not at all...same old crap, same old boring things in general...

I love the crafting system. I hate the uselessness of what is crafted at the end game.

Things you can spend a lot of time and money to craft are easily replaced by dailies, PvP, instances, etc.

They didn't find a way to reward the most dedicated crafters. The mods and gear you make are the bottom of the line at level 50.

Like I said, I love the actual game system. The crafting is really good as you level up, but that's all it's good for outside of biochem.

I dont think it was awful but i dont think it was great either, it was just, ok. But thats just my opinion and we all know what those are like...

I very much enjoy sending a companion off to do it instead of me wasting my time watching a bar fill at a workbench.

  • spaceportspaceport Member Posts: 405

It's useless, nothing but a credit & time sink.

Dailys mods are better than crafted mods.

Sending companions to gather mats should be free.

The Reverse Enginering is just like any other critical based crafting, basically Aion crafting 2.0, but more casual.

And it's still useless for an ALT, even if you have 5 million credits, it's cheaper and faster to buy crafted or dropped items on the GTA.

There is nothing else to do in this game but QUEST QUEST QUEST.

I really hope you ve been sarcastic, cause Swtopr crafting is the most useless feature seen in any MMO in the last few years.

It's just a pointless grind which  doesn't give neither good gear to use or any good to sell, total fail IMO.

This is how I feel as well. I do it cause its fun. But its not as viable as Id like it to be.

I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.

i like the crafting, i also wish it was more viable, i wish the stuff u make as u level and hit level cap was more important to players.

u can still sell mats , but the stuff u make usually is only good for u and your reverse engineering, I do think its fun, its no worse then crafting in wow or other mmo's ive played.

i never played galaxies or the games with really intricate crafting systems but tor's crafting is fun for what it is, at least the companions making stuff takes away the watching a bar till stuff is done.

It's kinda like this.  Some people like Mozart.  Some people like Britney Spears.  Some people think Britney Spears is more awesome than Mozart could ever hope to be..........HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA  (And some people will just never understand how ridiculous that is.)

Check out precu SWG crafting for depth.  Oh wait, you cant.  And before you say it was the same as NGE crafting, it wasn't.  They got rid of item decay and started adding more rewards and loot drops, eroding the crafting.

For another example of indepth crafting, take a look at Ryzom.  That one is still around.

SWTOR's crafting is for monkeys.  No intelligence required, just finger pecking.

  • TheLizardbonesTheLizardbones Member CommonPosts: 10,910

I don't dislike the crafting. I'm not super fond of it either. It does give you something to do and it's better than doing nothing, but that's about the best thing I can say about it.

    ** edit **
I would like it better if the stuff or the crafting professions were all useful in some way.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I dont understand how crafted stuff is useless... Crafted purples with augments are as good as columi gear.
Pvp items are better cuz of expertise though...
    But still!
As for not good to sell.. Im actually selling a LOT of blue and green augmented lvl 49 earpieces. Haven been selling purple ones with augmnts since i made them for me an my friend though..

I never tried swg crafting but i felt useful in swtor cuz people actually send me mail asking if i could craft x item or theyll send me mats to mass produce something for a augment o.o

It always felt more like micro-managing a small business than crafting to me. Khem Val always giving me lip... classic manager-employee interaction.

Crafting is easy to do and good for helping gear leveling alts, needs more to it for end game but its good they didnt make it insanely complex, or made you sit and watch crafting bars for hours to be sure that nothing goes wrong, its fast and simple and gets you gear.

I give it a 7/10 because of the need for more end game worth.

  • Cameo3Cameo3 Member Posts: 219

I love it there needs to be a bit more for end game crafting but all in all I think it's the best crafting.

Well you have inspired me to give it a shot.  See that's the thing though, I think it's nice people sending you emails.  Makes you feel needed and as a crafter I like that.

this and i wouldnt mind crafting if there' wasn't a long timer for crafting a single item..I'm ok with time for gathering missions and all that but not for actually making an item gets really annoying and there's no reason for it other than to suck up time for no reason.

  • CastillleCastillle Member UncommonPosts: 2,679
For end game, umm.. The level 49 greens when turned purple are extremely good. There are also naturally blue items that are 50 (some require no bop mats an are boe) have actualy 2 levels of purple which people dont pay attention to. Those items are VERY good.

They go blue -> purple level 1 -> purple level 2 and those are the ones that give t3 raiding items a run for their money.

As for other items, there are orange weapons with augments. Umm... Those are flat out the best weapons in game.

As a non-crafter I like, but I think that says a lot about this system.

I agree.  Even WoW didn't take this long to craft even high level items.  Especially when you are low level and only have one or two companions, it can take forever to craft useful gear and to advance your skill level enough to craft more.

That being said, I am enjoying it.  Being a shield vanguard, I took armortech as the most useful for me.  Plus, I was always a BS in WoW.  I like that if you need mats you are not necessarily limited to gathering or the GTN.  I send my crew on Scavenging or UT missions all the time.

  • FennrisFennris Member UncommonPosts: 277

The crafting is ok up until 49 or so when you will realize just how stupid you were to waste the time and credits (unless you learned biochem).  At that point the skill becomes ok for alts, basically.  You will quickly get better gear than you can craft (in most professions) doing level 50 raids -or- dailies -or- pvp.

What orange weapons are you talking about Castille? I have a hard time believing that any orange is better than the Rakata level weapons.

If you look at the loot tables for what drops fr HM and NM ops the best weapons I see are the purples.

    Edit to add links:

Best orange tanking lightsaber with augment:

    Purple Rakata level weapon:

The orange is level 118. The battlemaster is level 140.  Everything is better on the battlemaster and darth sions saber.

I found crafting to be pretty good. In most MMOs crafting becomes a massive timesink compared to adventuring and on top of that you make only useless items. Only if you go pure crafter and then adventure do you get much out of it. TOR is much simpler and faster to level and you can easily craft while playing to where you can always make stuff in your level range. My Cybertech BH could make armorings and mods for every custom item and stay well geared. I've benefited from everything I can make... hoverbikes, ship upgrades, grenades, and upgrade mods all of that. I can't recall ever having crafting so painless and useful at the same time.

dubyahite, That orange doesn't have the best mods, they aren't even purple.

  • dubyahitedubyahite Member UncommonPosts: 2,483
Ok mmoguy. The orange can be nodded out with the best mods.

Do you know what comes with those mods? The 140 weapons. Best color crystal in the game as well.

Now, do you know what the mats are for those "best mods?" the biometric crystal thing that you get from raids and hard modes. And where do you get the schematic for that mod? Raids.

So you have to raid to get this schematics, and to get the bop mat. You then have to use your mats to make the thing. And it requires a schematic for each type of mod.

Remember, the level 56 color crystal from the Rakata weapon is NOT craftable. This alone makes the Rakata better than the orange.

It is much easier and faster to get drops than to craft. And the statement that the orange saber is the best in the game is simply untrue.

The orange saber + the best mods is NEARLY as good as the Rakata weapon, but falls short on the color crystal.

To get close to the purple you have to craft the saber, the hilt, the mod, enhancement, and color crystal with raid drop mats and schematics for each of those things, an it still won't have the level 56 color crystal unless you rip it out of the Rakata saber.

It's not even equivalent, let alone better.
