This is the Wvw map. Not so impressive considering it's purpose. I mean it's great. But it's not an accurate representation of the entire game world. Also, yes you could have not reposted it.

who said it was an accurate representation of the entire game world?

Yep. Good size for WvW, but if the open world is this size, it'll even be smaller than Rift. Gonna give Anet the benefit of the doubt on this one.

Wide open expanses of nothing don't do anyone any good. I'd rather have it smaller, but smartly populated. That said, the fact that ANet put in "hidden areas" speaks to the size of the maps.
Taking all nine of Warhammer's tier 4 RvR zones, I'd say GW2 is about the same size. Does not seem much bigger if at all to me. However, Warhammer zones are very linear, and actual play area is tight in some zones. GW2 seems more open and includes underwater so I'd guess that perhaps GW2 is twice as big as Warhammer at BEST.

There's already an image of the World Map. Just watch any of the Norn toturial vids to can an idea of huge large that instance is, or better yet, watch this vid to get an idea of how large the zones tend to be and then you'll can an idea of the sense of scale.
What I care about most is whether it works and is fun. Adding more zones is something they'll hopefully work on post launch and I think a dev mentioned it during the Reddit AMA.
People really try hard to find something negative to say about this game. Oh, yeah, this guy says it's big but is it big enough for me.
The dwellers-under-the-bridge are having a tough time of it lately. Their complaints are getting smashed into angry little bits with alarming regularity. I'm so looking forward to the logical acrobatics they are going to be performing for us as more information and video gets released.
Didn't a dev mention something about GW2 supposedly being as large as GW1 and xpacks combined? Or maybe that was 'only' content-wise and not in terms of landmass?!
But no point in discussing this since we already established the important fact that; it's all a subjective matter!
Oh and btw, nice map there OP. I for one had not seen it before and it does put things into perspective, albeit a very subjective perspective.

It's actually getting rather sad and pathetic now. But my block list is sure growing every morning.
This isn't going to turn into another swtor "Ever zone is the size of a WoW continent" thing is it? Because I thought swtor's zone sizes were fine - but it was yet another area that failed to live up to hype which leads to disapointment.
You can't really tell anything from a world map. They could even put a scale on it and then slap it up against other world maps and it still would mean nothing, since the distance in a game can only be measured by the time it takes to travel it.

yap thats one awesome thing about guildwars 2 the maps are very big.
What? This is SO subjective.

Even if it were. Ask people, most will say it's very big.
scale is now "subjective". LOL

Even the skeptics say it's huge. So it's not just subjective.

Because size does matter, no matter what they tell you.
Oderint, dum metuant.
I had thought, and somewhere out there somebody on this site has the data...
GW1 world is one of the biggest in any MMORPG correct?
I imagine the GW2 PvE world will be just as big considering... it's the same world.
Nobody bothered by the copypaste?

There, my subjective opinion posted!

Red is actually blue, and blue is actually salty.
It's all subjective man...

Not too shabby I guess. Thanks for posting regardless.
