Don't think they'd go with a story-heavy game though. Blizzard games have typically focused on gameplay while minimizing story (either presenting it in rare high quality cutscenes or by having it take place around you while you're playing the game, and apart from that it's highly skippable or passive.)
Though it'd also be unlikely Blizzard would make an outright WOW 2, given EQ2's lackluster performance at trying something along those lines.

WoW 2, absolutely not, the MMO market has been stagnent enough the past few years because of WoW, not knocking Wow, you cant take that success from Blizzard even if they did copy all the good bits from every other MMO. But the genre needs to move forward, we as players need to adapt and welcome new innovations. Developers need to stop looking at WoW as a standard, they need fresh, innovative ideas from their teams, brainstorm, instead of following one mans idea.
Adding Bioware's single-player RPG storytelling to WoW or any other MMO would make it worse, not better.
I'd play a real WoW 2, but not what you described.
So you think it stupid if each Zone in WoW had its own full voiced story line that you could make decisions in?
Yes.
Especially when you do repeatebles, like dailies and hardmodes/heroics. The little dialogs grow old, really old. not to mention in Swtor you do get 3 choises but it has zero impact on your mission in the end.
So no choices is better then choice?
Its offical for me, MMORPG.com forums is the worst place you'd wanna find ideas on how to develope an MMO.
TY all for your time.
its a good place for ideas, but to me it seems you dont want a discussion, it seems to me you just want people to agree.
Swtor gives 3 choises but you still dont really have any controll over the outcome. It doesnt effect game play nor the story line. I rather have devs spending time and resources on other things other then a cutscene you end up space barring, especially when you reach the level cap.
The conversations really do get anoying in hardmodes, it was cute the 1st time through but after the 2nd, 3th 50th time it gets beyone old.
You do your daily quests, tapping the space bar blindly mashing 1 , 2 or 3 just to get the mission.
People are only saying no because of the current state of WoW.
Blizzard made an MMO that forever changed the market. It made the market much bigger and raised the bar to heights the MMO market wouldn't have seen for years and years if it wasn't for Blizzard.
Games like AoC or WAR would have been seen as huge successes if it wasn't for WoW.
Every single MMO out there is still being compared to WoW although WoW is 7 freaking years old game. That says something about WoW.
I don't like the current state of the game either and no longer play it but i sure as hell would be first in line if they would make a sequel. More than the game itself I made a lot of friends and had a blast with people over vent on raid nights. That is something I have never experienced in any other game.

You avoided said question, You also ignore end-game gear/color crystal that require alienment and that like most of Biowares other games the choices that you make in them don't become apparent until the sequel. Really go play Mass Effect 1 or Dragon Age (you can even do this in skyrim or fall out really) then be the biggiest dick to everyone wait for the key choices to come up then pick the good choices then play mass effect 2 and see how many of the dickish minor choices affected oyu as much as the major one. But I digress, point is I'd wait for an X-pac before saying that.
I have had to yell at people to skip convos, who the hell are you playing with?
And this is different then anything CURRENTLY on the market (and will be fore at least 2 more months assuming TERA doesn't do the same.) how? They are adding in the legacy system and chances are they;ll add space PvP combat so there is your alternate achivment. Why not stop, go play what ever game you want, then come back when more things are added?
Someone already stated that it was blizzard who changed the mmorpg games forever.......back in vanilla it was an awesome game with good open pvp and all you wanted to do in an open world.
THEN they focused on raid and battlegrounds.....this killed the community imho and from then on mmo's where not the social games they once where.
Dont elude yourself.....if blizz would make a new mmorpg (they wont...it will prolly be a mmoFPS or something like that) you would all be willing to sell you own family to play the newest blizz game.....why?
Blizz makes kick ass games (it takes forever but when it hits the stores people will make their beds at the store...nuf sayd) so you will be buying.

And again you are just saying you want people to just.. agree with you. But since you bought it up.
Ok in swtor you can chose light or dark alignment which has absolutely no impact in game/game play all it does is give a slight different cutscene. But you are right, based on alignment you can have a minor cosmetic difference , which again.. has no impact on gameplay. Heck with current crafting, granted its not the best crystal you want, you can get red blaster shots from crafted weapons when you have rank V light alignment. The light red crystal for instance has no aligment requirement.
But you are right, not everyone skips the cutscenes during hardmodes, personally I dont mind bother asking people to skip, but the cutscene got old a long long time ago. But ok Ill admit it, in Kaon you DO have a choise that makes a difference. if you pick kill him, the cutscene kills the guy and you move on in the instance, if you spare his life , you have a 3 second fight to kill him anyway.
I wouldn't play a WoW2 the OP proposes. Vanilla with frequent boring dialogue interruptions? Eww, no thanks. I am however interested n Titan, even if its only WoW with an updated veneeer. Besides EVE, Wow is the only game I've been consistantly subbed to for several years.
People are only saying no because of the current state of WoW.
well isn't the premise of the thread basically if wow2 was wow with swtor type story and voice work?
I can't speak for anyone else but I'm tired of the gameplay that wow has. I'm tired of that type of game. It would need to have an entirely different combat system with a different overall game focus for me to even consider it.
They would have to change WoW 2 so its not a gigantic casual fest. and If they did that it wouldnt please the masses.. so they likely wont do that and i likely wont play it.
Never really understood why WOW became as popular as it did in the first place. I got to max level in 3 months (and unsubbed) but after that nothing to do unless you like to repeatedly spend 4 hours a night doing the same thing...over and over and over and over...for the 1 in 24 chance of getting an item that gives you a 0.004% increase in your characters abilities.
Most of the MMO population of the world play WOW. Then again, most of the people that populate the world are idiots. My bet is there is a correlation.

The Warcraft franchise had a lot to do with WoW's success.
They also managed to appeal to a lot of non-gamers with their "hey look! it doesn't take up years of your life to 'win'!" approach.
Personally I'm with you. I prefer my MMOs to last. But meh, people have their preferences.
As for the original question, WoW 2 is not WoW. I would at least give it a fair try.

Wow, nice flouncing exit when people don't agree with you.
No, because TOR's storyline is more suited to a SPRPG.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR
Anyway, Since playing TOR I have been getting a small itch and that itch was to hop back into the world of Azeroth, but because of how much I enjoy/ed/ing TOR I find it hard to go back to anyother linar themepark game. So I've been thinking how awesome would TOR's story telling be in a vanilla WoW setting?
Basically would you play and updated (Graphics and what not) vanilla WoW that had Bioware story telling in it.
I would play WoW2, if it were made by Blizzard, but NOT if it had Bioware story-telling mucking it all up.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I would play WoW2, if it were made by Blizzard, but NOT if it had Bioware story-telling mucking it all up.
These are my thoughts as well. I dont want a remake of vanilla with BW cut scenes and VO. But I would play at least try a Blizzard production of WOW 2.
Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
Personally, no. Tired of the worn out linear questing system and kill ten rats model. Tired of regretting seeing allies when you're in the open world because they're actually competing against you instead of working with your for resources or mobs. Tired of small scale, stagnant PvP. Tired of being forced into a tight, predictable role and being forced into a precise build due to someone's spreadsheet. Tired of the trinity. Tired of the gear grind, the endless treadmill. Tired of the same old same old.
Kinda a weird question IMO.... Keep in mind that World of Warcraft as MMO is the successor of the Warcraft RTS games. So if Blizzard was to make a WoW2, that might as well mean that WoW as we know it would be 100% done over with complete new mechanics (hey one is allowed to dream).
But unless you give examples of your 'WoW2', I'm not voting. So far too many new MMO's have been hyped only to be yet an other generic MMO...

vanilla wow WAS great at that time, now my standards are much higher:)
I'd play a WOW 2 definitely.

I have no positive connection to WoW whatsoever, so nope. That doesnt interest me at all.
But yeah, the strength of Bioware games are story and an easy to use interface. Ruleset, graphics - not so much.
Why would I want to play such a game?
Sounds like running on a hamster wheel while watching a bland Hollywood movie...

Time for something new.
Oderint, dum metuant.
So, you're asking me if I would resub to WoW if it was even more linear and had 1 min+ voiced cutscenes for every kill-ten-rats quest?
Whow.
Its funny how drastically different peoples reactions to Bioware are now thanks to SWTOR ...
When I think Bioware, I think Baldurs Gate 2. Good storytelling and great questlines is something I would like to have in any MMO.
Cutscenes ? Extensive dialogue ? Not so much. And I frankly dont give a rats ass about Full VO.
