Right, we covered it all yesterday.

    You read the OP?

Article from massively.com is from today.

I was on and off MMORPG.com for a while yesterday, so NO threads about the "cancel sub issue."

If I am mistaken and this topic was covered yesterday on MMORPG.com, I appologize, but I'm one of those people who tries to research before reposting the same topic.

Checked my account just to see, spotted the 'cancel subscription' button. Tried it with several browsers, same result. Meh -_-

... not saying that there aren't some people that might have some legit problems with it. Just that it weren't problems I had, spotted the button pretty simply.

    This is just getting pathetic....

Tin foil hat on or off, seriously.... wtf Bioware?

Coming from me, someone who is/was a Bioware / Star Wars / TOR fanboi... I'm becoming QUITE disillusioned.

You're letting yourself get trolled man.  I had to switch credit cards but had a delay, so I cancelled my sub mid-month.  No issues whatsoever.  I resubbed today, now that I got my new card.  There is no issue with the cancel button.  I've heard this 'cancellation issue' with every mmo release in the last 5 years.  It's an old troll, tbh.

Thankfully I don't want to cancel, but I don't have a cancel button at all.  It says I don't have a sub at all, but when I click on the button to subscribe (because I do want to continue) It says I already have a recurring subscription..lol.  I use Chrome, so I'll check and see if I use a different browser what happens.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

The only tin foil hats I am seeing are on the customers.

Why do you even care about this stuff? If it really is a browser issue then call and cancel until it is fixed.

I am finding the only reason game forums even exist today is to surface all the biatch, whiner basement dwellers who wouldn't know an important real world issue unless a plane crashed on their house.

You have two choices: Play the game or do not play the game. Evidently most posters on boards can do neither without the opinions of every peer (I lol at that word when used here) around them. Spineless.

    You stay sassy!

    I agree completely.

Oh, and I have checked swtor.com with IE, Firefox and Chrome and all of them are getting the cancel button. I find it very suspicious that I have not seen screenshots from people supposedly having this problem.

I don't think my issue has anything to do with a browser.  The site is down right now so I will check again.  It just tells me on the subscription page that I have no game time and that I should either set up a recurring subscription or add a game time card code.  However, when I click on the subscribe button it tells me I have a recurring subscription, shows me my billing info, etc.  And I am logging in today and my payment went through, but according to the subscription page I have no gametime and should add some..lol.  It makes sense that I wouldn't have a cancel button if I don't have any gametime.  What doesn't make sense is why its telling me I don't have gametime when my payment was processed and I'm playing the game.

Edit:  I wonder if that is why the site is down, to fix problems like the one I'm having?  I'm sure the tinfoil hat brigade will claim the site is down to keep people from unsubbing.

I didn't have an issue canceling...I think this is BS to be honest.

EA may do some pretty horrible things, but they wouldn't be obvious enough to just remove a cancel button.  They may be evil, but they're not stupid ;).

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

Is it really happening or is this all just a troll attempt. My guess is that it is happening but only on certain browsers or certain updates of certain browsers.

It is noteworthy, however that the same thing happened with Warhammer right at the time that Rift was released last year.

Happens twice with the same company and it is a "browser error" that specifically targets the same cancel subscription button in two separate games with completely separate customer management pages? That is quite a coincedence. I really hope this really is just a hoax

But at the end of the day, if it turns out to be true. If you really did intend to cancel your sub. Call your bank when the charge comes through and have them reverse it. But be sure you really want to cancel because Bioware will be completely justified in locking your account since the reversal will cost them a healthy fee.

    All die, so die well.

It's not that evil, it's just the main "subscription status" page that has this bug where it doesn't recognize you as currently subscribed, while if you click to subscribe or to see your transaction history both pages will properly recognize your subscription leaving you only with the choice to remove the CC/Paypal info but not properly cancel (only the main page would offer you the cancel choice), unless you use the link people that do not have this bug provided for the bugged ones to access the cancel page if you want to.

This is not a bug that is happening to everyone.

Anyway, the bug is there and the workarounds are also there, so any further drama/conspiracies are just stretches until another issue happens.

Check badspocks link to the other thread on this, has some links to screenshots.  Also people seem to be saying it's more an issue with not recognising that they have a sub to cancel rather than a browser problem.

Its happenning. No option to cancel at least with firefox.

A work around is adding /cancel to the end of the URL.

Hi rez debacle, illium exploit, founder title and now this? This is really putting me off my plan to try out ToR in the near future. I don't see how they can focus on rolling out content with major PR and dmg control going off every week. Of all the issue, this have got to be the lowest a mmo can go to retain sub.

I can see a cancel button on my account and I have a sub setup.

I did enter my game code in as late as possible however and it does say I still have 1 day left on my subscription.

If it is anything I suspect it is a bug perhaps for people who have entered their gamecode in earlier during early access and some dodgy website code on whether to display or not display the button.

You can still cancel though a URL

(you can still change your credit card info even so you can ensure they will not take payment)

I think this smells of cheap drama from people trying to discredit bioware. If cancel sub button happened to me I would just change my CC info.  Who cares if they try and take money from a non existent card.

I entered my info on the 19th of Dec.  Cancel button is showing for me (and yes, I am also showing an active sub)

Add massive lag and latency issues, server/client sync fubarred, clunky UI, UI delays, crafting being utterly pointless unless you plan on raiding your ass off, pointless pvp, boring warzones, lack of warzone maps, boring open world pvp, pointless open world pvp, massive population imbalance, very limited replay value (amazingly it's true, try levelling a third character, apart from the storyline it's all filler as you have done everything else already twice, it's a shocking grind).

There are many more gripes with this game but i can't be bothered to list them all.

Expresso gave me a Hearthstone beta key.....I'm so happy :)

They have limited access to the website now too since the servers are offline. I have never had this much trouble accessing a games website during downtime, apparently all the players want to surf their website instead of finding something else to do.

I sincerely believe they are choking their own website though I have no proof.

  • brutality123brutality123 Member Posts: 125

Don't know.. it seems odd to see the queue screen.

    DNS attack?

  • DonanitDonanit Member Posts: 5

It might be that some browsers don't work, it might be that Bioware (EA i would say) didn't make things easy for those that want to cancel their sub. I canceled the preorder twice because i was not happy with what i saw in the trails and in what EA/Bioware were doing about not releasing the game in most of the world, plus the open beta which was a slap to european players.

I had troubles canceling my preorder the first time, the second time it was easier, even if there was no live chat available anymore and i had to do everything by email.

I'm actually enjoying the game and my son bought his copy a couple of days ago. Can't find anything wrong, no gamebreaking bugs. I had to set up my nvidia to make everything better and i can enjoy the game with my setting bypassing Bioware's crappy ones, that's all.

What concerns me and i want to tell everybody about is still the same issue that made me cancel my preorder twice:

EA is a greedy company, Bioware is at its first MMORPG and lacks a lot on customer service plus they are not selfconfident. If you see that someone is not selfconfident, you begin wondering about it and that something wrong has to be with that person.

Bioware didn't want to sell the game in all the world allowing only north America and half Europe to buy the game. Open beta was, nearly until the end of it, only for north American SWTOR fans. Since release the game has been subject to several patches and maintenances, while i appreciate it that leaves me with a bad feeling: why have they to do that during the day? Why on earth had they to patch the game during the evening for European server today??  It seems that in Ireland there are just few technicians only able to switch servers on and off; and maybe it's true, Bioware applies patches to european servers by remote access... Why the game game is not localized in many languages (just the subtitles...) as they are used to do with all their other games? I got no problem at all with written and spoken english and the same applies to my son; not the same about my wife nor many others i know.

I repeat, the game is ok, at least for me. But there must be something wrong that Bioware is keeping secret. Even the forums are not what you would expect from such a big comapany. Could it be that Bioware went much over its budget and is now struggling with finances?

Sorry about the wall of text and don't flame me, please, i just 'said' my thoughts.

Nah I'd rather go onto a forum that won't get me an answer and just vent my anger for a bunch of other angry people to read.

While it may be a real issue, I feel like 95% of "computer problems" are because the user is doing something wrong.

As someone who works in IT trust me, I share that sympathy.

I only find this "funny" and news worthy as well as ironic due to today being the cut off point for the free month.

Again, happy I bought a time card instead.

Yeah the timing is impeccable. I guess i should be grateful i canceled several days back then because well I'm a guy, I'd sooner suck up the 15 bucks and simple cancel a week or two from now when i can click a button than have to go through calling anyone, that's BS in this day and age. Heck I'd sooner suck up a hundred dollar purchase than having to return it as well, where my wife would have no reservation returning a Chiclet out of a pack of gum.

Yeah, i could completely understand hundreds of thousands of (male) players going f'it suck up the 15 (ah well i get a title anyway) and cancel later on, then EA can brag about it's first month retention.
