It's no wonder why Eq 2 community seems to be very rude and immature.
I guess it's only natural if you aren't a diehard fan of this game that you would feel uncomfortable amongst the EQ 2 community in general, and therefore maybe inclined to join Wow instead where you will be welcomed kindly with open arms.
It's strange for such a carebear game; it really is.I think what it is; is it brings out that PVE Elitist attitude that Eqer's get and they get that fake sense they are better than everyone else and that maybe the core of the rudeness.
Like when i had made an alt newbie and i bumped into a high level friend of mine. They not knowing who i was when i msg them they were like im way too busy right now i cant waste time talking to some lowbie you, lost all respect for him and all his friends they are just like him.
the Elitist im better than you attitude just makes me sick
wow look its a wow player insulting eq2 and its players!!! I have never seen that before!!!... oh wait... maybe every single time eq2 was mentioned in wow youd get swarms of "OMG TEH SUX" "WHAT A CRAPPY GAME!@!@#!!11" Its true. And maybe eq2 players can get a bit angry when we get wow players insulting us for what game we enjoy.
Look at you, you have a elitist attitude yourself.
Why do high levels be mean to low levels? because what reason do you have to pm them? for a group? or for items? or for guide?
We all know how fun it is walking through town and getting "where can i find so and so, or how can i do so and so" 20 times a half hour.
High levels become elitists because of low levels pestering. They are helpful and nice at first, then they just get sick of it, hence the elitist attitude.
What was he supposed to do? Stop what hes doing and immediately answer you a stranger to hims request? What does a lowbie seriously have to offer him? Why should he waste his playing time on you, its not his responsibility to help you.
Every game has a high level elitist attitude some people are just too blind to notice that the coin has 2 sides, the one you can see and the one you currently cant.
EQ2 i can walk up to most high levels, and get rudly flammed WoW i can walk up to most high levels to ask him something, and get an answer.
It depends on the MMO and how the community has become over time -- In EQ and EQ2 most are going for "phat lewts" or ripping off low levels, and dislike helping them, because they have done it once before, and let me tell you about 90% of high levels have asked a question about something, and just become more and more self centered as they see less and less of people.
I must say myself i have gained max level in most MMOs i have played, besides EQ2 due to how the community was, you have to do about an hour of research to figure out what quests to do, where some items you would like are at, instead of a high level saying "stfu newb go google it you *****". I could care less if i get 50 tells in town asking me "where did you get that sword?" "Where you find this quest?" ect. Take a little bit of time to get a social life and come back and play if your a high level, you will learn what comes around goes around and make EQ2 and more pleasent place to play instead of having a flame fest if your below level 30-40.

I have NEVER seen the level of ignorance you are talking about in EQ II. How about some screen caps of this since its apparently so rampant and easy to find on whatever server you are on. Shouldn't be hard since ALL high level people are that way, right? Either that or tell me what server you are on so I can go test it and get the screencaps myself to share as the burden of proof on the EQ II community.
Man I can't wait til I am level 50, I am gonna be SO self centered because I got all the phat lewt!

Total bullcrap.I played EQ2 since nov 2004 and never seen on oasis server a new player been kept down. The one occasion i saw someone crack a joke he was told off by numerous in general chat.
If you feel you must come and spread what i think are lies about EQ2 community you should produce screenies showing the high levels doing this or get a social life yourself if you have nothing better then spread lies about a game to make it look bad.
I'll admit it outright, I've seen some pretty elitist behavior from some players in EQ2, I'll also admit that in the past I remember seeing some nasty elitist players in SWG and as shocking as this may be, I'll even go as far as to say I've seen elitist gamers in WoW....
Actually you know what ? Now that I think of it, I've seen this sort of behavior in every single game I've played. But wait ! Could this be, nah you can't actuallly tell me that this common place in MMO's ?
Here's a clue, it's everywhere, you will find people with superior attitudes in every game, some are more prominent and some are more subdued but they are there, make no mistake about that.
What I have found though, in regards to EQ2, is that many upon many players have based their play aruond helping others, something I also remember others doing from my SWG days. This is almost completely impossible to find in a large majority of games and it's something that is very unique and quite welcoming to many.
Although it's certainly a shame that you did not see this part of the EQ2 community, I don't altogether find it surprising considering your statment towards being welcome by the WoW community with open arms. It honestly does not take any more then a quick read of both games realm forums to realize which of the inhabitants are more mature and welcoming.

Well I played WoW in beta and had a level 60 paladin on Warsong. I can say the WoW community def seems like it has more childish players than EQII but thats mainly contributed to the fact that most players of Warcraft are within that age group, I also seen ALOT of CS players and well.....CS doesnt have the greatest community either.
EQII to me just didnt have enough FUN factor, even though the community was more helpful I just didnt have any fun, and got really bored really fast. WoW keeps you moving and adds alot of fun. I played EQ for a long time and the only thing that kept me playing that game was the community. I guess it depends on what your looking for, if you have a good group of friends playing WoW it would def be the greatest game bar none, and you could probably say that for EQ2.
In my opinion however you can always judge a game on how fun it is to play when your doing solo quests and/or playing. That gives you a great idea of community, game play and fun factor. WoW has outsold EQ2 simply because they have more content, and more people like PvP than PvE. Both games are great in there own right.

Have to say wrong to that. Both games are great but EQ2 I would say has more meaningful content. WoW might have a billion and a half quests, but how many do you remember? They could have honestly been generated randomly for all the originality they had. EQ2's quests aren't shockingly original but they do have better writing in my humbly sainted opinion.
WoW outsold EQ2 because, quite literally, a 6 year old could play it: my niece is 6 and is level 21 and can read through all the quests and rarely needs help for any big words . She hates getting ganked though on the PvP server LOL.
