ya, the lazy way .... well, at least something to improve.

what about reworking the website a little ?

big trouble, ya, additional options where you choose your prefered server to get tagged automatically in that section of the forums .. ya, even i could code that.

so glad i can see, on what servers i have my chars in the server status page.

vice versa i enjoy how this game turns out step by step, not to sound so negative all time :P

    Ummmm, yeah...

I just don't get why it's so hard to have a specific forum for each server.  WoW does it and I'm sure they have a lot more servers than SWTOR.

This.... just this with pic n all.

I used to hold high esteem for BW on the basis of the Baulder's Gate series and NWN, with a good deal from the ME series.  Lately though with how their handeling SWTOR that esteem has bee n going downhill.

Server forums serve one purpose and one purpose only-

Trash talk between factions, and inter-faction hazing, trash talk/ e-peen threads.

Any organized guild has their own website/ forums so don't give me that: "We needz forums to communicate!" BS

Basically the way it will work is that there will be forums for groups of servers listed alphabetically. Each forum will be shared between a few servers, but they have asked that you preface your posts with [Server Name] when posting.

Each of these forums will have a Guild Recruitment sub-forum also.

What do you think? Is this sufficient for those of you that wanted server specific forums?

    Serously? This is a concern?

It's half true, in my opinion.  While every server is going to have those few people who make it their goal to be popular in general chat or the forums, they will find a way even if they can't do it through forums.  On my server, I can name a few people that stick to general chat like glue and try to wrangle some e-fame.

I would prefer server forums, since it would be a great place to consolidate guild recruitment, organize pug raids, etc.  When I played WoW before cross server battlegrounds, we used to have a lot of playful ribbing between allies and horde on our server which was not only entertaining to read, but it also brought our community together.  Organized guilds will of course have their own place to go, but it would be nice to talk to the server as a whole in some cases.

There's alternatives of course.  Reddit has made subreddits for the servers and there's a thread somewhere on the official forums about people who tried to make unofficial server forums.  But which one do we use to reach out to as many people on our server as possible?  Even the subreddit for my server is very inactive and none of the other 'unofficial forums' even boast 50+ people.

This solution seems awkward.  I'm not going to stop playing over it or anything, since it is at least in the right direction, but I see little point in making every forum have five servers instead of one.

By this logic there's no reason for official forums at all aside from bug reports/tech issues.

    I agree.

It's not that this is something super mega important, but their handling of it just reeks of cost-cutting and mediocrity.  Server forums are something that's pretty standard for MMORPGs.  The fact that they aren't willing to spend money to hire another mod or whatever is kind of...odd, and makes you question what else they are willing to cut.

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

I'm not sure if it would be cost cutting in the long run. If you think about it, the server clusters should see the same amount of traffic as individual server forums. There is probably some specific design decision as to why they are doing this. I'd go for the cost-cutting answer if they stuck to their guns of not even having server forums period. I could be wrong though.

The only benefit I can see from this is that the clusters will seem more lively then just a lone server forum. Other then that, the prefacing your post with server is a bit clunky.

You're right, they serve no other purpose than that - funny that the server forums I have been on in the past did not have what you talk about hardly at all, and mostly consisted of server events, guild recruitment, general chat, etc.  But, I must have been imagining that since they only serve the purpose you talk about.

Considering the level of customer service so far.........it doesn't seem that surprising to me that they want to minimize costs in this avenue also.

The only reason I can think of using a server cluster forum is if they decide to merge servers at some point and don't want to have to remove forums for those servers that get removed. And I guess they would already know what servers need merging by now since the box sale boom is probably almost over.

But I still don't think that's the best way to do things! My 2 cents...

Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.

As it stands, there is zero sense of community in this game.

Server forums would help to a degree, but with the sharding -- I don't think it's ever going to feel like a true MMO.
