I call BS on that focus group gave green light on teleporting winners to safety. Funny how Theia is again laying low on these forums now that we've seen second event being poorly planned.
I also find it funny how Theia is arguing that a poorly made event is better than no event at all.. yeah, sure, but if you resort to using such an argument, the game's a lost case. You are defending poorly made rules and try to patch them, instead of making new ones from scratch which would support team gameplay.
What does focus group had to do with anything else than testing?
Funny part is that I didn't even see an apology in there. Unless I missed it. All I saw was the typical excuse making about how much work it was for such a small team, how it was a thankless job, and shame on those who complained about it.
From Theia's post:
"If we ever port winners home again we will pre-announce it, that was my mistake for not doing that and I apologise, something I seem to have to do a lot after one of my events, "
So the whole team put huge and lengthy effort into pre-staging kit, weapons etc so that we could drive fairness into an event that was after all for a unique weapon.
.....
Try to realise the sheer effort that goes Into these events, the weeks of planning, building, publicising and all the rest of it, done by a mainly volunteer team.
.....
We will continue to try and learn to make the next event better but this level of rage is really discouraging
So.. it was a huge effort for the entore team to stage an MMO event for 30 people...
Wow.. imagine if it was like a real MMO and had hundreds or thousands of participants.
Funny part is that I didn't even see an apology in there. Unless I missed it. All I saw was the typical excuse making about how much work it was for such a small team, how it was a thankless job, and shame on those who complained about it.
Here's some free advice: Instead of spending "weeks of planning, building, pblicizing and all the rest" for 30 players.. maybe spend that time in a more productive way. Also, when you screw up yet again, don't blame your customers for being upset.
Did Theia forget that people pay money every month to play?
Remember that we write these events for YOU, not us, not for SV, the support team made up mainly of volunteers give up their free time to run these for you.
Remember that when you rage-post people from outside our community, some of them with nothing but hate for MO sieze upon this in a somewhat feeble attempt to prove bias (which I hope given the level of rage with the support team by a certain guild is seen now as even more ridiculous than it was before).
Try to realise the sheer effort that goes Into these events, the weeks of planning, building, publicising and all the rest of it, done by a mainly volunteer team.

When will anyone from SV learn especially you Theia. If the game is good it does not matter what people say on some crappy MMO website. I love it tho. Please guys don't post bad stuff about the game we don't want other people talking about it. We may only have 150 people playing instead of the 200.
And thiea I seriously do not think that SV is biased for any guild (except maybe for AI) I just think you guys just do not know what you are doing. In no other event have you given out anything near the reward you did of this one. And the BOSS just stood there and did nothing yet you still gave the same reward. No one thought "hmm the boss is bugged should we still give out 7k gold in resources plus the shield that can be sold for a ton??? You know on the spot non monkey thinking. LULZZZZ. I do not know if you are new or what SV has never done a good pvp event.
I remember back then, when this guy came down here to "clear grey areas" and people were saying things like how Theia was one of the only devs in SV they respected and such. But what he has posted in relation to just another SV blooper is downright insulting to anyone who pays a sub for any MMO. So are the subscribers not worth the monthly fees they pay that they can be taken for a ride by "volunteers"? Do we not pay a sub while expecting it to be put to good use and not by some prissy pricks who pin their mistakes on us for paying them in the first place?
I got a question to all those diehard MO fanboys out there, if it was SOE, Cryptic, FUncom, EA or whatever game company it is that you hate, post this exact message after yet another fail event which blames the subscribers for voicing their concerns would you still let the issue slide? Think bout it, and if you`d let it slide only because you "love" SV since they are "indie" or whatever excuse you put in here, then tell me how badly did any other company treat you and compare it to how badly SV have always been treating you.
There would have been no problem if players were just bitching bout the event being mismanaged but this guy is telling them to shut up or people will post bout it on sites "outside our community". This guy seems to care more bout random 3rd party sites than his game. What is feeble is his attempt to snuff out the truth, not the fact that some guild raged on a hardcore PVP game forum for not winning.
Why dont you tell us if such an incident and the resulting "volunteer" GM backlash at their own mistake isnt one of the reasons that might have given rise to some of them with nothing but hate for MO .
@darthturtle1: I dont think he brought up "bias" since hardly anyone would come to that conclusion as to why this event was yet another failure. Im sure he threw it in there to pull the issue away from the real problem: SV's incompetence and inability to learn from previous mistakes.
You know that is the definition of cheating. It is breaking the rules. They are the same guild they even admitted it. I am sure that the blatant use of exploits and bugs that help people get the better of others in MO is also strategy?
Not an MO player but a sandbox veteran
No, it's just politics, they formed a different guild and are closely allied with them, perfectly allowable unless you think anyone who joins a guild can never leave. At the moment it may seem like they act together but the beauty of a sandbox is that over time they will start to drift apart into separate entities occasionally exploding into war and bitter recrimination with one another..

In the official forums they said they are the same guild. The only reason they are 2 different guilds is, in MO for some reason a guild can not own more than one keep. You have to put a new guild stone in the keep hence a new guild. It has nothing to do with sandbox, actually it is less sandbox because the game has no tools for guilds to own more than one keep due to bad mechanics, which makes no sence in a game with territory control. It has zero due to politics and more to do with no mechanics or sandbox, territory control systems.

What RefMinor and I are saying is that it doesn't matter if they say they are the same guild or if they operate together...in the game they are two different guilds. To my knowledge (and correct me if I'm wrong) it's not against the rules in anyway to do what they are doing.
Sure they are kind of following the letter of the law and not the intent...but that's the fun of sandbox games.

They are the same people.. just secondary characters on their accts. The issue is really the silly non-sandbox rule about only one keep per guild. To get around that they just made alt-guilds. Now they are using the alt-guilds to get around clear rules in a tournament.
Deep down I dont think SV really cares because even with guilds doing this they only managed to get 30ish people for their big event that according to the GM was a massive effort to organize and publicize...

Went to a business studies lecture today at uni. Topic: Public Relations.
It was literally a 90 minutes summary of "things that SV is doing exactly the wrong way around". It was filled with intellectual gems like "Even good PR won't make a bad product any better", "PR isn't advertisement, if you want customer contact, stop using advertisement speech", and "build up a relationship of trust and earn a good reputation".
90 minutes, and I'm not even studying anything truely business-related. Why didn't Henrik have at least those 90 minutes for business studies 101 before he created an internationally operating company and sent his advertisers here? I've never seen such an overestimation of one's own capabilities paired with so little actual qualification.
Theia, you could show some real wisdom by telling Henrik that your work here is only hurting his company. But I bet he fires everyone who's smarter than him, doesn't he?
Btw, way to tell your paying customers that you think of them as your minions. Classic SV comedy. Only here and nowhere else anyone could find this. And since when are you a volunteer? I thought you said SV pays you? Anyway, people pay SV. At least 30 of them. So treat them with respect, if you know how.

Alts or no alts everything I said stands...their characters are still in seperate guilds and they did nothing except use the game mechanics creatively. I do agree though you should be able to take over more than 1 keep, although I understand why they have the limits.
I also find it hard how anyone could say they don't care about these events...they take time to organize them, they try to run them, and they respend directy to the players feedback/critisism. Now keep in mind I'm not saying they are good at running events...but I think it's unfair to say they don't care about them.

Yes, Henrik really is that bad at running a company. The company has a customer retention rate in the low single digits, is failing financially, and is widely regarded as the model of how not to run an MMO among genre fans.

Was browsing the web and came upon a web site dedicated to marketing, PR and advertising professionals. They had an article about the "DO's" and "Do Not's" of being a Community Manager. Under the Do Not section they had this:
"Deep community managers really connect with their community – and when there’s animosity, it can feel like serious heartache. Angry users can sling insults at an icon or a logo without much hesitation, forgetting there’s a human being on the other side of the monitor. Still, it’s crucial to maintain a level head when dealing with negative Nellies. In the immortal words of the Godfather, “It’s not personal; it’s business.” Complainers are upset with the brand experience, not you."
Good advice for that certain official SV poster on here!
Okay, okay, and for the rest of us about not forgeting there is a real human on the other side of the monitor...
