Maybe US version will have to be patched heavily after instalation?

maybe. but i remember the EU install allocated 20+ Go at the start of the download, i cant remember all that well. I still think they shrinked the US install

Claiming we should't blame Frogster for the sneak peak failure is pointless if their record provides no reason to think they can ever handle this. And even if they do it also indicates that they will miss-handle it in the long run. BH lost a large number of customers by choosing Frogster.

Does anyone know anything about En Mass?

/sigh... no new word from Frogster yet about a reschedule?

I bet they hold it this weekend, when I have to go see my dad ><

Probably big chunk of EU playerbase go play in US if this will be possible, less monthly costs and no company with bad rep publishing and handle game in US.

Its not first time Frogster fails and now they turn game into "TERA Offline" in EU.

Mmh.. not me yet. In case of the US version I am a more worried about the lawsuit next to a totally unknown publisher. With the EU version I may have a bad publisher, but I myself didn´t experience many bad things with Frogster yet.
Same goes to GOA: many people complain about GOA, but I was pleased with them. DAoC worked, WAR (at release, not pre-release) worked, Pangya worked, when I played these games.

Looks like everything is set and settled, the test worked great, the DB held strong and they also got a working queue system implemented. Since the US version will basicly use the same system, everything looks good for the US CBT.

Tera US client doesnt yet have the High Res textures.  Here's the post in the En Masse Forums :-

And cant believe Tera EU are running another server test today and im gonna miss it for being at work... :(

Frogster had damn well better have a sneak peak this weekend to make up for not only the last one but also that we in the EU dont get CB1 till the 17th.

And this little test can't have been much of one, given few of us knew about it, and it didn't last long.

Or I will be annoyed, isn’t that enough? I'm already encouraging others to boycott TERA EU and play on the US servers, (not that people need any encouragement once they find out Frogster are in charge), so I guess I can't threaten them with much more, but if they want to see any of the contents of my bank account they'd better start impressing me. We’ve had enough bad news on this game in the last 2 yrs.

I am when I am faced with yet another pre-order I will regret, in the last 2 yrs we've had so many mmo disasters, from STO or G & H, to FFXIV, to Xyson, to Swtor (re: it's pvp at least), that’s a lot of cash wasted, and if TERA is going to give me yet another case of buyer's remorse, I may give up on mmos altogether, as we have seen so many others do on these forums, I mean, can you blame them?

TERA seems more doomed than even the others did, with companies literally trying to destroy it, and Frogster, the worst service provider in Europe giving me no reason to be confident, no matter how much I enjoy the watching the game's footage. (damn that is so much better to look at than the eyesore that was swtor's "art" style). At this rate Gw2 may be the only good mmo of the year, as Rift was last year, (though hopefully we shouldn’t feel like we are stuck with the best of the worst this time).

Well after playing the U.S test it certainly seems like they've moved servers to maybe Texas, my ping isnoticeably different.

Already seen Zotics running around, looks like it'll be SC's next game

Well, after 10 hrs solid, I can give my first impressions

    Pros:

The combat requires you to stay awake, and be situationaly aware, makes a change. It really is skill based, I was almost able to solo the first boss you meet, and at lvl 12 I took on a lvl 22 mob, and after a very long fight, dodging and CCing I was just able to win.

The graphics are not only the best of any mmo, but run very smoothly, (apart from the capital at times, with slow fps and certain npcs loading in slowly).

The music, combat fx and ambient sounds are just right.

The controls are good, if using keyboard and mouse, but seemed off when using control pad.

The social hubs and mechanisms seem to work well, lots of dualing, and other activities.

    Cons:

The main attack using left mouse button needed to be mashed a great deal, maybe better using control pad, but then you have issues with the other attacks, camera positioning, and targeting.

The quests are all kill 10 rats, with redundant npc conversations, (a common problem in westernised mmos).

The world outside the directed quest areas are empty, and feel unfinished, after I got my horse I explored randomly around the capital, no critter, mobs, but the occasional building, or npc, with seemingly no function.

There are two mini maps, one a radar with blips, and no environment details, the other for quest, npc navigation, taking up a 4th of the screen, not very efficient.

Certain quests areas are not shown on the maps, and can be confusing, a great many people where constantly asking for directions all the time.

The area chat was full of non-english conversations, this may get on player's nerves, hopefully there will be seperate servers for English, Frence, German etc, and at least at this time, many, many nonsense spamming trolls made their presence felt, worse chat I’ve seen ever. People you meet in the open world however are very nice.

All in all, TERA is a mix of old and new, new combat around a dated questing formula, it will be interesting to see how many prefure this from other new mmos that have it the other way round, such as RIft, Swtor and GW2.

You can hold down the left mouse button for continuous damage. Not much button smashing on my end. In fact, way better than shitty old tab target system.

Maybe someone who could explain more about this? To me it seems as if that has its function and it may be tied to the lore. I didn't get that far through the Velika quests. Looks like a big nice area to have non-instanced housing as well or major PvP battles.

Have you ridden around to the other zones? There are no walls or instances blocking your path like in certain other games which cost a fortune to make. image

It's been confirmed there will be more server types. We'll have servers for English, German and French at release. I too was highly annoyed by the Area chat but one musn't forget, many of the chat trolls did not pre-order. They are freeloaders. Upcoming betas will only have people who pre-ordered or won a key through other means, not really give-aways.

When I played swtor and Rift all it was was  x amount quests, what do you mean they were different? GW2 will be the same thing, just because it has random 'rifts', like in Rift which weren't even that fun, doesn't mean it's a new formula. TERA is even implementing that random event thing although I don't see why because who wants more pve. You'll be happy to know Blade&Soul has kill x amount quests too.

For me TERA's questing and open world PVE lacked the innovative features from those other mmos, I loved the rifts and invasions, especially when they took over quest hubs, they helped to make the open world feel alive. Maybe not a major step up, but better than nothing, though yes the quests themselves were mundane, it’s this combination of the regular and dynamic that liked.

In swtor, yes the quests can be broken down into fetch, kill 10 etc, but the story, presentation, npc interaction before and after each quest, and the fact that the kill 10... quests where optional bonuses really helped to make the PVE more immersive, I found that I missed talking npcs and the cut scenes in TERA. As for GW2, we can only imagine how the open world PVE questing will be, but they are definitely trying to introduce new mechanisms, that apply to all the content, TERA is focusing on innovating the combat, not anything else for open world questing, and BH clearly haven’t got the polish on their quests that we are used to from western mmos. And then there is WoW, I much prefer the mini-game, vehicle, and other fun variety in the cata-outland and northrend quests to just kill 10...

You may disagree with the results of these innovations, but at least they are trying.

The point however is that TERA may be able to get away with the rudimentary questing as the combat is more involving, I certainly intend to try out every class, and cannot wait for closed beta, so I am convinced, but how many others will be? Given how much is riding on a western success, it is an important question.

As to who wants more PVE? How about most mmo players? PVP is either a niche focus outside of FPS mmos, or something for endgamers, you need a lot of good PVE, to keep people past the first month, too flesh out the world, it’s this lack of it that has cost so many other mmos, western and eastern, it is what people see in the game first, it is the glue that hold everything together in open world. Many people need to be coaxed into pvp, after becoming familiar with the world, and their class, not have it forced on them, as was a complaint with AION for e.g.

Thanks, I really wish i had known that earlier, I havn't the fingers i once did. I hope this applies to sorc, which class where you?

I was thinking of housing too, but it would be a major pain to implement I imagine, just some trees, and mobs would do for now. Its a bit odd they didnt flesh out the area, as the first thing some players would do it ride off randomly when they first get the mount.

Oooh, force-burn. I didnt get to do much after lvl 12, hopefully my toon will not be deleted so i can explore more during CB1. For me open world is everything, I may play C9 for e.g. but never spend any money on it.

Good to know, I really hate ending up in a pug with a tank that can't speak english, been happening in WoW a lot lately for some reason. I know the trolls will go after launch, but I worry about the first impression they set for the other would-be buyers.

I really hope we get to play more before CB1, I find I miss it already.

I was warrior this time around, as I'm planning on making a warrior my main. It applies to all the classes, as far as I can remember.

    Feel the burn lol.

Someone else made a thread in these subforums with pictures of him just going off exploring as soon as he was able to get to Velika. Not sure if you saw it ^^

"I find I miss it already."

I know what you mean :) It easily feels like home to me. Of course I'm also anxiously waiting for the rest of the titles in my sig.

I saw somewhere that the En Masse servers will let America,Europe and Austrilia play together on full release, is that true?

@noireblackheart There is no ip block for those regions, it's the same on our side for those regions, no block for these countries.

@TeraEurope Sorry for asking again, but does this mean we will be able to play with America and Australia when the full release is out?

@noireblackheart They can play on our servers, if the choose to buy the EU version. If you want to play on US server ->EME account is needed.
