Whats the least interesting things about GW2 from your point of view?

not to be confused with something bad, I asked for "least interesting".

maybe at a later time, Anet can fluff out those areas that are found least interesting, before release.

when we have weeks without any news =(

That's a diffucult question to answer seeing that all of us have only "read" about these features, and have not actualy played them. You can make anything SOUND fun on paper. But is the reality of that actualy fun.

So I guess from the stand point of just reading about GW2, I would have to say the least intersting part of the game I have read so far is either the underwater combat, or the personal story. Since im not big on solo play I will probably avoid that content unless its 4am and none of my guildies are on.

The way mmo's were: Community, Exploration, Character Development, Conquest.

The way mmo's are now : Cut-Scenes,Cut-Scenes, solo Questing, Cut-Scenes...

For me that would have to be the Scout System ArenaNet had to implement, for the poor lost souls that need a bit of hand holding, along their journey. The only good thing about it is that it's optional.

    For me, instanced dungeons...

I look forward to the open world events, hoping they do it better than the previous attempts, and I really am looking forward to the WvWvW if it is done nicely...I am personally tired of instances, so that would be what comes to mind...Not saying they will suck, just tired of it.

    Edit:

Sorry, it would be the arena esport stuff, also tired of scenarios, but I have always found arena type 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 stuff boring in a mmo, I prefer open world stuff with objectives and such...If I want arena type stuff, I will play like MW3 or something like a FPS.

    The leveling curve.

I might get hated for this but I think the grind is important in mmos.

Though we'll see, if it still takes at least a few months to get a max level char then it'll be alright.

I don't want one week bullshit though.

without question it is all the reporter wannabe's looking to make a name for themselves by being the first to point out the flaws in GW2

    nothing but boring

    Charr: Outta my way.
    Human: What's your problem?
    Charr: Your thin skin.

    The economics.

As far as I know it's not exactly a sandbox economy with player driven shops and what not.

No real world pvp, no faction or race pvp, belonging to multiple guilds, gear is mostly visual, stats not so important in a fight, instanced pvp is donne with people wearing the same level gear, high level chars go to a low level zone and become a low level char so there is no sence of becopming stronger to kill mobs easyer, these and more features in GW 2 suck imo.

..Combat system looks cool in theory just like tera also looks cool, but in reality is a pain in the butt, there is nothing like the old fashion tab target system like wow, that imo has the best system for an mmorpg to be fun and easy enough to play and can be hard to master and become a fast skilled pvper.

  • RizelStarRizelStar Member UncommonPosts: 2,773

Well I could say gripes, when I play the auto turning from creatures was annoying.

The scout system but it is optional.

I disliked the targetting but it seems they added another option from the recent pvp screenshots so that's taken care of.

Less interested in water content I didn't get to try it out in the Char area was so overwhelmed :/.

I'm not afraid to tell trolls what they [need] to hear, even if that means for me to have an forced absence afterwards.

the least interesting thing so far, or i should say the only thing so far that im not interested in, is the decision to have map teleporters instead of mounts. But it will not affect my game experience although i would have more fun with mounts.

The fact that right now structured PvP has only 1 gameplay mode.  They could give us some more options and have it still be very e-sport worthy.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

    hehehe nice try, pal....

by the way.... if you are high level and you go to a low level area it is the best thing to get scaled to that area to keep having a challenge anywhere you go.... why would you want to one shot things in low level areas as lvl 80? tahts not fun at all.... you dont want to become stronger to kill mobs easier, you want the neverending challenge to keep the game fun and actively keeping you focused to avoid dying.....

The absolute least interesting thing about GW2 remains the same in the 2 years now that I've followed it's development. Just my OP but hands down it's the MMO Gypsies that wander into Forums across the web and bombard them with Why isn't more like or doesn't have feature(s) from brand X MMO!

No matter how anyone attempts to explain/point out GW2's features or development rationale/goals a lot just gripe & moan for it to include mounts, have open world PvP, this that or the other dumb thing!  The time has come to say hey guys.... This just not Yo Mama's MMO! If ya just gotta have brand X features - by all means, go play it vice GW2!!

That said, what interests me Most about GW2 is that it is not a cookie cutter or clone of anything else.  It's designed from the ground up to provide Us with ample challenges, adventures, and rewards no matter what your preferred playstyle is. Anyone who leaves other MMO features, Skinnerisms, and baggage behind when they hit the Login screen should enjoy GW2 immensely!

This game could seriously fall flat on its face if we, the players, chose to spend all of our time in instanced PvP matches and spamming LFG for instanced dungeon runs...

The popularity and of course implementation of the open world PvE and PvP content is going to determine whether this game is a huge sucess or another disappointment in a long line of over-hyped titles.

All of the above is why I am looking forward to GW 2.

It's hard to find a 'least interesting thing' for me as I am looking forward to everything.

Also without playing the game it's hard to distiquish what is fact and what if fiction from what the devs say. (Far too many games' developers elabourate the truth when talking about their 'brand-spanking-innovative' game.  I'm not saying ArenaNet are lying but let's wait and see.

Thats just stupid if i cant feel any kind of progression why bother lvling to begin with?

Maybe i would want to 1shot stuff because i am farming something  i need for crafting and since the mobs are lvl 10 and i am 50 (just as example) there really is no reason why i whouldnt be able to kill them easy.

That said i have to confess i didnt even know that this is in the game but knowing it now it sure as hell qualifys for the 1 thing that would be least interesting for me.

I disagree. In Rift, it has many instances, but it still have a great population for Persistent Events. Both for Instant Adventures and invasions.

that shows Persistent World Events work out even with instances

Guild Wars is much more a game about choosing how you want to play and having fun with it - not being "better" than everyone else like most gear-driven MMOs.

One big thing is that you only have a certain number of active skills, so you have to create and experiment with different builds.

You could have dozens of different abilities as you level up, but you can only use a certain number in your active build.

It's much more like building a deck - more cards = more options and more variety / better customization.

With most MMOs, a low level players has a hand with only 5 cards in it, while the high level has a hand with 14 cards.

Who is going to have an easier time getting a winning hand?

The point of progression in Guild Wars games is to unlock all the possible cards, and then play and experiment and discover new and fun ways to build different hands.
