For every Wikipedia, there are 10000 failure. You may devote precious time to try but i am not that naive. But sure, if the OP tries and fail, no harm to you and me, right?
Have to remember that there's still one success. Know how many successes there are from the ones that never started because there was a chance of failure?
And what is wrong with all consumption and no production? Do you watch movie? Do you complain about bad movies? Are you going to make your own movie if you complain? I think not.
I think I'll cut this line out and leave it sitting here

WIth all of the crap out there these days I have been seriously considering it. Well writing one at least!

aT games is listening, and they are promising big things for StarQuest Online. DX11 Graphics WASD movement, and tons of bugfixes. I would settle for the bug fixes and an improved economy. Did I also mention that they are going F2P soon and wiping the server?
"I am not in a server with Gankers...THEY ARE IN A SERVER WITH ME!!!"

I tend to agree with OP. I used to game because there were huge worlds to explore, fun to be had. Now, honestly I am waiting for a game ot com ealong and grab my attention like SWG die, like L2 did, like EQ2 did. I realize there are a lof of games out there, and that I have not played all of them but everyone I try, with the exception of SWTOR (its worse than bad) just get old real fast. Like I am playing the same game, just a slightly different setting.
SWTOR...for all the cash they dumped into that abortion, is just horrible. It had 2 things going for it, story and voice acting, and they both get old real quick for me.
Bottom line. Someone needs to shake up on-line gaming, really crush the borders and step away from the norm. People (devs) use the themepark model because its what worked for Blizz back then. They took the best of what was out, made it easy to play, child friendly colors, and bam best game ever. Anyway, it won't happen, no one makes games based on fun anymore, they make them based on their profit margin.
If you want a new idea, go read an old book.
In order to be insulted, I must first value your opinion.
The only game on the horizon is ArcheAge and that won't hit western shores until they localize it, after finding a publisher.
Mid-2013 at best. In meantime, i'll just try Secret World, then Planetside 2 as i don't have the usual expectations of those, just that they are different.
I was going to pre-order Tera last week and looked into GW2...but then i gave myself a big bitch-slap of realism in the face and thought "what am i doing, you know what these games are".
So even though the combat in Tera looks ace and the gameplay of GW2 looks ace, i know they are just the same thing i have dumped before, just "NEW".

Seems kinda like a less awesome SWG/EvE hybrid.
Themeparks sell better and reach a larger audience then hardcore sandboxes. All about dem benjamins, yo.
Sounds like the only way your going to get the game you want is to make it yourself.
