SWTOR is to MMORPGs what SPORE was to strategy games. A terrible game with a gimmick that manages to miraculously score 85% everywhere even though the vast majority of players find its shallowness and lack of actual content disgusting.
What's terrible is when people in the minority think they're in the "vast majority".
Bait you new to mmos? Because every single mmo that ever came out had a lack of content , but swtor has alot of it.
People that come to these forums just to whine need to find anew hobby. There is nothing wrong with swtor it's just that most of the whiners want this and want that buy most importantly they want to be the best, and when that doesn't happen ohhh boy here come the tears! Seriously get over yourselfs and go get a life!
Im enjoying the game beyond my expectations. I knew I was going to enjoy the storyside, because I like most Bioware games. I also knew that I had to limit my expectations in terms of freedom in the game. Bioware games are usually quite lineair for rpg's.
But what I didnt expect is that this game got rid of some of my (WoW and LOTRO) petpeeves. A few examples are:
- Being able to sell in most combat areas, so you dont have to trod back just to clear your inventory. Or just send your companion to sell for you.
- No nodehunting if I dont feel like it ! I simply send my companions to do this.
- Nice questing flow in terms of placement (you always somehow stumble on them). I know that this is also because its so lineair. But this was already expected by me. The lack of having to travel back loads of time over the same road then really helps.
- The bonus missions are a nice way to deal with the typical kill x mobs. The way they automatically start when you first enter the area helps with my questing flow.
There are more of these tiny things that this game doesnt annoy me with like in some other mainstream MMO's.
The things I dont like :
- User Interface. Big and clunky! I hate it that chat is the top left corner! wtf! With all the quickslot bars and the rest of the interface, its almost as if Im peering through an anorak hood all the time. Kenny anyone?
- Republic fleet. A stupid large circle as main hub. Somehow they managed to make sure that players never hang around longer then they have to. This will never become a popular hub to hang out.
- Space missions. I tried to like this. But everytime when I want to go into a direction that I think is strategically better, I get pulled into a different direction. Rail space ftl! It makes me feel as if Im playing on an arcade machine on board of my ship.
So the guy that hates everything likes TOR? Your minions must be reeling lol
I sit on a man's back, choking him and making him carry me, and yet assure myself and others that I am very sorry for him and wish to ease his lot by all possible means - except by getting off his back.
Can you skip at least one TOR thread? Never seen such dedication.

I am really getting tired of this dude with a hidden agenda going on Themepark mmos talking about Sandbox. Newsflash big buy no one in here gives a flying crap about Sandbox and the mayority of the MMO market doesn't either, why do you think no one is making any big budget sandbox mmo's? BECAUSE NO ONE GIVES A CRAP!!
My two cents.
I give a crap about sandboxxes. I'm pretty sure a lot of other people do too. Maybe you should qualify your statement by saying something like 'People with IQ's under 100 probably don't give a crap about sandboxxes'. You know qualify your opinion with some other statistic that reflects the same proportion of the population.
Here's another example: people with APMs under 40 (also people who have no idea what an APM is) probably don't give a crap about sandboxxes.
Then your argument starts to make some semblance of sense. . .
Sounds like he'd crap his pants if he had to play EQ pre planes of power.
While the story is good on some classes, on others like consolar and knight it's really cliche. not to mention end game is exactly what you have been playing for 7 years on other MMOs.
Exactly the right tone to take for a review. You could tell Yahtzee even sort of liked SWTOR, (more than most MMORPG's) but still he made sure to keep it funny and mocking throughout.
Coyote's sort of a Yahtzee clone as I see it. With less accent.

I call BS. List 50 more. I bet you can name less then 5, any more would all be stupid varients of previous ones and not true weaknesses in themselves. The game is fun and imersive in a way no other is at this time. It's not perfect and has alot I would change but for what we have available to us it cannot be beat.
Wow, a Coyote write-up that I actually fully agree with, AND enjoyed reading? Didn't think that'd ever happen. I fully agree on every single point listed in this review. The space combat is just awful in TOR. I'd love to see a JtL styled expansion.
As for the scale, I think it's a good size, to really express how big the planet is supposed to feel. But, I also feel that speeders need to have their speed about doubled. I paid for a speeder and training at lvl 25 for a SPEEDer that doesn't even double my movement speed? And at 40, I wiped my bank account out and down to like 3k credits for more speeder training and a new speeder, so 265k credits, for a 10% speed upgrade? And at 50, that's like another 400k credits minimum (unless you are a cybertech) for another whole 10% speed upgrade?
And the market UI. I LOATHE YOU! But seriously, it's so horrendous, and poorly thought out, and you can't even search by individual slots, let alone stats or anything like that. And the one that bothers me the most, is the RESET button is right below the search. User error, but I can't tell you how many times I've set up all my filters on a search, only to hit the bottom of the Search button, only to have it register as the reset button. The UI in general is pretty piss-poorly done. Can't hide empty slots, can't move bars around. Only things you can move are the chat window, and the group/raid UI location. In a AAA MMO, seems kinda lazy. Fortunately, they are working on adding in UI customization in an upcoming patch, but no ETA on that particular feature.
The hell's wrong with you, Coyote? Didn't you get the memo? You're not allowed to like SWTOR. You're not allowed to find it fun. If you don't write a piece that totally reams it, you're a biased, favortistic pawn of the system!
You don't get to sleep with the bear, no matter how fuzzy, warm and adorable he is. YOU HAVE TO HURT IT with a large object or pour gasoline and set it on fire!

Aaawww, c'mon Coyote, I don't read your columns because I want "honest" game reviews, I read them because I want to LAUGH !
It's your duty to poke fun at things, make ridiculous claims and heap on the hyperbole. I would have expected you to list the space combat as the most awesome feature of TOR, for instance.
Its a good game.. very enjoyable. worth the cash.. anything else anyone rants about isnt worth reading.
Do you live in a world of absolutes ?
This MMO like every other MMO is not for everyone, just because you enjoy it does not mean everyone is going to think it is enjoyable or "worth the cash".
Personally about the only thing I enjoyed about playing SWTOR was the fact that it was Star Wars.

Totally agree. The worst is when you load for 30 seconds, then run through a shuttle bay for 20 seconds, then load on the planet for another 30 seconds.

Or you buy an SSD and get all warm and tingly inside everytime anybody complains about loading screens.
I enjoy my smug satisfaction whenever I hear the peasants whining about loading screens taking forever.

By far one of your worst piece... Really you should stick to your usual bitching. Much more enjoyable! Leave the reviews to the guys who do reviews.
Never trust a review that has the words 'an honest review' attached.
I mean that honestly.
no kidding
apparently the people who actually do the reviews cant get it right either..

Yes... Yes, it is.
There is no such thing as an unbiased opinion. It's an oxymoron.
Yes.. but it is honest ... and this means ... ahem exactly what?
