not really so strange, you can do 50 raids in Wow or EQ2 and get no gear whatsoever if you are unlucky.
MMOs aren't fair, GW2 is actually trying to be that and we will have to wait and see how that work, but spending many hours for gear have been a standard MMO thing at least since Everquest.
MMOs can't be fair as long as you have random loot and almost every single one of them have that, for the same reason gambling is fun.
How great would it be if all players of a new MMO were maxed out will the best gear in the game after a few weeks? And what would they do after that, the endgame in most MMOs is getting gear.
You missed the point, you are talking about PvE gear, obviously RNG, gear drop from a boss is fine, cause you are not competing against other players.
But when you make 1 way only to get gear with the 1 PvP stat in game, a RNG race, and then throw players of all lvl's and gear sets into the same match, then you have yourself a poor system.
As I said multiple times in this thread, I'm not against working for my gear, I'm against the RNG Hell.
There is no other way to get expertise gear, other than from those bags.
So that one lucky guy will destroy you while you're grinding your 20th bag for your first piece of gear, is that okay?
I don't think it is, which is the point of this thread.
Does the OP really complain you have to *gasp* work for getting the best PvP gear available in the game ?
Now thats a major offense for sure. Cant have that. We really need games that are just two BIG buttons on the screen, one reading "I win !" the other "I dont win... yet !". Everything less, come on, thats not cool.
Everyone that defended this RNG system is either extremely lucky and gotten their epic gear in their first few bags or haven't experienced the frustration first hand.
No one here is asking for a easier way to get gear through PVP. NO ONE wants a easier way. What is really frustrating isn't that its hard to get gear, its that a month from now, you might not even get a single gear.
Take this for an example, You just dinged 50, you started hardcore pvping, after 2 months you finally got lucky and received your Champion gear, then your Guildmate dinged 50 as you got your first gear, you showed him how to finish his dailies, because he never PVP in his life, he got his first 4 bags, he opened them, and there you go, 4 Champion Gear.
Do you think this is fair, you worked so hard for 2 month, and you finally got your champion gear, your guildmate just dinged 50 and he got 4 of his gears. And he never PVP.
If you feel that this situation is fake or impossible, please ask anyone in the game, or read the forums. Because once you experienced this yourself, you will realize how stupid this whole system is.
Currently this system does not reward PVPer , because anyone can get the luck of the draw and get all their Champion gear with their first 10 bags, and while others are valor rank 50+ and will never see a single gear.
Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it.
A game should be able to separate the PvP to the point where you can go into a "locker room", select from the top gear available, then actually go out and compete based on skills instead of who got the better gear.
Imagine PvP based on skill where gear's pretty much irrelevant...
i think they need to go to a work input equals gear system. i believe i seen this in warhammer. this goes for anything being 5 man or raid. the more work you put in (cc, heal, dps, threat, anything related to accomplishing the task at hand) puts you in a pool to rng against so its a bit more fair. either way if you are on the good end or bad end of rng. your a sore player to quit because you feel mistreated. i get real tired of people who expect high gear to be handed out for free. it pollutes the system and teaches players to be lazy and skip alot of content.
