This goes to show you how well Trion has done and how amazing they have made Rift what it is today. Not a single vote for them is a great sign or a terrible sign for every other developer. Its pretty obvious which MMO is the currently at the top of its game and that is Rift.

I just can not get around voting for anyone else but Cryptic with the words "worst developer in the business" in the title. In my opinion you needed to include Cryptic if you put Funcom and Turbine in the poll they are in the same ball park. Cryptic took one of the holy grail IP's and gave us STO easily one of the worst MMO's ever......
I would have to say that FIRST you have to establish what a "AAA developer" really means. Is it a developer that pushes out more then one game a year? Is it a developer that has had at least one, two or three "hits" that were games but not maybe MMO's?Is it someone that is published by a mega-corp like EA or Warner or Sony? Is it anyone that is in not in Europe or Asia? Is it anyone not in the U.S.? What is the criteria?
Not surprising that SoE is getting the most votes, kind sad though. Consider that SoE is the only company on the list who has really ever taken any risks in the genre and they may not have worked, but at least they are trying.

Games wouldn't have cash shops if there wasn't a demand for them, so place the blame where it really belongs, your fellow gamers.

sadly i have to admit that you are right.....as for myself, i never buy these item but its realy F***** up that when i buy single player games (example dirt 3) i need to buy the extra cars.....in the old days they where included in my racing game.
So i spend 40€ for half a game these days.....if i want the other cars it will cost me about 80€ on top of that.
So i uninstalled it (altough i liked the game) out of protest.....but i guess i am one of the fiew who isnt paying up.

Hmmm . . . NCsoft developed City of Heroes in conjunction with Cryptic, bought out Cryptic and then set up a studio (Paragon Studios) to keep developing CoH, but still owned them. I would call NCsoft a developer based on that.
Anyways, I would say SOE is the all time WORST developer in the last decade. If SWG and FFIV don't convince you, then Sony's complete lack of security for their online customers should.

I voted Failcom. The only SOE MMO I bothered playing was EQ2, but my issues with that game were about personal taste. Failcom really messed up with their launch of AoC. I doubt TSW can fix that.
To be honest I only consider two MMOs to be AAA, at least based on launch. Those are WOW and SWTOR. The rest have much smaller budgets and less prestigious developers. That doesn't make the other MMOs worse, they just didn't have the development might/dollars behind them to be considered AAA titles. It looks like GW2 may fit the bill though.
Turbine is on my list of crappy developers, but only starting with the SoM expansion for LOTRO. Things have gotten progressively worse since then.
Trion sounds like a great company as far as customer service goes, but all they did was copy WOW. I was already sick of WOW when Rift was launched.

I put SOE first because of SWG. I agree though with Turbine second. How can you have a game based on LOTR and not be a huge success.

Rift was a refined WoW. WoW is popular, thus so is Rift. All I said was that Trion is the least terrible of the developers listed.
