How Many of the SWTOR Haters.....

...are just frightened employees of a rival MMO, that are just afraid they might lose their jobs?

Maybe they are actually paid by rival companies to go viral with their hate for SWTOR?

Or maybe they simply have brain damage.

I would say none of the above. This is just the way gamers are these days.

Probably the same as the number of fanobois who're just insecure and need many people to validate their choices or they won't enjoy them?

About as many as there are SWTOR fanboys that are payed EA employees.

I will not play a game with a cash shop ever again. A dev job should be to make the game better not make me pay so it sucks less.

I'm sorry, It was just a little too generic for me. I made this decision on my own.

I work for a rival game company and I am frightened of SWTOR. I'm frightened of it's innovation. I never thought a game company would be so brave as to make some of these innovations, but my worst nightmare has come true. I mean who could have guessed that in an interactive video game, a game company would dare replacing gameplay with long mini-clips and voice overs. Brilliantly taking the need for the gamer to tax himself by reading or touching the keyboard or mouse. So bold as to offer the gamer choices but clever enough to make those choices completely inconsequential. So daring as to charge 15$ a month for those same movies and voice overs in the face of competition that is moving away from the subscription model.

My company is so terrified of the intellectual collosus that is EA/Bioware that they pay 10,000 haters 10$ a post in the hope of salvavaging their reputation and hiding their own lack of insight and innovation.

But I, give up, I yield to you Bioware and fans. The OP has showcased why you can never ever be defeated. You are just too smart, all of you!

    Goodbye!

You're completely wrong about taking away the need to touch the keyboard.  I've already gone through 3 spacebars.

    Lol

Dang...if someone is willing to pay me $10 a post I'll hate on this game. Hell, with some of these whackos simply being objective is deemed as hating by them anyways. May as well get paid for simply being honest in your opinion.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

I don't think a company would bother to do that, I think we live in a world of ADD kids and young adults who don't have the patience to listen to a story, the wall of text in so many mmo's is a dream come true for them because they could speed their way to endgame and raid until there little fingers fell off.  Then along came Bioware and said we are going to do something a little different, we are actually going to put story into our mmo, create immersion, hopefully people would enjoy the journey, and the ADD kids couldn't hack it, they could not tolerate listening to the story and if they space barred it they would blow through even faster than usual and be ridiculed on sites like mmorpg. This is not meant as a criticism of people who have ADD just an observation

Heh my observations have been that the far majority of hate comes from sandboxers, and GW2 fans.

Asking Devs to make AAA sandbox titles is like trying to get fine dining on a McDonalds dollar menu budget.

That or people don't like the dead sterile world of SWTOR and find having someone tell them what the story is and have no way to meaningfully influence this rather than them go out into a "living breathing world" that isn't just a marketing lie and actually interact with other people to make their own story. Of course I could be 30 years younger than I am with a mental disorder or an employee of another MMO publishing company who has spent time randomly posting about other things on an MMO forum to hide the fact, or it might just be the game is shit for the reasons above and more.

Nope, just people being smartass and hater cause it's cool... no need to search for more complex reason.

I don't hate the game, I just find its mediocrity disturbing for its budget. I literally never played a game that felt more 'generic' then this game with a good majority of its features. its not good, its not bad. Its Meh.  Nothing at all that really would worry me as a mmo developer minus a large amount of advertising they are pushing behind it.

Hating on games is just something people do. It honestly has nothing to do with the game itself. They just see somethig that can be hated on and they do it. They just like to see the response of other people. It happens with every game released. The only game I don't remember seeing it occur with was Lord of the Rings Online.

    Ding ding ding!

I don't even hate the game. It just doesn't offer me anything I haven't already seen, especially from a PVP perspective.

Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure.

I have never understood that, if I like a game I don't really care what people I don't know think of it, you must be very insecure if you let a bunch of Internet rants get to you like this, I can see people arguing the toss in threads back and forth but to sit there and think I need to start a thread to defend my choice of games honour, well that's just a little odd.

Sure, doesn't stop my view of SWTOR being true. They said they were going to copy WoW years ago, but no one was expecting a dollar store version for $200m, if I want to watch a clunky set of Star Wars scenes, I can always watch the prequels, at least hat way I can play a decent game while I do.

This is a living, breathing world housing superb and intricate PvP.

    Mmm.. EA branded checks.
