Sneak peek weekend canceled :(
The sneak peek event planned for this weekend unfortunately has had to be cancelled. As we currently cannot foresee when we will be able to guarantee a smooth running of the event, there is no new date as of yet. We're working closely with the TERA developers at Bluehole to fix the remaining issues.The cancellation was not due to load problems caused by the large number of potential players. Player numbers would have given us a look into possible issues within the scope of a stress test. Due to unforeseen reasons, problems arose already during the entry into the game world.
As soon as we have new information regarding a rescheduled event planning and once all technical issues have been resolved we will inform you on our website, in the forum and via the usual social media channels.
We apologize for the cancellation of the event and assure you that we are doing our utmost to provide all players access to TERA as soon as possible. We thank all TERA fans for their patience and understanding and hope to have positive news for you very soon.
Sad that it's not gonna happen. Lets hope next weekend they've fixed their issues.

Rather unfortunate that they are not telling us what kind of technical problems they have encountered. And I am actually wondering if the people over at Frogster know what technical problems they've encountered.
A bit of a disaster for them TBH, especially considering how many want to hate them anyhow. It's just given fuel to the flamethrowers.

They don't even know how many keys they provided for event , thats happens when company behinds f2p mmos trying to launch p2p mmo.

I honestly can say I don't understand your sense of humour.
I was a little sad to see this as I was looking forward to it. Now, I'm not one of those losing their minds over it, and it's more of an "ah well" thing, but the down side is this is not going to bode well for them. The unfortunate part of the MMORPG world today is something goes wrong, even a tiny thing and the self entitled whiners out there just create a snow ball of bad press about a game. It really is a shame that it is how things are, even when completely un-justified.
Indeed, stone set predjuces that last for years are formed in the first moments you show (or fail to show) your game.
And thats not even talking about the guys who arrive with their hate baggage intact, or the donkey's that bray from the cheap seats at other's misfortunes.
It really is a shame for Tera.

Other than some background drama like a lawsuit I would guess a major bug in recently localized content is the culprit. I wonder if the build planned for the event had some of the new changes from Korea and hence would have been localized just recently. That's giving everyone involved the benefit of the doubt of course as I would certainly hope they were testing long before this event.
Just not worth my time anymore.

Seems like you're exactly the person you're describing you don't understand only when it comes to games you yourself don't admire, looking at your posting and stance towards TOR :-)As for the sneak peek weekend canceled, kinda odd, I can't recall any last-minute canceling happening earlier with other MMO's as they've been doing here, not really good to make a first impression. Then again, whiners and haters will always make every mishap a huge thing and gloat or cry about it whether that's regarding TERA or TOR or WoW or any other game. And some people will be annoyed because they planned their free time this weekend to have been playing TERA. Then again, suck it up, it's not as if there won't be other beta weekends. Nothing really lost here when next time things go smooth and people can play.
Should I be worried I live in the EU and pre-ordered?

I honestly think it would have been better if it was load issue.
Problem with the database ? I would have thought they do some trail runs before the event. It is hard to imagine nothing shows up at trial runs.I also wonder why they don't have a backup system.
They also mentioned they were replacing hardwares ? how is that connect to the database issue ?
WIth all due respect, you DONT go around distributing keys and promising a sneak peek event and then cancel it due to your lack of foresight into the potential issues and inadequate handling of the situation.
This makes me not want to check it out anymore - literally. Companies should have more brains than that
So what happens come May 12th? Once you bought the game they will say you have to wait for another few months before they iron out the kinks that just 'happened" to pop up out of the blue?!
Even BW launched a faily smooth TOR while having zero experience with MMO and just getting their hands wet and these guys cant do it? That's a joke and im not laughing...

Hopefully EU can get decent pings to the NA servers. The EU publisher is amateur at best it seems, from past performance and now this.
Hopefully En Masse can do better, if not this game is dead in the water. They probably lost a good chunk of the EU players from this weekends fiasco. Does not inspire confidence when you cant pull off a two day ( 8 hours a day ) event with out the servers going balls up.
I had thought about preordering, was gonna see after this weekend. I still may pre order, but I will wait and see how the 1st CBT weekend comes off. Hopefully En Masse has taken note and has all their ducks in a row for next weekend.
Anyways good luck EU players. Hate to see what looks like a good game get tarnished by such a poor publisher =(
That's fine actually. The US version costs 50$ less a year than the EU version so I know where most Europeans wanted to play from the beginning anyway... even before this mess.
Interesting. I did not know its cheaper to play the US version. If the ping is good enough, I guess lots EU players will be on En Masse version.
Certainly an unexpected problem for a game that's been live in another part of the world for over a year.
Hopefully they'll pull it together soon.

Stayed up both nights (CET 15:00 is my local 1AM) and hoping for a peek.... well maybe this coming weekend then.
The only sad thing about this is the thousands of people that spent an entire weekend obsessively trying to log into this game, click,click,click,click,click.........
While preview and beta issues isn´t good for a game I never seen it actually kill a game.
You can´t compare it with a bad launch.
But still, saying that too many players wanted to try it is retarded, they gave out the keys so they should beforehand know exactly how many players that would try the game. The whole thing seems rather incompetent even if the evil demon of demos have a habit of showing his face in stuff like this.
The 12 month bundle will limit the monthly fee to 8.95$ in the US and to 9.99€ in the EU.
That is quite a difference. Especially if 9.99 is not VAT included. Who knows, maybe ping would actually be good if the servers are at the right location.
