I've been on the fence about this game, but after a lot of videos watched about building houses. Then videos on mansions and also on castles. Plus the amount of crap available in this game, the final nail in the coffin was this:

I'm sure a lot of you have seen it already, I get that, but I'm just posting this for those who haven't seen it yet. It's a "guild" or whatever they call them in this game versus another guild sieging a player built castle. Pretty dang awesome!

Two things though, does anyone know what class the character in the video is that can use an axe and shield, bow, and levitate themselves?
The second is something that worries me. Watching the siege video was grand and all, but the duel'n pvp leaves a bad taste in my mouth. After all the combat/action mmo's hitting the market, I'm afraid this might turn me away from this game. Not towards any other specific mmo, but I'm not sure...
There are 10 schools of skills you pick 3 from.
Likely some possible combination of Combat (Melee Attacks) + Calling (Rogue-ish charge and crits) + Wild (Ranger-ish bows and such)
See this forum for a breakdown listing of some, not all yet, of the skill schools. Subject as per usual to all beta changes. In fact I know some have change already, but it will give you an idea.

Thanks for that!
Excellent video of a BRILLIANT game.

Like in the game Doom
I'm almost sure this game already has a western publisher, but it isn't announced yet.
Gotta say when i saw that siege tower get up on the castle i was in awe, really cool stuff. Can imagine some really epic guild battles. I told myself I was going to stop getting hyped for archeage because of it being so far away but it's really hard not to when you see videos like that.
you're sold on a few vids? mmm ok.
I'll wait for the western beta - if they ever do one for the west.
This game definitely deserves more hype than any game to date because it is offering m ore than any game to date and hopefully without cash shop.
One thing i hope people are not anticipating a 10/10,it cannot and will never happen as developers do have cash limits and time lines.I feel this will be a good game it will need time to get even better. The effort is going into the game and that is what i look for the most.I do expect some nuances that will rub me and others the wrong way but what game doesn't do that?
If people stick by this game and give it the same time frame MUCH lesser games have been receiving then it will be a very good game. The only bummer for me is it is still going to be a fairly high push to pvp, something i am not big on in mmorpg's as i prefer players to get along and work together rather than agaisnt each other.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Very intersting vid. It looks pretty damn cool especially the sieges and I LOVE the medieval feel this game has, reminds me of age of empires for some reason and I love it for that lol.
Now, wtf did that guy do to fly??? is that a hack? another thing, seems like there is a lot of lag going on since ppl are two-steping all over the place, I doubt everyone in this game moves in little dashes lol. Animations also seem very jerky and just weird in general, not as good as in other games. Also, is it me or does cc look a bit overkill?
Overall it looked ok, seems like the macro side of the battles look like fun but Im still in doubt about the small scale battles and skirmishes those seemed a bit bland to me. How raw is this build of the game? is it far from release? cause it still feels like its a ways away polish wise.

This, I was thinking of the old old game called Castles.
If that's true then PvP shouldn't bother you. In game you make friends with your neighbours and a community blossoms, any known random pkers or theives will quickly be known and your village will be alerted. You help each other out. Although a friend of mine stole his neighbours expensive Strawberries and received a hurl of abuse in Korean for quite a while, that's about as hardcore as it gets haha. The game world is huge, PvP is avoidable, if you put your house or farm near a well used path and get attacked it's the risk you take. You won't see a lot of your own faction trying to PK you, it'll mostly be raids from the other Continent looking to harvest your resources.
I get no lag ingame, pretty sure it's because he has everything on high and recording and his rig can't handle it. At least 60% of the world has yet to be implemented that includes starter areas for the 4 other races they've yet to add.... expect a long wait.
Even after all the vids I've seen, I still can't get excited about this game. I guess that's good considering the long wait that's ahead, more than likely, but it's not like me to not feel at least SOME excitement. I don't know. Guess after you've been burned a few times it gets harder to GET excited about game releases. It's pretty rare anymore that one really grabs me. I mean, there are a couple of games coming up here that I feel a little anxious to play, but really....I'm guarded about them too. You really just never know FOR SURE until you're playing it.
I'll keep watching this one though.

This game looks so damn good!
I'm literally SICKENED by people who say this game isn't exciting. You aren't into MMORPGs at all if you say that. It has almost every single element from every successful MMORPG in history. Hell even EVE's new ground war game will probably be played on some corner of AA.. So even space stuff is in this game.
Sure some of you don't read much of anything, but the guy aboves strawberry story is just one of the endless possibilities in this game. A hungry adventurer stumbles into a farm and eats some fruit, angry farmer yells and attracts a nearby pestering spider that chases him up a tree. Adventurer kills spider and clears debt.
Its almost obnoxious how many different things you can do in this game. Sadly.. Without a north american server. I fear this game will never be playable by the likes of me.
It don't matter if their laughing at you or with you, as long as their laughing- Unique
I am fully sold too.
Really hope we have acces to play AA soon enough it does not get buried by newer games.
I just heared cons about optimization and so, so i fear a long way ahead yet; trying to tune hype but here i am, browsing news..
You forgot to mention his accomplice went to jail because of that
Haha. 1GB patch tomorrow?
i'd steal strawberries too. i love them jail
i heard there is also court, i guess is not yet implemented
Let me see if I can make this clear for you without "sickening" you more. First of all....I love MMORPGs. Secondly, a lot of them are released having promised THE MOON and not delivering. After some time I have just gotten sick of getting my hopes up. That doesn't mean I don't love MMOs. Besides, we all have different taste in games to begin with. What excites me may NOT excite you and vice versa.
I'm ever so sorry that I sickened you, but frankly, if my differing opinion "sickens" you, you probably don't belong anywhere on a web forum. Opinions are quite commonly shared there and many of them won't agree with yours.

Mortal Online? Seriously?
Your the second person I've directly seen compare this game to that POS. *BIG* difference between MO and AA: $35million budget and JAKE SONG (lead dev behing Lineage)! The two games don't even deserve to be grouped together in the same sentence.
AA, as it exists now (not all the way finished, missing half its races, whole world is not ready yet, etc.) is still far more playable than most AAA mmo's that are released. There are a few points of the game I could do without, but the tools and features that already are IG and functional are something I haven't seen in a AAA title in a looooong time.
Frankly, if people don't like this game, I guess that's good. Just stay away and let the rest of us enjoy its gorgeous world and open-ended gameplay. Have fun riding the rails in the FOTM themepark. I'll be too busy building castles, sailing, climbing trees, fighting PK's, RP'ing, etc. to even notice you're not there ;P
Never said AA wasnt or wont be playable...I said it is and will be a POS. Its has diff bells and whistles than Mortal Online, but when all is said and done, it looks like the same open pvp sandbox POS
I'm sure you'll have a blast playing it (with the other 29 people ) untill it dies 3 months after its released....if that ever happens
I'll be honest, I'm very dissapointed that the game has tanks. I've never liked the mixing of fantasy with technology.

Okay, you said sandbox games with open world pvp are "the suck" and that it will be lucky if they are "niche" games. And now you are repeating your claim that 30 people will play it and it will last all of 3 months. Unfortunately, games like UO, EVE, the Lineage games (2 in particular) would run contrary to your claim. Maybe you think massive numbers of subs are the only metric by which to gauge a game's success, but I've never been one to hop on bandwagons just because everybody else is doing it. If it is a smaller population and it winds up being a "niche" game, then so be it. As long as it sticks around like EVE and offers the depth, excitement, and creativity seen in a game like that, I could care less if the masses play it (except that it needs enough subs to be solvent and warrant more development/growth...). Oh, and if you hate the game so much, why are you reading a post about it and posting hate for it. Go play whatever game you enjoy... or is raining on the parades of people who are excited about something your "game" of choice?
In any case, to liken a game with a budget like AA has, and with an expected global footprint that includes Korea, China, Russia, and NA/EU (hopefully sooner rather than later), to MO is like comparing Apples and dog shit. MO is some fly by the night title held together with a string and a prayer, AA is the first AAA title from the design studios of one of the fathers of MMORPG's.... HUGE difference.
Tanks? Where have you seen this? That's new to me, but I admit I haven't watched every video or read every write up. As for the mix of fantasy and tech.... You got a thing against steampunk?
