I watched the first few seconds and was immediatly angst by her incredibly irritiating over the top cheesy gestures and facial expressions.
Why act like that? It shows no sincerity or proffesionalism at all. I know they are just games, but theres no need to act as if everyone watching is 10 years old
As for the content of the review... well, its like as if she hasnt actually played the game at all and has very little actual gaming expierience. It was good to see some live footage but the actual review is very misleading.
I'll definatlly be avoiding this faux game reviewer in the future.
To the folks that say that they would not group with her....I call BS sir. You know you would indeed group with her and attempt to flirt with her over vent. Hey, just sayin. I think she does pretty well in explaining many of the likes and dislikes she has for the game. I enjoyed your review Pokket, keep up the good work.

Lmfao have you played this game? Skill and Strategy is ALL ABOUT firing off the correct skills at the correct time in this game. Thats what makes it so unique and good and why its called "real action mmo". (EX. If you use a charge up skill towards me, im going to dodge, if you're then able to cancel that skill when i dodge, it doesnt hurt you for using that skill which would make it dulled down) The combat system all all about dodging and using skills are the right time and accurately. This game isnt tab target and button mash skills, if you've played this game you would understand thats how you get owned. That kind of mechanic doesnt have a place in this game.

Moving on, her title states "Beta Impressions". Just because you THINK its a review doesnt make it one. It clearly states BETA IMPRESSIONS. Keyword IMPRESSIONS. You don't seem to read at all?
Lastly, just because I disagree with your weak arguments (And basically shove them) does not make me a WoW and Pokket fanboy.
So that's the result of sharing one's opinion on the net? It takes guts, being ready to face that torrent of filth. If only for that, Pokket gets my respect. That aside, well, her opinion's her opinion, and everybody's entitled to one. She's also a player trying a game, how'd you expect her to know every rope of the game? It's, and I'll put it in bold, a First Impression of a Beta. People, really?
Anyway. I'll expose mine own opinion on Tera (I don't care that you don't care - I'll probably forget about that topic as soon as I click "post" and will never know if anybody even reacted to it):
I don't mind eastern visuals at all, but Tera's too "bright and cheerful" for me I'm afraid (especially knowing it was darker before, and they "brightened" it to please people. Facepalm, as I don't care about people, I only care about myself). And I hate the over the top high fantasy "armors". Got nothing against scantily-clad chicks, but frills everywhere, even on males, I dislike. Doesn't click with me.
As I'm kindda fed up with the usual MMO gameplay, its combat is a big plus for me (I love vindictus for that one reason, I gather it's a bit like that). But, well, it also seems Blade&Soul is going to be the same, but better (at the very least, it's at least a bit dark). A (mmo)rpg doesn't NEED to be tab+1-2-1-2-5, nor does it need to be Street Fighter Online. Skyrim proves that well enough, no? On a side note, I'd kill for a The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel. One can dream, right?
I'm going to be on my own there, but I'll also be bold and say I dislike how far back you can pull the camera. That kindda stuff is a mood killer, you're so distanced from your character, he's not "you" anymore, if you get what I mean. Nothing close and personal anymore. Then again, I'm a aloony who tried to play WoW in "1st person view". I want more RPG in my MMORPG. I'm not sure people even remember what RPG means anymore, these days.
I cant help but wonder how many of these posters would be singing an entirely different tune if Pokket were unattractive, or a dude.
I still haven't seen the video (still at work, dammit!) but you never see people flock to defend an opinion of just another random poster like I've seen here.
Not everyone freaks out over a female playing a video game on the internet. Or is so disrespectful that you can't just let them play the game without being a object to flirt with. I'll group with people who have the skills to win in pvp, otherwise your gone.. I don't care if your [insert some sexy supermodel's name here] if you suck, your gone. Her video obviously has lots of flaws, they've been pointed out.. and I agree with most of the negative here, the positive here is she is probably better than the casual gamers, but that means nothing when you give bad info on a site like this.
Again, I'm more interested in people being good company than good players. These are games after all. I couldn't care less if Pokket or anyone else in an MMO is male or female, I dont play MMOs to hit on women. But if they're pleasant and fun to group with, even if they aren't the best player, I'll be happy to adventure along side them.
I'd rather like the people i'm with than to win all the time. Besides, a fun person who isn't very good can always get better. A d-bag is always gonna be a d-bag, though.

Depends on what kind of person you are, I don't care for PVE, never really been a big fan of it. I like to PVP, its competative and that is what keeps me interested in games. Yes I know, go play CS, right? I play FPS games, but it is a lot more static than a MMO with open world action. So I play to win, as well as most other people (very obvious from all the hand me out acheivments and participation trophy awards you all get now) be it in PVE or PVP. So if you are a baddie, you get the boot... the little time I get to play these days being a dad and such, I don't want to play with bad players.
That may be what you prefer, but I wouldn't be so quick to say thats how most people feel.
Why not remove what the review is about and simply have it called "Pokket reviews something, come watch her act on camera." Because that's what these flipping threads always end up being about. Pokket this, Pokket that...man, pok this.
I have no clue why people are reviewing the review (or reviewing someone elses review of the review.)
The questing, grind, artwork and style all look like every other free to play/cash shop MMO. It looks as if they simply tailored this to a western style subscription model. As to hype for the game, there isn't any. It will launch, grab as much cash as it can from release/subs for a year then go free to play/cash shop would be my guess. The only thing different in this game from every other korean cash shop game is the combat system. I don't see that as enough reason to sub to this game. If you like this style of animation and questing, just pick up any of the other 100 free to play mmos out there.
I am envisioning that somewhere in Korea is a big warehouse looking building. When you go inside you see what looks like an old sewing sweatshop, but instead of women sewing you see a bunch of 20 something dudes in front of computers grinding out yet another formulatic MMO. They look up at you briefly, then get back to business. Maybe that is why they put grinding in all their games. It is payback to the players for the toil they have to endure for our amusment.

Funny. People say the exact same thing about SW:TOR. Imagine that. Only instead of the warehouse argument, they used the "flashed 200M down the toilet to make that".
Raids only seem to be there for the content locust players who gobble up game MMO contents faster than the devlopers can release. Then complain there is nothing for them to do at max level.
I like the fact MMO's are once again moving away from Raids and concentrating more on world pvp and in some new MMO's in devlopment perma-death.
That may be what you prefer, but I wouldn't be so quick to say thats how most people feel.
Sure people love to explore, and socialize. But if you die non-stop doing it (not winning) people will give it up. That is why we have the kind of MMOs we have these days.
I'm not disputing you for the opinion you have, but neither you nor I speak for everyone.
So you mean to tell me if I made videos of myself claiming to be a great driver of cars with manual transmissions (i.e., stick shifts), you would give me a pass if I made a "first impression" video of myself driving some new model car and, all the while, I kept grinding the gears while I drove it? That's what I feel like I'm seeing in her video (i.e., somebody who claims to have gaming background who doesn't know how to do some very BASIC things like changing camera view).
It is HIGHLY SUSPECT that she claims to have played Aion (and a bunch of other MMO's), but she apparently doesn't know how to change the camera view. Anybody with *any* amount of experience with some of the big AAA titles can generally figure out how to change the camera of a new title within 5 minutes of playing it as long as it follows pretty standardized controls (which it appears TERA does).
It's not expecting her to "know every rope of the game" at all (nice strawman there, btw). It's being surprised and calling bullshit when she doesn't know how to operate one of the most basic controls. It's seeing past her gender and actually questioning the so-called "content" of what she has to offer.
Again, would you trust my "impressions" of a new model car if the entire time I drive it I grind the gears and keep stalling it...? Do I really know what I am talking about if I can't even shift properly (something that, after you learn how to do it, becomes almost second nature)...?
Or, are you going to wake up and realize that MAYBE my claims of knowledge about driving all kinds of (manual transmission) cars don't make sense because anybody who can drive a stick will eventually figure out how to shift properly on a new car, even if they screw up a few times at the beginning while adjusting to an unfamiliar clutch...? I know what I would think if a person with background driving sticks can't drive one worth a shit, even if it's a new model. Some things don't require a lot of time to pick up if you already know how to do them from past experiences.... =/
P.S. @BizkitNL -- She calls it a "review" at one point.... Just look at the last sentence in her own post (#96)....
Couple things about this "first impression" video:
- The event you participated in was the first CLOSED beta test. Twas not an open beta, sweetheart, try to get your facts straight BEFORE you post them for all the interwebs to see. It will result in you getting flamed less.
- Before you post a video review (for that is really what this was), please, for the love of all that is holy, write a script and practice it a little bit. Again, this will help reduce the amount of flaming you must endure.
- I understand that people might be tired of the kill/collect/interact/escort/talk to quests. My question is what would people rather see? Additionally, how can so many people praise the questing of SWTOR when it is the exact same kill/collect/interact/escort/talk to crap that is in EVERY other MMO out there?
- You complain about the inability to cancel abilities and then complain about not having an ability queue. That makes me laugh. Tera combat is all about positioning and timing. If you had an ability queue you would probably just be complaining about how you're constantly having to sit through abilities you can't cancel.
- You complain about ability delay yet you play SWTOR. That game STILL has some of the worst ability delay I've seen and they've released multiple patches aimed at fixing that. It may seem that I'm trying to downplay whatever ability delay you noticed but I promise I'm not. Just wondering if you could maybe tell us how bad this "slight hesitation" is compared to SWTOR's.
- I am a smidge curious how, at level 17, you only have about 4 abilities bound?
- You complain about boss fights being almost boring with the, "avoid X, avoid Y, fight boss, avoid A, avoid B, fight boss," statement. Again, my question is, what more do you want?! Especially since you're looking at less than the first half of the game. Already Tera has given me WAY more than any other tab target, 1234 spam, move occasionally boss fights of other games.
In closing, I found most of your points either inaccurate or non-issues. The ineptitude you displayed in the short game-play clips from Tera make me feel bad for the actually decent female gamers as well as ruin whatever credibility you may have had. Write out a script, check your facts, practice the script, and once it's all recorded, edit it in such a way that makes you sound like the professional you seem to want to be.
Funny how so many people come into new MMORPGs and always expect Raid content at level cap. Games like TERA and Guild Wars 2 will have a hard time converting such people, to their own forms of Endgame.
But wasn't there a discussion about a study that showed only a fraction(the number was below 12% I think) of people in MMO's who actually ever do raids?
And of those 12%, at least 95% makes 800% more noise than the other 88%.
is she sucking on something to help her not choke while talking? what kinda voice rock is this? I want to market it with her and call it pokket drop (paint it blue of course) gimme a call.. lets do this!!
This game is about skill and accuracy, if you need to cancel and ability you shouldnt have used it when you did. THAT IS HOW THIS GAMES STRATEGY WORKS. If this game had skill canceling it would make the combat lame and less strategic. If you're also button mashing in this game, you're going to be terrible at the game.
Skill and strategy do not just involve firing off the correct spell at the correct time, they also involve correcting yourself. So that's just a silly thing to say. Borderline fanboyism too.
I give this review a 6/10 and thats being polite

Offcourse it matters what you do and when you do it, but when the situation changes the moment you do what you do, you have to be able to change and adapt your action. Your first post implied this isn't the case when it comes to having "skill", which is an outright lie. I also never even mentioned WoW's combat style, so I have no idea where you get that idea from.
Lmao! My arguements arent weak, because that is how the game is designed and its that way for a reason. Im mearly explaining the reason its designed that way making my argument infact not an argument and TRUE FACT. You obviously have no experience in this game so you're basing your arguement off assumptions and ignorance. EVERY power skill in the game has a "follow through" if melee or "knock back" for ranged after using them. If you could cancel skills in this game it would break it, it would never work, that kind of mechanic doesnt work in this design of a game. To think it could is un-experienced and ignorant. Play the game and understand the mechanics and you would see that if you could cancel a skill this games pvp would be basic and dull.
Oh and just because i think Pokkets review is bad and disagree with it, doesnt mean im a TERA fanboy. Your words not mine, oh brilliant one.
You can "lable" anything what you want review, impression it doesnt matter because what matters is how you present it. She labled it a impression and did a review. If you cant understand that you sir are lame in the head and proves why you cant understand simple facts.
The game actually seemed kind of interesting -- once I turned the volume off. The vacuous commentary was more distracting than insightful. At least the character creator featured pretty girls instead of the usual beefcake brickfaces that the boys always seem to go with. +1 for that.
Oh God! This game looks so "Asia" it is so NOT appealing to me because of that, it is not even funny.... :-(
Well it is produced in Asia so not sure why you are surprised. That being said, I dont appreciate the style either, much prefer GW 2.
I rather like the eastern style. Living in the US, I'm bombarded constantly with purposely ugly, morbid, or dreary-looking characters and environments that the kiddies these days seem to think are "bad-ass". Seems the only ones making worlds filled with life and beauty these days are our neighbors in the east.

And of those 12%, at least 95% makes 800% more noise than the other 88%.
And we experience the result every day.

My gaming blog
I rather like the eastern style. Living in the US, I'm bombarded constantly with purposely ugly, morbid, or dreary-looking characters and environments that the kiddies these days seem to think are "bad-ass". Seems the only ones making worlds filled with life and beauty these days are our neighbors in the east.
Horrible review....
just remember pokket, these kids have comprehension skills of a 2 year old...
