Predicted release?

blognorgblognorg Member UncommonPosts: 643

Does anyone have any info that will be indicative of an early summer release? I'm really hping they do, so that I will actually have time to play it. It'll totally suck if they pull a Skyrim and release a week before finals :-(

Will the game have bugs? Yes.

    A lot? Probably many bugs

Bugs I can deal with, like Skyrim bugs, I can live with that, nothing really breaks the game for me, but problems a game might have (skyrim shit UI) that is a deal breaker for me.

I could list a few for SWTOR aswell, since the game is pretty much unfinished, and not talking about bugs here either

I wouldn't mind seeing some Skyrim bugs in my Guild Wars 2. They were kind of hilarious.

Has for an actual release date, an early Summer release is actually possible, though I won't be putting all my hopes on it. Well not until the March & April betas and we get an idea of where the game is at, development-wise.

Predicted release? Well, I will say May (My prediction) I heard Close Beta is over or finishing and the coming months will be beta for the press and others groups, so yeah, maybe close to summer.

    Friday, May 18th.

And what's up with the 2nd post in this thread?  It's like a completely separate idea that has nothing to do with the thread at all.

April 28th (Guild Wars Aniversary)  They really wanted a # 4 jersey but the guy that wears it still works there.  :)

Just kidding.  The official answer is "when its ready."

Before June 27th. That's my prediction.

There is no official release date yet, because they really mean it when they say it won't be released until it's ready and the final check mark before launch is associated with the outcome of Public Testing. However, assuming no issues arise, I don't think that they need to conclude testing in March AND April before announcing a launch date. I think if the March Public Beta(s) don't show any issues, the release date could be announced very shortly there after.

May seems to be a fairly safe bet, once again assuming nothing unforseen shows it's ugly head between now and then. Late April isn't completely impossible, but a lot less likely than May. I find it hard to believe it will launch any later than June, unless the wheels really fall off on something major.

My personal evaluation is about July. They wont release it before summer till they fix various things in the game. A guess of mine is they try to fix mistakes that have to do with the dynamic events situation.

In the not too distant future,

    Next Summer, A.D.

There was a guy named Colin,

Not too different from you or me.

    He worked at ArenaNet,

Just another face in red jump suit.

He did a good job thinking up a game,

But his bosses didn't like him & they shot him into space!

    We'll send him cheesy ideas,

The worst we can find...(la! la! la!)

He'll have to sit & program them all,

Then we'll monitor his mind...(la! la! la!)

Now keep in mind Colin can't control,

When the game begins & ends...(la! la! la!)

Because he used those special codes,

To make his robot friends --

    ROBOT ROLL CALL (Let's Go!)

    Cambot (Pan Left!)

    Gypsy (Hi Girls!)

    Tom Servo (Hi Tall Guy!)

    Crooooooow (I'm The Wisecracker!)

If you're wondering how he eats & breathes,

And other science facts...(la! la! la!)

Then repeat to yourself its just a game,

I should really just relax...For ArenaNet Guild Wars 2 Release

    3000.......

    I'll guess Summer 2012 !

My best estimate would be late Spring or very early Summer. I'm hoping before July. They just finished some closed Beta testing, and the president of ArenaNet has said that they will have less and less restricted testing as time goes on. He said: "In March and April we’ll aggressively ramp up the size of our beta test events so that many of you will have a chance to participate."

Here is the link to the blog post he released about this:

    My guess goes after summer

  • blognorgblognorg Member UncommonPosts: 643

I read about their plans to ramp up testing this spring, but the words "open beta" were never uttered. Usually games release pretty quickly after open beta, but ArenaNet's plans seem a little ambiguous. I was just curious if there was any other info floating around that I hadn't caught. Personally, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for summer so that I can play it.

The thing is I don't think they are going to be doing Open Beta, I believe they are going to be doing the same plan like they did with GW 1. I believe it's called Preview Event, where you start off at a specific level and are limited to couple of area. I remember in order to get in to the Event, it's either by luck of draw or Pre Order CE. Not sure but I do think this is the same idea for GW 1.

That's the World Preview Event for GW 1 so probably same for GW 2.

Q3 2012! They will take their time and milk it until they feel it is perfect.

I don't know about you but I think it's ready and playable as it is, the fact that they are inviting couple of Press "in Feb"  to participate in testing and if NDA drops could be a sign of hype increase, but also a form of marketing. I guess you can say this is their way of advertising.

Now of course this is just my opinion but from the experience of when I played GW 2 in GC 2010 and GC 2011 is a huge jump in Aesthetic and Gameplay also Optimized.

I still think it will be a May release, but Arenanet has been very good at leaving both optimists and pessimists plenty of metaphorical rope by which to hang themselves. :)

I'm already playing. But I'm also from the future.

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

Baah, this will probably end up just like SWTOR, which launched 2 days before my finals.
