Is there some other way to download the game without a need for Origin account?
Nah I doubt it. Btw you can just use your SWTOR account ( If you play SWTOR ) If not, it only takes 2-3 minutes to download+register. I can tell you that it's worth every little minute to play this game.

Well, I still need Origin app...
I am not fond to similar "services"...and I am not curious enough about the game to make me bend
Not sure, I'm not far enough in the game yet. I only played Elder Scrolls at my friend's place so no idea how that starting zone is like.. If it even has one. This game does tho.
All I can say is WOW! I am impressed beyond what I expected...and my expectations were very high already. It's worth the Origin install to enjoy this one. I can't WAIT for the full version!

Edit: Yes, it indeed has an open world.

Steam has the demo up now, downloading it right now. I'd much rather go through Steam than deal with Origin.
O sweet. I figured it wouldn't be on steam. Steam is also my first choice so I will get it on there, but if it was an origin exclusive it would not have stopped me from trying it.

Oh thank goodness!
Also, I got my daily Newegg email of deals and in it was a nifty pre-order for Amalur at $12 cheaper ~ that is if anyone would like to save a few dollars but also have to wait a few extra days to play.
@Newegg $47.99 Pre-order w/ free shipping Kingdoms of Amalur: The Reckoning:
First I had to get used to the camera and combat, but dayum... I was rocking that boss at the end of the quest... I must agree, this game goes beyond expectations. Very nice !
I palyed it for 10 minutes or so. I got to the main scientist (not the guy who follows you around) who created the well of life. His conversation was either bugged or it was the end of the Demo. I could only pick one option in his dialogue and it kept repeating in a loop.
I did not see a save button. Was this the end of the Demo or was it more.
Hard to judge a game ona 10 min demo. it seemed like a very generic Diablo type hack and slash. But hard to say if there is any depth to the game in such a short time. The graphics and artwork seemed ok. Not great but not terrible. I was expecting much better graphics and artwork. But again there are much worse. I did not leave with a good or bad feeling. The UI I thought was a bit clunky and should be streamlined for dealing with items.
You should probably add that the PC version is also now on Steam to the OP.

This game is awesome best graphics ever and the best combat system.
Very fun to play and i think by far Kingdoms of Amalur > SWTOR on all aspects.
BTW this is a definite pre-order for me.
Isn't this a singleplayer RPG, and not an MMO? So, how does it relate to other singleplayer RPG's like The Witcher 2 and Skyrim when it comes down to graphics and combat system? And is it true what the other poster was saying, that it's only a 10 minute gameplay demo?

I did not say it was a 10 minute demo. I was asking if it was only 10 mins. When i got to scientest, Hughes, at the Well of Life which I am guessing is the end of the tutorial. We had a conversation and it either bugged or it was the end of the demo. The conversation only gave me one option and looped. So I don't know.
Graphic wise its not good. But its not bad. I mainly play MMOs so it would be betetr than SWTOR but not as good as Rift. It certainly would not be in the league of Skyrim in terms of graphics. Floor textures are poor. Artwork is pretty bland. Charcter models are fair. Graphics are much more like a MMO. But considering they are makinga MMO out of the game it makes more sense.

Origin?
And I was highly anticipating this game. =/
Well, I would like to play it, but fuck Origin and fuck EA...they're not getting their grimey little fingers inside my PC!
Oh crap, does Amalur require Origin to play like Mass Effect 3 will? As in the one time activation BS? If it does then fuck you again EA...

Fantastic. Will try this out on PC and Xbox as soon as I get home.
