I should really just apologize. I am just frustrated after waiting so long for this game and to reach such dissappointment. It gives me no right to mean to other people so I'll stop. Gawd, I would kill for kotor 3 instead of this.
I'm the complete opposite. I thought SWTOR would be complete and utter shite as more information came out regarding the classes etc. It was pure luck that found me playing a beta weekend and changed my opinion.
Just goes to show, expectation and hype are bad for you. I think a lot more ppl would be happy with TOR if they hadn't had such high expectations of it.
They postponed for one reason and one reason only. They are trying to get people to resub after the first free month. Anyone with half a brain knows that.
This isn't Trion and Rift where 90% of the playerbase is at cap already within the first month of play, I counted 167 level 50's on my server this Sunday afternoon out of 1339 players on the Empire side, players have a better reason to stick around than this update. I can see agian Teala you are letting your worldly cynicism cloud your judgment and I thought you had a boxed copy? why not use it you'll never know that cyncism might dissolve away when you start torturing Republic scum.
This doom and gloom thread was brought to you by Chin Up the new ultra high caffeine soft drink for gamers who just need that boost of happiness after a long forum session.

Why would they do this?
Seriously why would they be that stupid?
I mean they could just have announced the content update for next week if that would have been there plan.
it doesn't help to put out content. 6000 posts and counting.
Hardcore PVE and PVP players don't want to play with an unresponsive engine.
The problems of SW TOR lay in its core engine. Terrible coding for a $120 M game. Hence all those instances, lag, delay, painted (unreal) mountains, restricted number of players etc...
This game will not be fixed by a patch as the root of its game play lays within the leased engine.
I saw this in Beta play already.
One of the posts that caught my attention and could be further added to the list above:
"This delay issue is the reason we don't have combat logs. The sync is so screwy that the actual errors would become overwhelmingly apparent."
It is incredible this kind of game got 90% from IGN or 87% from this site. I question the technical knowledge of that kind of reviewers.
This is what caught my attention:
"I phone apps work better than this. G** D*** angry birds has better combat!!!! and my EX-girlfriend had more repeat playability than this game."
DISCLAIMER: This was a quote from actual poster on that thread and I quoted it to lighten the mood a bit. Don't crusify, please
What's really funny is the ridiculously blind and faithful people that responded with the ability delay issue being intended to prevent key spammers and "baddies". I mean seriously people. Take a step back, forget it's SW/BW, and realize what you're saying. My mind is blown.
Wonderful way to sucker some people into paying into another month just to see what 1.1 is all about.
This. It's so extremely obvious! It's not even funny.
They tried to schedule it for today, but most likely saw that too few people were resubbing, so they now pospone it till just after the resub period, forcing people to resub to see the changes and new content!
This is classic stuff in MMO land. TRION, for example, does this all the time with their major updates, always releasing them right after the resub period for the majority of people.
They postponed for one reason and one reason only. They are trying to get people to resub after the first free month. Anyone with half a brain knows that.

Ohhhh yeah that has to be it...and the other times they postponed the patches were all just for this day so it would be a well made cover up...makes sense how could i have been blinded that much?/
Sure is good to have some ppls who know it all to point this things out to me....well....or maybe some ppls are blinded by there hatred for the game and cant make 1 posts without leaving a negative comment lol
Come on guys you act like it would be a crime or something to add new content to get players to resub so they need to be sneaky about it....its common practice nothing shady or new about it so they really don't need to make this up to postpone the patch
But i guess it wouldn't be the Inet without Tinfoilhat facts behind every corner

It just takes one viral marketer to plant a seed in a forum. Fanatics do the rest. Fanatism is the lack of reason by definition.
I'm talking in general, I don't know the particularities of this delay problem.
It would not surprise me in the least if the "patch delay" is a planned move, based on building anticipation or trying to encourage as many players as possible to pay an extra month just to see if the patch doesn't perhaps fix some major issues.
SWTOR has had the slickest, most manipulative marketing campaign in the history of MMO's. Every step of the way has been carefully stage-managed and impeccably timed to generate the maximum hype. And it worked, bigtime, EA/BW/LA deserve major credit for that, at least
Anyone care to remember the "announcement" that there was an upcoming announcement about the opening of pre-order sales ? How hot can you make the fire ?

You just have to look at the PTS forums. Other than the complain about the Biochem nerf, there were no major issues people were talking about.
It's just too easy to just say, we pospone the patch due to "some issues". Yeah! What "issues" ?
Let's just face it! The reviewers might have filled their pockets with EA money to generate praising reviews... the average response from people actually playing the game for almost a month now, haven't actually been that stellar at all! Especially since it's now know that a lot of the reviews were based on the older Beta client with full HighRes textures enabled!
EA/Bioware is most probably pissing their pants right now and noticed that far less people are willing to sub to their game than that they had in mind themselves.
So it's a "pure" business move to pospone the patch just after the resub period and hope that more people will start a sub to the game to see this patch.
You don't have to have a tinfoil hat for this, as other companies have done it before with their MMO's. So nothing new.
Anyone care to remember the "announcement" that there was an upcoming announcement about the opening of pre-order sales ? How hot can you make the fire ?
STAY TUNED! We're about to announce an upcoming announcement! Don't want to spoil it for you, but it will have something to do about our upcoming announcement about the announcement of the PRE-ORDERS!
Because we care about ensuring that Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ provides you with a consistent and quality game play experience, we will be postponing weekly maintenance this week. Downtime was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 from 2AM CST (12AM PST/3AM EST/8AM GMT/9AM CET) to 10AM CST (8AM PST/11AM EST/4PM GMT/5PM CET) and will now occur at a later date due to issues requiring additional testing that have been discovered with the Game Update 1.1 content on the Public Test Server.
These issues were primarily brought to our attention by the diligent players on the Public Test Server Forums. Your participation in testing helps to improve the game as a whole, and we appreciate your discussion and feedback. The bug reports you provide are a valuable part of the development process. Thank you!
We’re working hard to bring you Game Update 1.1: Rise of the Rakghouls and are working hard to ensure your overall experience with Star Wars: The Old Republic is spectacular! The maintenance window for Game Update 1.1 will be rescheduled for some time within the next few days, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. When there’s a definite time, we will post here on the Community Blog as well as on the Official Forums. Please keep your eye out for updates, and we will provide information as soon as it’s available.
In other words: "Someone at EA noticed that 1.1 was set to go live before the end of the free month for people who started the game at launch. Rather than risk losing customers on the fence about whether or not to continue with a paid subscription, we will instead make you subscribe for another month to have the opportunity to sample our wonderous 1.1 patch".
I knew this was going to happen. In fact, I was shocked when the update was scheduled before the end of the free month, even if just by a day or so.
Sorry, I won't pay to continue beta testing this game.
BTW, Rakghouls are absolutely the most obnoxious and idiotic MOBs in the game. That they would base the update on them and call it "Rise of the Rakghouls" has me wondering if some of the devs aren't basically telling us that they know how bad the game is and don't mind telling us so in code.
"QUICKLY, they are on to us! Even our dumbest players are unsubbing! Delay the patch, and we'll get at least another month out of them, they realy are THAT dumb" HURRDURRRRdurrrrrrr
some mention issue!for start area of bh to tatooine ,not much of then ,i have reached alderan and they are begining to pop up ,badly stiched world(ya you see where the stich line are, when you turn a ray of sunlight appear like a lazer but but from a ship cannon right trough a house lol lot of gathering mat are not working ,maybe in the next patch it will be fixed . as for 1.1 being delayed because they want player to sub you are right it is the only reason ,someone came in with this news and a brass came there and say wtf i had planned to released it on the 22!left hand not speaking to right hand
fiontar i am happy you are going one less hater in swtor,i am all for critic but not hatefull critic ,constructive critic is nice like you dont like the aestetic mood, but at verious planet.
I only started a few days ago since my original copy got lost over the Christmas rush but I am enjoying the game and I am liking the stories and playing really slow. I did not beta much since I wanted the game to be fresh which it is to me. So far I am not bored or fed up or anything...I really do enjoy the game and I am hoping it keeps my interest. I am quite happy and my husband has joined me too and we both enjoy the game. I guess I am lucky that I have found a game to play for now. So I will resubbing if I still feel the same at the end of the free month.
I should really just apologize. I am just frustrated after waiting so long for this game and to reach such dissappointment. It gives me no right to mean to other people so I'll stop. Gawd, I would kill for kotor 3 instead of this.

Good theory.
For months (years?) my gaming friends all told me that the reason I invariably found new mmo releases sorely lacking (WAR, AOC, AION, etc etc etc) was that I kept too abreast of the info coming out pre-release and so ended up being dissapointed when the hype wasn't met. Since the theory makes sense (although unfailingly they all left said games maybe a month after I did, if that) I decided not to read a single thing about TOR beforehand. I didn't even realize the game had launched until early january.
Result: Removed cc deets from the system before the 2 week mark.
Bad games are bad, no matter how much you hoped the hype was true.
(add here "this is my opinion not fact" for all those obsessed with such disclaimers)

Funny thing is if it is got problems and they release it tomorrow, then the people that think this way, would be saying this is the exact reason why I have canceled my sub and will not be coming back. They are damned if they do and damned if they dont. Just cant make some people happy.

If it was really about "providing you with a consistent and quality game play experience", they would have postponed launch instead.
Very well said, +1.

I'm sure this is the end of the world for the 10% already at cap (I'm there too), but I'd rather have it working when it goes lives than broken.
But Teala dont be such a hater.
Just kidding, ofcourse that is the real reason...

wow, the conspiracy theorist arise! haha.
As far as the 'lag' and ability delays...haven't experienced them. At all.
Not even sure people are playing the same game I am somethimes. And no, I'm not a fanbois. You can check my post history.
I'm glad they've postponed the patch. I'm glad they're listening to their testers.
I've got plenty of content to play anyway, so no hurry.
