Besides it's amateurish studio, TCOS got run down by Frogster who didn't promote the game AT ALL, since they were to busy advertising ROM allover at that time. Later on, Frogster got into some legal hassle with the dutch dev-studio if i remember right.

Frogster ran it totally into the ground and the game never got a fair chance.

Frogster didn't want to host TCOS for whole Europe and started IP blocking within Europe itself! UK player for example, where forced to join US servers, which were hosted by another FAIL provider (ATARI).

So TCOS devs where forced to search for a second provider (forgot the name) to provide access for the remaining countries within Europe.

So before the game even launched, the whole TCOS community was torn apart by IP blocks and different providers within a single continent.

Lets just talk about Tera in its own board. There is no need to drag another game into thread.

Right, now that you say it i remember that IP-block stunt.

Later on, there was also Acclaim involved and gave everyone a hard time figuring out if the game was still up or shutdown already.

Frogster is the publisher of TERA in EU but the game is made by BluHole, in NA EnMasse is the publisher company.

Ok, whew.  So...are we getting any sneak peaks for NA?  Would love something to play while I wait on TSW or GW2.

If you pre odered the game you will be able to get to the beta weekends and the 1st beta weekend is next weekend so don't miss to preorder :)

Only in the gaming industry is something like this allowed to happen and forgiven..if this was any other medium they would be ripped to pieces. imagine what they could do with your credit card information.

I guess you weren't there with the Warhammer Online launch?
GOA completely messed up the Early Access, due to a horrible account system that didn't work!
They had to completely rewrite and come up with a new account system, which took them ages!
The account problems lasted pretty much through the whole first month.
Mark Jacobs himself had to come over to the European forums to calm people down, appologize and had some serious meetings with GOA (in the end it where Mythic employees who ended up helping out GOA getting their crap together and come up with an actually working account system).
Frogster is no better, if not worse than GOA.

I had no problems at release of WAR.

Why do you people buy or pre-order products not even officially released?

Why do you complain about it? Because "the devs said so"?
    Think about used cars.

"5 minutes till the eu event."  Famous last words?  ;D  It's like nine, or almost ten hours after the event was supposed to happen.  Now, I'm not going to complain...  But DAMN IT.  I was really looking forward to giving TERA a try today.  Hopefully they get it working and it's out tomorrow but for some reason I'm guessing that's not going to be the case.  Frogster is a terrible sham of a company.  I'm hoping the US release will be better handled.

I like to complain about games.

    Not true.

Sadly, banking industry is allowed to take your money, spend it on fat bonuses and then ask for more once it's all gone, while you lose your house, car and probably have to go to war to a country you cant even find on a map.

Big pharma is allowed to kill people with untested drugs and even put live aids viruses in vaccines. No reprisals there.

Also music industry is allowed to charge 20$ a cd with only one good song on it, and if you try not to pay for it they will send FBI to your house and you will end up in jail longer then some rapists and killers.

I agree gaming industry is far from perfect but saying that "this only happens in gaming" is simply not true. At least in gaming you can not give them your money when you don't like the product. With banking and big pharma you don't realy have a choice, do you? So let's not shoot poison darts at one of the rare industries that gives us at least something good (sometimes, I'll give you that) for our money.

No fate but what we make, so make me a ham sandwich please.

LOL I don't even...Well I am sure others will say something about this. I will just watch the drama unfold.

Listen, everyone here think Frogster are rather incompetent for messing this thing up and all of us who had access keys are upset, but sh*t happens and none of us actually paid for this.

You make it sound like it was launch day.

Eved tried one of Microsofts beta versions of Windows? Froggster are not the first company messing up a preview and they wont be the last but there really is a limit to how upset we should be when we havn´t actually paid anything.

As I see it Froggster should make this up to us some way, let´s see if they do. And I am talking about giving the people with keys access to the actual beta once it starts, not money.

  • zakiyawowzakiyawow Member UncommonPosts: 626

Those who are planning on playing on US servers should be happy actually. I am sure En Masse is taking extra steps to make sure their launch of beta goes smoothly after today's event.

    Edit :

If only they can sort out whatever problem they have that stops retails in NA listing CE editions.

Except some people did. After it was announced that if you preordered you would be able to participate in this weekend's Titanic peek. So basically some people did pay for this.

It was a publicity event and they failed to even launch the game. what do you suggest i do give them a pat on the back? Thats the problem with the mmo genre too much incompetence, if i showed such i would be fired.

This has kinda shaken my faith in how Frogster might handle the Eu game, Now if it goes well i'll not have to possibly choose an NA server. But my question is, would it be a reasonable idea that if Frogster does make a really big mess of the EU game, would I still be able to get much the same enjoyment playing on a NA server from the UK?

    Any suggestions/opinions would be welcomed

  • fenistilfenistil Member Posts: 3,005

While Frogster fuc.. up , let's not go doom and gloom over 1 day.   Imo.

I don't think you will have problem enjoy the game unless you get really high ping. That you should be able to find out during beta weekend. I would say its better to make a decision before you buy the game since you can't use EU version on US and vise versa. Unless you plan on spend on the game again.

En Masse is a new publisher so I have no experience with it. Frogster, I don't have good experience with it from Runes of Magic.

Well.. I think you should just boycot BHS like everyone else because the fckers broke Lineage III and stole NCSofts code.

I could have accepted it iperhaps f there was an good reason behind it... But when the reason was that the Lineage III project leader felt that he should get stock options, didn't get it and therefore conspired against NCSoft... I say fck you BHS. Puniest behaviour I have heard of in the gaming industry. I hope NY court tear TERA down, send the entire BHS crew to jail and returns the property to NCSoft.
